  1. nice, let me know how the alk works out. the RARB is an Absolute treat, enjoy! im thinking about a susp/shocks upgrade next... wouldn't want anything that creates a very harsh or choppy/bumpy ride though
  2. that does sound strange. no problems with mine. i would recommend the upgrade to anyone who doesn't have an upgraded RARB. I got the Hard non adjustable one and it is amazing. Only had the back end slip once but i was cornering very fast/hard and hit the brake... out it popped. amazing upgrade to handling!
  3. Hi, the reverse speaker was playing fine. then it started to sound a bit muffled/interference when beeping. this got worse and worse until it didnt so much beep but make a horrible white noise style sound when trying to play the beep tone. a bit like the sound form dial up modems lol (but one consistent tone and not a scale of horrible muffled/interfernce noise). Then it sometimes wouldnt play any noise. these last few days i havent heard it at all. What could this be? I initially thought i just need a new speaker. Now i think perhaps its what ever powers the speaker needs replacing? Could it be loose wiring which has slowly been slipping off connection to the speaker and now has completly come off? i cannot find any info about the reverse sensor sytem. I do know that the speaker is located in the nearside pilar between the front and back door. or at least thats where it sounds like the noise is coming from. any ideas of where to start to resolve this? Thanks
  4. ive got a 2005 elegance 140 and my nearside mirror indicator bulbs gone. do you have to get that whole new unit and not just buy a new bulb?
  5. I e-mailed demon-tweeks the online shop selling these whiteline ARB's. they said that normally the non adjustable ones would be medium stiffness comparable with the adjustable ones. I thought if everyone sets them to the medium setting due to the stiffer setting creating more over and less under steer, making the back end to lively. That there was no point paying 35 extra for something i will never use. I bought the non adjustable ones . thanks for everyones help. looking forward to fitting this next week and hitting up some roundabouts for a test drive haha
  6. yes i think i will just get a rear one, been researching it all day and you are right. think i may go for the non adjustable one though. Surely they wouldnt make the non adjustable one stiffer then the stiffest setting on the adjustable modle. right?
  7. ONE LAST QUESTION.... http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/anti-roll-bars/car/skoda/octavia-04-on/2006/2-0td-140 adjustable £177 or non adjustable £142 ??????? im more inclined on saving £30 unless there is a stiffer setting obtainable form the adjustables? is the non adjustable set to the stiffest setting on the adjustable model?
  8. i'm pretty sure it snapped because i drove down an unclassified road which started off, not too rough, then had some quite challenging off road driving. there was no turning back so i had to keep going... wont be doing that ever again! still i have wanted to sort out the handling since getting it so its a motivator if nothing else. thanks for the reply's
  9. thats a great link mate thanks! very good article written there. I was just looking at the Whiteline RARB as well, so knowing that they are good i am sold! the garage down the road wanted 140 to replace the RARB with OEM part... think i am way better of getting the uprated bar myself for a similar price and buying some tools. thanks again.
  10. I have snapped the rear anti roll bar quite close to the linkage on one side. Im thinking about getting a performance roll bar (obviously one for the front as well) to replace it rather then another OEM part. Have you got up rated anti roll bars? are they good? worth the money? what ones have you got? would you recomend them or any others? what is the difference between OEM and uprated ones?
  11. i was looking for some mats recently and found this site which looks good for getting the colour and piping you want as they make them custom and the price is good. three different levels of price depending on how "luxurious" you want. http://www.mrcarmats.com/skoda-octavia-2004-current-1869.html the only thing for me is that my 05 Octavia doesnt seem to have the fastening holes :/ so i need to e-mail them and get some special ones made i bought some cheap ones from halfords that werent specific to the car and they are RUBBISH! keep slidding all around the place and spinning.... pay an extra tenner and get some that are specific to your car would be my advice
  12. there is a known fault with the putty on the windows (at least on my 2.0tdi elegance 140). i had a similar problem trying to find where the noise was coming from and thought it was the door seal. skoda are aware of this issue is what the guy at the dealership said.
  13. Hi, i just failed MOT on licence plate bulbs not working. i replaced them. no joy. I then checked all the fuses, which were all (and i mean all lol) in order. I had another check of the wiring going in to the bulbs which all looked ok (im no electrician). no wear and tear apart from one bit that looked a bit bodged. I unwrapped the masking/electrical tape to check the connections underneath that were ok, which they were. just to double check that wasnt the problem i stripped back the wire and connected the copper (or what ever it is) to fresh copper from the other wire and this didnt change a thing. There is a plug that is hanging loose and i spent a good 30 minutes looking for something to plug it into and couldnt find anything. in a last ditch attempt i plugged that into one of the sockets that one of the bulbs is connected to. Still no joy. Before i pick up the phone and call a electrician i just want to check that it isnt something a fresh pair of eyes couldnt easily spot so i put a little 2 minute video up on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtrnOpUcTiQ&context=C4baac17ADvjVQa1PpcFNNctcymZcr73GxJdsimI2rhJu7I5p0KLU= Thanks Sam
  14. this could be the soloution to my amp woe's! ... an hour you say i think i can make it last a lot longer then that with my skills lol. Well, lack of! any tips?
  15. I am running them together, but I did test if that was the cause by removing the power cable from the battery and amp and attached a seperate wire and ran it around the outside of the car and it still made the whine.
  16. Hi everyone, i have installed some sound equipment in my car and have a "wine" and bass click that speeds up with the press of the accelerator. I have tried the ground cable in various places and then ran a cable direct to the battery. no change. it doesn't make the wine or bass click with the engine off. So, I'm led to believe its EMI and i need a suppressor. I have no idea about this and apparently there various sizes and places to put them. Does anyone know what kind i need for a MK1 Octavia T reg? Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated. thanks, Dryden
  17. Thanks for all the help, i'll check it later today. Cheers everyone.
  18. Thanks for the post okenobi. Yep i am fully aware of that fact, i wont go into it but the way i wired them isn't straight forward (first time installation and i went full retard on it) and to check them in the way you suggested id need to take the carpet up again on both sides... lol Anyway, this information could be helpful for anyone replacing speakers in there car, who dont have them amped and just want to 'plug and play'.
  19. Hi, I have just upgraded the front speakers in the doors and fitted an amp. I'm just reading about amp installation a bit more in depth out of curiosity and have come across an article about speakers being in and out of phase with each other. I recall the wires being blue and brown and wondering which were positive and negative. I cant remember which way i did wire them now but does anyone know which is which? before anyone tries to state the obvious, there was no markings on the cables stating + or - I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks
  20. LOL thanks felicia16v for that amazing insight.... KenONeill - yes the fuel beep still happens, nothing for the seatbelts though, i'll have to get my mate to connect his magic machine to my car and see if that picks anything up then....
  21. And what if the buzzer (never sounds) doesn't work and the inerior light still works and turns on and off with the door opening/ignition turning off and locking of the car??
  22. Hi everyone,

recently got a 99 Octavia T reg. love it its a great car, handles nicely and nice and big too. coming from a Corsa to this was a treat as i am 6'3" and the Corsa was designed for the vertically challenged.

The car smelt pretty bad when i first got it like it was only used by naturists on hot summers days but that's faded a lot now. still get a slig...

  23. cant see in the dark

  24. I have glass lenses on mine and I have just had to replace one recently thanks to a indecisive dear in the road out of the road in the road out the road in the ro.... BANG! so its quite clean and not scratched. The lights were like this before as well its not a new issue after the lens replacement. I was looking at some better bulbs and yes they are blatantly worth a try, but it does seem to be more of an angle issue like they are pointing at the floor to much. Is there a way to adjust the angle manually? literally when I have to dip my beam I can barely see where I'm going and if there is oncoming traffic I cant see the road at all briefly as they pass.
  25. HI, As its started getting seriously dark out there now i have noticed that my headlights 'lighting distance' is so poor compared to other peoples cars i get into. I have adjusted the 'in car' 'light hieght' selcter. and its still bad even on max. i did have a look for some kind of manual adjustment screw or way to move the actual housing but no luck. so i have been looking at some driving lights http://www.amazon.com/KC-HiLiTES-634-Daylighter-Driving/dp/B0007O8S58 there quite expensive (to me anyway) and was wondering if anyone has actually used them, any suggestions?
