  1. It's not that bad, measure once and then twice more, if you're not happy you can always start again!! I used an ordinary ruler, masking tape, a marker pen with a fine tip and a spirit level... Hole saw bit is supplied and a perfect fit for the sensors!
  2. Just want to thank the guys that contributed to this thread which made my life so much easier when fitting. I did it in the following order; - Remove black bump strip (theres a moulding mark in the centre of the bumper underneath - use that as a centre point). - Mask up area below bumper (i put about 2" worth of tape down to give plenty of tape around where i was cutting) - Mark centre and outer points behind where the bump strip goes, then go 45mm below that (i used a ruler and spirit level to be as accurate as possible) and mark - Bite your lip and cut the holes. Get the drill bit in first (quote slowly) then speed the drill up before you put the hole saw in so that you don't rip the paint. - Repeat drilling x3 more times - Feed wires in and sensors into bumper (i routed mine behind some of the bumper fixings to tidy away as neat as possible - Remove foam wheel well liner, there are 2 grommits on the back "wall" of the wheel well, i fed the wires through one of these The rest is self explanitory! The hardest bit really is marking up the holes (which isn't that difficult with the comprehensive measurements already in this thead!). And the result...?
  3. I got the link from the Parking sensor thread. On the first page someone put the item number up on there. The colour i chose was "7. Bright Red". I took the black trim off. Behind it in the middle of the bumper is a mouding mark, this is dead centre so i then had a starting point. I measured left and right the distance required (again, in the Parking Sensor thread) and marked the area behind where the bump strip attaches. I then taped up the bumper with masking tape (directly under the bump strip area), marked up where i needed to drill (ruler and spirit level to make sure it was dead straight) then bit the bullet and drilled. I would be 100% confident if i ever did it again, once you do the first hole its fine. I would offer to help you do it but you are a little far away! Road trip
  4. Hard (and most scary, ever!) part done. Need to get a couple of clips, cable ties and connectors to finish off the wiring. Looks very simple to finish off!
  5. Can you tell me if the Depos came with all the covers at the rear of the headlights?
  6. Did the garage not service it before you collected it then?
  7. I would return it to the garage and tell them to sort it. One week of ownership and you have problems? What sort of mileage have you covered in that time? Do these run DMF's? Struggling to start could be signs of DMF failure.... On the other hand your glow plugs could just be Nackered. Can you get someone to diagnose it, VAG-COM or similar?
  8. Only OEM style, designed to replace the standard Xenon units.
  9. I'm tempted to get the Depo re-makes and fit HID's to them, always a temptation to hang on and wait for someone else to do it first though
  10. Put into reverse, beeps more frequently when you get closer to the wall!
  11. These turned up today, not a bad colour match at all, hopefully going to fit them over the weekend or next week!
  12. Bumping the thread... bought a set of these now, anyone got any fitting tips?
  13. Downpipe... does it stop at the cat or something? PM me some info? Cheers
  14. Still haven't fitted the TIP, or the Coil Pack cover i bought from Liverpool-Lad. Still need to paint the brakes and i've just taken delivery of a Reversing Sensor kit. Will do the sensor kit this weekend depending on how the weather is
  15. Isn't it a ball ache having to remove the decay every year for MOT though?
  16. He has your file and is going to load it back on? If he was doing a read of the ECU I wonder why he took a copy of it? Perhaps in case something like this happens! As to whether it works or not... Depends if he saved a copy before or after he did what ever it was that fudged it up!!
  17. Had a good look at the bumper trims today and the 'fading' is actually on top of the trims, if you scratch it with your fingernail it comes off so I'm going to have a look at scrubbing them up a bit, failing that I'm going to buy a tin of Plastidip. Also bought this, old TIP was a bit tired (shallow cracks in places) so I was on the look out for a Silicone one. Randomly talking about vRS's over on another forum and the previous owner popped up recognising the car! We've spoken in the past (I tracked him down and called him) but this time he messages me and offered me a Silicone TIP that he never got round to fitting, cost him about £80 delivered, he let me have it for £50 posted. Happy I've got it but I've heard they are buggers to fit so I'm expecting lots of swearing and cuts/bruises!
  18. I've got an eBay CAI, did have to relocate horns (temporarily with cable ties) but I'm going to take it back out, cut a couple of inches off it and put horns back. Impressed with it seeing as it cost £40!
  19. Hi all, For those of us that are just a bit far away for the west/east mids meets, does anyone in S-o-T area fancy a meet? Dates we can agree on if location is suitable? Phil
