  1. Cheers Guys. Baffoon award goes to me... :S Yes, its the dipped beam that went. After going back to do a bit of testing as rum4mo suggested, I realised that I was replacing a working main beam with another working main beam. So in my tinkering I appears that the sidelight has stopped working as well now. I need to buy the correct bulb or bulbs first and have another go! Hopefully I will have success next time! At least I have a spare main beam bulb now ;o) Thanks for the replies
  2. Hi all, Im hoping this is something simple... firstly, What are the correct names for the bulbs? I call them: High Beam (one you flash to let people out) Main beam. bright ones you put on while driving at night. side lights. ones that come on with the dash board lights. My Main beam bulb went out and I got the warning light on the dash. The side light still worked. So I bought the new bulb, Just a cheap one from Halfords for about £6) I read through this guide http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/51592-changing-fabia-headlight-bulbs-tips/ And had a look at the car, it seemed simple enough and I could fit my hands in to undo the spring, so I went ahead and swapped it out without to much trouble. Now the main beam and side lights don't work at all work on the drivers side. I have plugged the light in with the spade connector thing This seemed to be the only connection, and I cant see any other wires not connected. Is it possible to blow a fuse on one side of the lights? Any Ideas? Cheers
  3. Quick update to complete the thread. Price given including fitting was £78.
  4. Hi Guys, as the op has already solved hid problem and this was mentioned above I will ask a quick question! Its mentioned above about swapping the ignition with the live around. I get from this list that the ignition is pin 7. But which one is the live? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/43971-ice-iso-connections/ (I had trouble fitting my cage, but I used a hammer , then it was fine ) Thanks -------------edit---------- I spotted in another post that there might be bullit connectors. I just looked and there was a yellow and red wire with bullets, swapped these and it works now. Sorry for trying to Hijack the thread
  5. Thanks I was expecting about that. ( Still good news for the +10 It was eating another magpie just before I clobbered it as well! Cheers.
  6. Hi all, On my way to work this morning I hit a horrible magpie on the motorway. it hit the grill then the bonnet then the windscreen, thankfully only damaging the grill. As the garage is closed now, can anyone tell me how much a new one is? The car is in for its first MOT on Friday, so I will get the grill from Skoda unless it is extortionate! but looking at their other costs I am assuming it should be less than £50? http://i925.photobucket.com/albums/ad96/PaddyBaptiste/Grill.jpg I cant post the image, I read there is a minimum post limit before I can.. -----EDIT------ its a VRS grill by the way.
  7. Cheers. ****************Edit******** Just checked the fuse 14/15 as in the other thread and got signs of life. need to grab a new fsue now. Once again, another useless thread cos I didnt search hard enough! Thanks Mike.
  8. Hi All, Im having an issue with my front wipers, and the water pump, I am assuming that it is simply frozen at the moment, but while driveing to a friends houose the front wipers where working, then when I got back in the car 3 hours later they are not, When I pull the lever to squirt the screen nothing happend, No sound from the pump, no movement of the blades. Then after checking the fuse, when I pull the lever, it operated the back window wiper? Any Ideas? (The temperature was only at -2, last week I was in Scotland at about -15 with no problems besides frozen water)
  9. Hi, Sorry for the late reply. They never said what tape was used. Im assuming it was duct tape. he said he put a lot of it on. All the repairs have been under warrenty, which is good because it has had two new turbos and 3 other trips for associated pipes and brackets!
  10. Another blown pipe! this time it is the one after the turbo. The very helpfull chap said that this is the pipe that expands when under pressure. Cant remember what he called it! They didnt have one in stock so It has been taped up till next week.
  11. Hmm Thanks for the replies. Going into the garage now. I will let you know what they say. Ta.
  12. Hi all, I have been lurking here for years, this is the first time I have not been able to find an answer to a question! I have a Fabia VRS. which has blown two turbos in the last year. Both fixed under warrenty. (I dont think I drive the car hard, mostly motorway miles getting an average MPG of about 50) The last one was returned to me a week ago. I have been driving slowly this week to give it a chance to warm up. Alhough I was told this isnt necessary. Today I noticed a new noise, most noticible in 3rd gear. when I went over 3500 revs. It sounded like all the fans in the car came on full blast. I switched all the fans off opened the vents and tried again. the same "fan" noise happened with no air coming out of the vents so I think this is related to the turbo, but it has never made this noise before. So my question is. Should it have been making this noise for the past three years, or do I need to go back to the dealer and have them take another look? There is 6 months left on the warrenty but looking at the prices quoted by some on the forum I wouldnt want to dish out for a new turbo! It was also serviced a week when the turbo was replaced. I read on another post that this could be a air filter issue? Any ides? Cheers ps. I can manage an oil change but I have no idea what I am looking at under the bonet.
