  4. Well i'm only 20 but here we go! 1999 Daewoo Matix 0.8l 2002 Skoda Octavia TDI estate Elegance And from the summer hopefully a merc vito 110 to add to that
  5. Not sure if yours is an estate or not, but the way you say false floor i am assuming it is! If so check out my install, its a bit tidier now its finished! very impressed and the sound out of my system is very powerfull with good treble and bass. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/171509-tdi-estate-boot-install/
  6. I changed my dampers and springs all round when i first got my TDi albeit its an estate, but they do it for the hatch im sure! They are Spax VSX, i've had them on for for roughly 15,000 miles they are a little lower than standard but the right is still good, i.e. it takes the bumps comfortably but when you want to go quickly round a corner you dont get too much body roll or bouncing! The damping is actually very good and i would definately reccomend them as an option other than coilovers.
  7. oddly, my Tdi 110 elegance has never ever smoked, not even when flooring it, i bought it with 170.000 and now has nearly 190.000 mies on the clock. seems to start fine, even in the colder weather. 'touch wood' apart from an slightly odd coolant leak its fine!
  8. i know i am searching nationally but there about 4 on autotrader for around 3-5k admitidly two of them have over 100k miles but then again if fsh theres nothing too wrong with that!
  9. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/171509-tdi-estate-boot-install/page__p__2078867entry2078867 theres the link bud, carpet all trimed up now and tweaked so all is working well!
  10. is it an estate or hatch, If estate i did a nice sub boot install and its been in about 3 months and sounds awesome! Ill find the link if you want it! should still be knocking around on here.
  11. Right this is a bit confusing and i'm slightly lost on what to do now! It's been a problem for a while, but it has started to get worse. Sometimes ill fill the expansion tank and it will use it all in 70 miles, then sometimes ill re fill and it will be good for 200 miles and then ocasionaly it needs topping up after 35miles! Its getting rather annoying, the engine is getting hot, no sign of any contaminents in the oil, no loss in power or economy etc..... O yes, and sometimes the light will come on to say its empty at cold, ill open the cap, massive hiss and it all comes flooding back in! Any help much appreciated as i dont want to be paying a garage lots of my student money! Cheers.
  12. some times i can hear my turbo from inside, just a quiet whistle whilst it spools, with the windows down i always hear it when accelerating hard! done 188,000 miles now, still pulling strong and will for a whilei hope (touch wood) i had a problem with sticky vanes a few times but that was solved with a few strongtanks of Red-Ex!
  13. i did mine without vagcom, wouldn't start straight away but after a few turnovers it start and was fine and much improved!
  14. will get some pictures when im home from my trip to plymouth tommorow!
  15. I had issues with 'sticky vanes' in my turbo, two tanks of a strong ish mix and some spirited driving and have never had a problem since, must have helped some what!
  16. no not fully sealed although i do intend to fully seel it at some point. but i have insulated the whole wheel well so it sounds great already
  17. that would have been nice but on the left hand side there is no space as the wheel well is more to the Right!!
  18. yep thats the plan! hidden wires popping out from underneath, and trim the wood to fit carpet properly!!! nearly fully finished!
  19. what do you think of my boot install? my first ever go at this sort of thing, i think it went and looks good! TDi boot install CLICKY
  20. Decided after buying a very nice head unit and replacing the speakers i fancied a little more bass so decied to do a discreet sub and amp install in the boot. I do alot of surfing so i didnt want something big in the boot or in a postion where it could get salt water ingress etc... So as i have the false floor in my octavia i decided to use the large amount of space behind the spare wheel in the wheel well, After removing the polystyrene bit i relised that there was more than enough space to get a sub and am mounting in there so that the false floor could still close if need be! i am running 2x in-phase XT8 1000 watt subs off of a SPLX 300w bridged amp, Made an open sub box and soundproofed the various metal areas in the wheel well, carpeted and fitted, i did it over a week or so but probably only took a few hours to fully complete! Very impressed with quality of the bass and the subs and amp themselves, easy to wire in and look pretty good i think! What do you think ?!?
  21. no didnt top up at all, drove home and all was normal!!! odd one! i shall change the thermostat tommorow and see how it goes! should i bleed the whole system to get rid of a possible air lock?
  22. today after work, i started my car and the low water lgiht was flashing away and bleeping, stopped the engine, had a look, Empty, bare in mind i topped it up of saturday! looked for any obvious signs and could see no leeks or any odd residue on the the inside of the oil cap. drove home (half a mile or so) got back and checked again, on the maximum line, now i'm not quite sure what is going on and am very confused! At first thoughts could have been signs that it could be head gasket failure of sorts, then thought about leeky hose but cant see any of these issues! would it be worth whiel changing the thermostat or something? Hope you can and advise me what to do as i really like this car!! Regards James.
  23. really really easy swap, pulled old head unit out put in new cage (supplied with this head unit) attachednew loom to old loom (again supplied) then slide head unit in and done! O i had to change the attena type for the aerial but again 2 minute job. Just fitted my amp and awaiting a delivery of two 8 inch subs for my custom boot install, pictures up soon!!!
  24. I am trying to wire in my amp into my octavia estate, I'll run the cable from the boot and am stuck with how to get it into the engine bay, i cant seem to find an existing hole for it to pass through! any ideas? and also im thinking i need about 7m of cable does this sound about right? ORRR can i run it off of the 12v socket in the boot (adapting it obviously) or is the amperage too high (300w amp with 30amp fuse) Cheers in advance! James.
  25. bought myself a new headunit to replace the symphony unit and my god! i havent changed the speakers yet and it already sounds imense! cant wait to fit the amp and speakers! definately recommended (Kenwood KDC-5047U)
