  1. I'm not going to knock them, Many years ago Skodas were known a skips. I have had Fiats as well and they were quite solid and never had any issues. I have had almost as many BWM Minis as I have had skodas and i have had just as many issues with them. I had a brand new Mini cooper and the Gearbox went after 9 months so No brand is perfect. I'm partly fed up with paying for options on a car which other manufactures put in as standard. I wanted a heated windscreen as i have cars previously with them, 90% of the second hand Kamiq's don't have it fitted as an option and then its a colour or model, engine that I don't want. I really like listening to music in the car as i spend a lot of time commuting. Most Skoda models don't have the option to upgrade the standard stereo. I just think that Skoda are going to far over towards Audi and VW and charging people for options that a Ford, Kia or Hyundai would have as standard.
  2. I have not totally dropped it, Our family car is a 71 plate L&K Kodiaq TSI ! which is a loverly car to drive and my wife loves it. I have had numerous Skodas over the years, Mk1 Fabia VRS with a tuning box, Great Fun MK2 Fabia VRS drank oil and fuel like an alcoholic but great fun Mk2 Octavia TDI VRS masses of space, Mk2 Superb TDI even more space than the Octavia. my wife has also had 2 Fabias and 3 Kodiaqs. Out of all the skodas we have had the Kamiq has had the most faults. I specced up a Monte Carlo Kamiq and it was more expensive than the Puma. It's nearly 45minutes drive to my closest skoda dealer and as for ford I have one 5 minutes walk away. The Infotainment issues have been the most annoying, the sat nav would show me travelling 30 miles away from where i was, the emergency call would activate at random for no reason, the CarPlay would stop working for no reason. It would not let me register me as a user for several months.
  3. I have had my Kamiq SEL for about 2 and a half years and the Kamiq is now going, as admittedly i have got bored with it. Whilst it's been a brilliant car and has been very good on the economy the Time has come to change it. It has a few things which have been good but equally more things which have outright annoyed me. Pros the Car is spacious and has good rear Leg room and great for kids. good boot space as well. the 1.5 is responsive and picks up well, it ha certainly surprised a few BMW drivers. The ACT is also very good although I have no choice when it kicks in. I have got 55MPG quite regularly on the motorway. Cons the 1.5 when cold is not very smooth when pulling away or travelling below 15mph. it can be very jumpy the windscreen mists up very quickly in cold weather and takes ages to clear. the Lane assist drives me crazy and can be quite dangerous and has pulled me in to on coming traffic a few times. the infotainment system has been extremely buggy and is not totally reliable , I also find it Slow to start with using wireless CarPlay. its been to the dealer so many times over this and they have still not fixed the issues. What will it be replaced with... Well I have considered another Kamiq but to get a vehicle with the engine and options I want would have been very expensive and i'm not convinced that i won't have similar issues again, so i will be replacing it with a Red Ford Puma ST. the Puma is a similar size. it has a 1.5 engine with the ford equivalent of ACT. It has way more standard options on it such as Heated windscreen , Heated seats, Heated steering wheel, B&O sound system. it has a full digital dash. for the standard options it was a no brainer against the skoda who appear to want to charge you for everything.
  4. I had this with mine, the Kamiq thought that i was still in a phone call so the audio system was muted I only discovered it as the volume display on the dash had a phone symbol when I changed the volume, i could only get round it by making a call and then ending it so the system then went back to normal.

    Skoda Connect

On the Top of your Display to the left of the middle is a little world icon, is it greyed out? Mine was when I got my car and the Skoda connect would not work at all or pick up any software updates, i believe the icon means that the car is connected to the internet. I went and registered the car on https://skoda.cubictelecom.com who deal with the data side of the embedded sim card and the following day after I registered the internet started working and the car started to pick up software updates and I could register on Skoda connect as it could connect to my skoda profile. It also picked up my years subscription to the connect services. The Website is actually listed in the Kamiq handbook but its not easy to see, and the handbook does not contact as much info as i thought it would for a skoda.
  6. the removable films which protect the screen have a white tab on them to assist in taking them off, my Kamiq looks the same after i took the factory protective films off .
  7. That may be so, but my dealer is over 20 miles away. I did mention it to them and they did suggest that i take it in. In any case the data connection which was turned off has now switched itself on, so i have been able to register the car and i'm also getting software updates coming through. The system is ok, but with out the data connection working you can't do much. The system does have its benefits esp if the car is ever stolen it would def assist in the recovery of it.
  8. According to the dealer COVID did stop production for a bit, they told me that there was starting to be a shortage of Kamiq's coming through! don't know if i believe them, The dealer was advertising a blue 69 plate Kamiq on Auto trader which i went in for but they said it had been sold yet they are still advertising it 3 weeks later!
  9. I went in for a new car but they told me that cars ordered in October would be looking at a March/April 2021 delivery. which was too far and considering Brexit is approaching then things may get pushed back further or prices increased. The car I got was a new car which they had not yet registered so i got in there as first owner. its only got the spare wheel , front and car parking sensors and the other alloys as options.
  10. it drives very nicely and although a 1.5 its very good on fuel and the cylinder deactivation helps a lot. Its my first brand new car in nearly 10yrs and the buying experience has changed so much. you don't get anything for free, they even charged me for the fuel that was put in. everything is profit margins to the dealers. There is no fun in the buying anymore, I drove a 1.5DSG for a test drive and nearly bought it until I found that it had £3.5k worth of extras.
  11. I picked up my New Kamiq Yesterday from Skoda in Aylesbury. The Car is brilliant and by far its the best skoda I have had. But the New connectivity systems they are putting on the cars are giving me a headache. The car has Skoda connect but it won't load my Skoda profile and complete the Skoda connect activation, it feels like the data connection is not working. how do i fix it..? I have been on the skoda.cubictelecom.com which is listed in the manual and created an account on there, I have tried to use my mobile as a hotspot and connect the car to that and still nothing. I have tried to do a software update but nothing happens, and if i do a new user registration on the car i also get nothing but the same screen saying that the car is activating but i have had that screen for over 45 minutes and it should not take that long.
  12. I have just emailed Skoda Customer Services to see what they say, Seems to be one problem after another at the moment, not something i expected from buying a new car. The thing that annoys me is the lack of contact from the dealer and when they do contact you its full of lies and them just trying to cover themselves because they messed up. The last email from the finance manager was a complete lie, not one bit of truth in it!! just makes me really angry :swear:
  13. Its the Metal Mate and the paint protection, and also the gap insurance.
  14. I have got a problem with my Dealership and I need some advice on what to do. In July last year I ordered my VRS from Parkview Skoda in Reading, At the time of Order I also had my Octavia VRS valued as a part-ex. Whilst at the dealership my wife and I spoke to the finance manager who went over some figures. At the time I was told that I could do, As I was going to have nearly £4000 left over from the Octavia I decided to use it all as a deposit on the new car, meaning I would get all the £500 initial deposit back when I collected the car. I was also told that if I wanted to I could have some of the Octavia money back as well if I wanted. I placed the order also wanting the protection pack and this was added to the order sheet, with that going on the finance as well. I added a couple of extra options a couple of weeks after and I then waited 6ish months and only had a couple of emails from the dealer, nothing from the finance manager. When I collected the car, I only received back £100 of my £500 deposit with the dealer saying that the other £400 was used to pay for the other 2 options I had added after the initial order. I would have thought that they would have readjusted the finance to add the 2 options?? I took the car and during the next month I also discovered that they had done a crap PDI and the front suspension blocks had been left in place. I called Parkview to complain and they said to take the vehicle to my nearest dealer which is Palmers in Hemel Hempstead, they took the blocks out and Parkview have said that they will put £30 of fuel in the tank next time I am in, something I don’t think they will remember. I have now had an email from the Dealer who has said they forgot to take payment of £650 for the protection pack when I collected the car. Something I thought was going to be included in the finance. I have had another email from the finance manager who has said that they removed the protection pack from the finance to keep the payments down, not something I agreed to or requested. They went on to say that they would have used the £500 deposit to go towards the payment leaving me £150 to pay on the day, (Again not something I agreed to or requested. ) But unfortunately the settlement on my P/x was higher than I anticipated so the £500 went off towards paying that instead, (Something totally different to what the sale’s person said when I collected the car.) They are now threatening to cancel the protection pack unless I pay the £650, a large lump sum payment now I can’t afford and they were told that as well. I need some advice on what to do, as it feels that the service I have had from the dealer has been pretty poor and they have not done as I have asked and put everything on the finance as requested. The figures which they had when I collected the car I assumed had everything on it, even the sales person did not mention any payments for the protection pack, as I guess he was not aware of it as I did not agree to it. Where do I go from here?
  15. Actually Dangerous Driving is treated more seriously, if you only got a 12 month ban you have been quite lucky as it does also carry a prison sentence should the magistrate or judge see fit!! the extended test part of your ban can also be added to drink drivers as well but this would be again decided by the magistrates or judge at time of the sentence being passed!
