Hi Guys
I'm seriously considering purchasing a diesel car sometime in the future but, having never owned or driven a car running on Satans fuel I have a few questions.
Are they as fast as a petrol engined car? lets say I had a 200hp petrol car and a 200hp diesel which is quickest? Also in terms of power, how do they drive. I hear diesels have a narrow power band but how does that affect acceleration and overtaking stuff? I love the idea of a powerful diesel with cheap tax and MPG. Was thinking something like a BMW 320d or if I had the money a 335dThanks for any input

Hi Guys
Does anyone have a video or guide on how to remove the turbo from a BWA engine? I fear my turbo oil seals have gone as I get a little puff of blue smoke out the back when I set off. (Never seems to do it on boost mind) I've found a company that will repair it for £200 but you have to send the turbo to them. Would love to buy a Hybrid but I've just bought a house so don't have the funds
Cheers

I get this sometimes too. I've noticed that if the oil level is low it makes the clattering noise. Check the level and make sure its correct. They like to drink quite abit of oil but since i've switched to 5W40 Its used hardly any

HI mate
It has a front mount which is sandwiched in between the AC condenser and radiator. Forge do a Twintercooler which keeps the original intercooler and adds a whopping great big second one to the front.

It doesn't sound like this does it

I have exactly the same issue. its to do with the diverter valve and the intake. only cure is to go back to stock or move the diverter using a relocation kit to the front of the engine. I've just put up with it for now but its soooo annoying. its like an accordion

Just been looking in the manual and cant find any reference to an interior light fuse. anyone know which one it is? Car is an 07 Octavia vrs and none of the interior lights are working
Thanks

Could be the ABS ring in the wheel hub. I had this issue on mine. You will need a replacement hub as the ring is built into it

Yep its on the TFSI, I'll see if I can get one uploaded this weekend. Its not a really loud system until the boost comes on which I like.

I've got a Jetex 3" turbo back and its a been great. You can either fit it to your standard downpipe or chop the reducer off and mate it to a 3" downpipe like I did and just use a 3" pipe connector
-
I think it will but your going to need a connecting pipe because the Downpipe is 3" and the Catback is only 2.75"

Out of interest, What is the mileage limit on getting the belt changed? I had a look in the manual and I can only see the time limit.

I do have a little leak from the drivers side intercooler pipe. Think it needs a new green gasket thingy. Its a really odd one. Would i get a plume of smoke from the clutch? It was replaced about 2 years ago. I've been trying to replicate it and so far it hasn't happened again

Bit of an update
Checked fluids this morning and theres no coolant lossed or oil :wonder: Car drives absolutely fine. however, vaccuum noise is still there

Hi guys
On my way home tonight I stopped at a cross roads, went to accelerate and the car bogged down abit and threw out a cloud of smoke (think it was white but couldn't really see that well because it was dark) now my car has been making a funny vacuum cleaner noise like the diverted valve is opening before there is even any boost, it happens only in 1st gear when I set off and it gets higher as u press the throttle then it sounds like it starts holding boost again even though I'm not actually on the boost (its hard to describe) could it be the pcv valve leaking and its dumped a load of oil in the turbo or exhaust? I was driving like a Grandad the rest of the way home then I pulled over and on idle there is no smoke, when I rev it there's no smoke and when I'm on boost there is no smoke ( its only happened when I got the vacuum cleaner noise)
Thanks for any suggestions

I just baught 2 of these for the front of mine and they are brill. No issues with dry grip and they get a good rating for wet grip too (I've not had the chance to try that out yet)

Bit of an update. Went round to my 70 year old neighbours house last night to ask her if she had heard anything. She can oten hear a tapping sound but i dont think its the same sound we are hearing. She claims the previous owner used to hear a knocking noise coming from the attic and thought it might be something to do with the chimney stack. I never heard the noise last night and i didnt do anything to the radiators etc. Maybe it was her but it seems prety unlikely, shes a really friendly old woman.
-
Thanks, i'll try turning all the radiators off tonight in all the rooms. It just doesnt sound like a random noise. As seboni has said, its got rythem to it.

Right here is a sound clip of it, excuse the zonda i had to think of some way to host the file. You might need to turn your speakers up abit to hear it

Im really hoping its the woman next door, if she turns round and says its not her i honestly dont know what to do. I think it could actually wake the baby when its sleeping
