Cheers for replies so far! Im looking at SE trim, and 2WD so limited to the 110 diesel :'( Its a shame we cant spec 16 inch wheels as an option either!
-
I like the yeti!! Just trying to minimise costs!!
-
Hi all, Would the 1.2/1.4 petrol be a better long termer than diesel? Big diesel advantage is mpg, given that fuel is probably never going to be cheap again, is to me a good reason for buying one. However petrols have fewer expensive things to go wrong-DMF, DPF, turbo ( I know petrols have them too, but they seem to last longer!) Also the petrols are chain not belt driven, so shouldnt need changing. My mileage is approx 8-10k yearly, and the drive to work is 20 miles each way without stop start traffic. I like the idea of diesel, but scared that 3-5 years down the line, Im going to get a big bill that wipes out fuel saings!!! HELP!! lol
-
Try Griffin tax free, they supply to the forces and expats, I have been quoted 500 quid extra for LHD, a wait of upto 6 months (get a diesel then!!) with a deposit of 20%. LHD lights come fitted.
-
Surely this merits a visit to your local breakers, there must be a few fabias that have been scrapped by now.
-
So far so good then, eh!! Have to be honest, want the petrol to do 40+, ideally 45!! without mimsing!!!

Guys, Had a test drive in 1.4se, enjoyed it! However I reckon I do around 10k P.A so should I be looking at the diesel or even the 1.2? I assume the performance of all 3 is quite similar, but in these expensive times is the diesel mpg worth the extra outlay? official figures (combined) are; 1.2- 44.1 1.4- 41.5 2.0(110)- 52.3. I know real life gives totally different figures, anyone have their averages to hand, especially the 1.4 and 2.0 110.

Is the 5 speed box any more of a strain to drive than the 6? Clive, I belive that 6 months is the norm? But is it not the dsg models that take the longest?
-
James Im at bovington in Dorset now, I leave next month! You probably know how much I can get them for with the Tax Free thing, but need to get LHD headlights as well! Also come back to pick it up...
-
Has anyone driven both 2+4wd and do they feel any different? I guess that the 4wd will have more torque, but as the 4wd is also around 200kg(??) heavier, what is nicer to drive? the 1.4 scares me a little mpg wise!!
-
Thanks for the quick replies, Im in Dorset at the moment, but Im in the Army and getting posted back to Germany next month I (if I like the test drive) intend keeping it for a few years so would like it to be as reliable as possible. My drive to work there is 20 miles each way, mostly A roads and no traffic jams! Must add that my budget is nearly bust at those prices so I dont want an elegance!! lol
-
Hi all, waiting for test drive to get sorted, is this the best option for the 2wd versions? Not planning to go off road, so I assume 4wd is not needed? The SE seems to have most of what I want. Ta!
-
Car is going to be for work, 20 mile commute each way on clear A-roads. Needs to be reliable!! Thats why I fancied an octy, until I read about clutch+turbo dramas! I know most if not all diesels have expensive parts that go wrong, just trying to work out how likely it is that I could get bitten! 6K here only gets high milers, although usually FSH. Never owned a diesel before, is this the time to do it?
-
I know it sounds daft but the thought of turbo or clutch going wrong, with the associated bills, is making me think is getting a diesel worth it? Especially as just one failing wipes out the fuel cost benefit! HELP!!!
-
Given that my budget is 6k max, and I am after the Elegance spec. Should I be worried about this as all cars in this price range are 90k+ ? I dont want to buy something that could cost at least another 1-2k to put right.
-
Gents, If the turbo is kaput on a 1.9 pd, what is a realistic cost for replacement?
-
Met black octy, PITA to keep clean?

there is one on trader at the moment with satnav for 5k, but tbh I should wait until another colour appears!! -
Hi all, Do they suffer from carwash scratches etc, constantly needing to be washed?
-

Spent the last hour going through old posts!! Before MY 07 there is no aux socket fitted seemingly. So given that the one I am going to see is a 56, doubt its got one! -

Ta Mike, Where would the aux socket be on a 56 model? -
Leather and MFSW. Worth waiting for?

If no maxidot fitted is the info displayed between tacho and speedo smaller, so there appears to be a blank on the lower part? -
Hi all, Got around 5k to play with and looking at octy 2. Already seen a few elegance at this price, but none with the above features (1.9 derv engine of choice). Should I keep looking until one with these features turns up, or was there not that many with those options anyway. These features are not a dealbreaker, but are things I would like. Not seen any L+K either, which i know would have them! Only thing I dont want is ESP!
-
How do you know if ESP is fitted.
