door handle spring

Featured Replies

Hello,

Coming home from Christmas shopping as I've pulled the handle to open the door I felt this metal piece falling into my palm (pic below, USB cable for size comparison).

I *believe* it is from the spring that is spun around the plastic bit the door handle rotates around, as the handle feels loose now and also the spring (2nd pic - inside the inside door handle) looks definitely more loose than the other 3.

What I'd like to know:

  • How critical this is (the door/handle/lock) seems to work normally - I believe it just kind of preloads the handle so that it always returns flush to the door panel and has no "critical" task - no danger of the handle stop working suddenly. I'd be happy to be right on this
  • Replacement...

thanks,

Tiv

Hi Tiv.

Did you fix this in the end?

My wife just told me she felt a crunch when opening the door. Exact same thing has happened I think.
