  1. Hi Raj. Did you happen take any pictures? Can you repair it in place (battery disconnected), or do you have to remove the board. Thanks Dave
  2. Hi Tiv. Did you fix this in the end? My wife just told me she felt a crunch when opening the door. Exact same thing has happened I think.
  3. Im sure you're right Langers2k, cant find much in the way of real-world experiences of people who've had it done though. My personal issue is that i can't see it costing less than £800ish for the above work. Which will then put the car back to ptotentially having DPF issue s- especially for the sort of driving i do, so would be looking to sell it. With 150k-ish on the clock i'd be lucky to get £1500.
  4. It is a bit of a bind. These guys are the only people i can find offering the refit service https://www.autolusso.co.uk/dpf-refit.html But a local garage might be avble to do it if they also provide remapping/tuning services.
  5. Did a search on this and couldn't find anything int he forums, which was a bit of surprise, so apologies if if it's me not figuring how to use the search function. So, as some diesel owners might be aware the MOT rules changed earlier this year. Thankfully i managed to sneak in under the older rules, buying myself a little time. But, as of my next MOT my car wont pass. I've had the DPF removed. I don't regret doing it one bit, in the first year i owned the car it was in the Skoda garage about 4 times after going in to limp home mode again and again with DPF issues. Since the DPF removal - nothing! Anyone had any experience putting a DPF off car through an MOT under the new rules, or even re-fitting a DPF? My big worry is that if i have one re-fitted i run the risk of making my car undriveable again. Quick google search shows a few companies offering this now, which is no surprise, looks like about £700ish all in. Any advice much appreciated. Ta
  6. They're not cheap though. £430 for 10 VIN limit, £575 for unlimited. Hhmmmm, might have to source a HEX-CAN instead at that price.
  7. Hi Chris Have you tried fitting the other wheel? Im interested in trying to fit MFSW to my octavia II vrs, do you happen to know if it'll be compatible? Cheers Dave
  8. Depends on year - if im right anything pre 2006 and its likely to be behind the glovebox, after that then its likely to be under the bonnet under wipers. Im sure someone with better knowledge/memory will correct me!! Might be interested in it depending on which module it is. Can you let me know when you've found it! Cheers
  9. Hi eddie. I'll need to Upgrade my Gateway to fit a columbus ive bought recently. Whats the advantage of one of the 7NO gateways over the 1KO's?? Cheers
  10. Did the columbus surround already get snaffled? Im after one of these if it doesnt fit with Matt's Fabia. Ta
  11. Any idea what postage might be, if you were willing to post? As far as drawbacks go i was thinking more of when out of DAB signal im guessing you cant get any radio at all??
  12. Ive had my vRS from about 45k, now got 113k on it. i think its always had that siren type whistle on spooling up. local garage questioned whether the turbo vanes might be getting clogged a little more recently, but i think its not related to the spooling siren/whistle. i have been interested in replacing it though...any ideas what it might cost? either recon or new(and improved of course!!) can be quite amusing when the passengers are searching round for the feds!
  13. Is this still up for sale Rustynuts? Ive been trying to get to the bottom of whether or not the Columbus units ever come with bluetooth built in? Ive seen around and about on some of the froums that the later models - ie this one probably with DAB, might have both? Any drawback to having DAB? Cheers
  14. So is the bluetooth up for grabs too? Or can you re-use that?
  15. Hhhmmm, couple of other forums suggest it might be possible, but it depends on what controller you've got. Im guessing the highline controller might solve that issue? Might have to ask someone who's cleverer than I.
  16. Hi all. Ive been trawling round briskoda and eBay trying to do exactly what i think you've been doing recently Nikonite. Im trying to upgrade my Stream to something that has everything in one box, but its proving complicated! Ive got myself a new (well, new to me!) maxidot cluster to begin with. Next up is head-unit +/- CAN, the car's currently in the garage looking into a coolant disappearing problem (fingers crossed) so i dont know if i'll actually need a new one yet. And then maybe MFSW. Is there any benefit in doing everything at once, or is it just as easy to do it piecemeal? Looks like an Amundsen+ would have everything in it, but looks like the screen is significantly smaller than the Columbus, and i suppose if im honest i really want the Columbus. As the newer bluetooth built in ones go for a whole bunch more, and i cant really find any anyway, i'll need to get the module too. How did you get on Nikonite?
  17. I'd agree with the above - although it does pain me being an Evertonian!! Lots of people will probably have had their DPF removed on the PD engines, so you dont need worry quite so much about that, although if you are planning on doing lots of small journeys then diesel might not be the right option, i do wonder if i'd do the same again sometimes. Wasn't sure to mention this or not....do a quick search for "PD stutter" on the forums. I'm not really sure if anyone's gotten to the bottom of this, or how real a problem it is specific to PD engines. Mine does suffer from this intermittently, hence the reason for not being sure whether or not to post, not sure how easy it'd be to pick up on a test drive. I've read it being described differently, but my experience is a pretty noticeable stutter at about 1800rpm when acclerating hard in 3rd say, or accelerating slowly through the same range in higher gears. The other thing to look for in the service history is related to the ABS/ESP system. Seem that this gets gunged up nicely and needs replacing, happily because its such a common problem a repair kit has been marketed bringing down cost to about £150-£200. So, not a disaster if it hasnt been done, but id expect it to need doing. Massive recall for injectors on the PDs - dont be alarmed by this in service history. Otherwise if everything else is equal try to get one with a maxidot display, perhaps columbus head unit. But, do it, get one.
  18. Group buy when it does become available?
  19. Still kicking myself for missing the 15% flash sale at Ross tech to get my hands on one of these. My ancient laptop really isn't worth trying to resurrect, so would be the ideal solution for iPad/phone. Im guessing no news on a UK roll-out or coming off Beta?
  20. out of interest Dan did you get the EGR delete and remap?? Been plagued by the PD stutter for a few years, and even after new/replacement engine it's still rearing its ugly head!!!
  21. Hi Rob, did you get anywhere with this? Im looking doing at a similar thing in my Octavia, thinking about SatNav also though...in for a penny and all that...
