  1. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to check from ECU data when a particular fault code or warning first arose?
  2. I was looking to upgrade my headlamp bulbs for Osram Nightbreakers. On Europarts both main and dipped bulbs are listed as H7s. I ordered some in their sale. However I looked at the main beam bulb and on the connector it says H15! Can someone advise me as to what bulbs I require. Looking at my VW California it seems it has the same configuration!
  3. Anyone experienced water collecting at bottom of drivers and passenger doors in sill area. When I open the doors there is a torrent of water dumped on the ground. Doesn't affect driver or passenger but my concern is what happens when this water freezes. I haven't approached Skoda yet.
  4. Just found out there's no CD player in my Scout. Is this standard or did they forget to put one in mine? If it's standard then how penny pinching is that? Especially when the Scout is a good hike in price over the standard Octavia!!! Wonder what else I'm missing?
  5. No I've never had the need for it. They also tried to flog me smart insurance to deal with stone chips etc but when I looked at the policy there were so many exclusions it wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. It's about time that the Office of Fair Trading had a good look at car sales and ancillary practices!
  6. Bought my latest car new and for first time succumb to the salesmanship perk ie had LifeShine applied. But how do I check its been done? Salesman forgot to register the warranty and all I've really got to show is a bag full of Autglym bits,a sticker in the windscreen and a paid invoice for the treatment. I have now received warranty documents For all I know the car could have been just polished up which didn't take much as it was new! Is there any positive way to check that the car has been treated. When I wash it I can't see any difference in the water beading or bodywork shining to my other car which hasn't been treated! Ok I'm a naturally suspicious person !!!
  7. Make sure you get the correct Rearguard for your car. My Scout which was new came with one fitted. It was for the ordinary estate not the Scout which has larger bumpers. As consequence boot didn't always close and it wasn't fitted centrally. Had it removed and had correct Scout Rearguard fitted. I have a Rearguard for a Mk lll Octavia estate if anyone is interested?
  8. Have now contacted Skoda UK for a response. I hope I don't get the same nebulous reply I got from VW!
  9. Had one fitted to my Scout. No issues. Looks good!
  10. I have experienced a similar phenomenon with my Scout. Skoda say its part of the stop/start system but I am dubious. They checked my car over and could not find any faults.I also experience a flat spot at 20mph at 2000 revs in second gear. Again Skoda have said there are no faults
  11. R22JGB Its exactly as you have described! Any ideas what it may be? Have you had it investigated?
  12. I recently got rid of a VW Tiguan after only 6 months because a) I did not like the electric handbrake and more concerning because when reversing and turning it had a jolt somewhere in the transmission or steering/ brake operation. It went back to VW 6 times, once for 17 days and they then concluded it was my style of driving. This was despite the fact a technician could get it to happen on my vehicle and other Tiguans. VW just do not have the answer as to what is causing it-other than the way I drive of course! I subsequently changed to a Scout as I'd previously had an Octavia 4x4. Sadly this car (the Scout) which is new has begun to exhibit a similar phenomenon! There appears to be a jolt from the transmission/brakes or steering when reversing slowly and turning right or left. It has begun to drive me mad! It cost me to change to get away from what I considered to be a fault on the Tiguan and now it seems I'm lumbered with the same phenomena on the Scout which I understand has a similar transmission setup to the Tiguan. I haven't contacted Skoda yet as the car has only done a 1000 miles and I want to see what happens. Has anyone any experience of this "jolting" or any idea what could be the cause?
  13. Is it easy to change the headlight bulbs on the Octavia III? My old one was a synch by removing the headlight unit! Not sure about the new one!
  14. Is it easy to change the headlight bulbs on the Octavia III? My old one was a synch by removing the headlight unit! Not sure about the new one!
  15. I ordered mudflaps for my new 2015 Octavia Scout. The dealer said they don't do them! Anyone fitted genuine Skoda mudflaps to their Mk III Scout? If so where did you source them please?
  16. Does the Octavia Scout lll come with a rear bumper protector as original equipment or an accessory? Mine has one but it's so ill fitting looks as if it should be on a Mondeo! I've had RGM protectors before and they are spot on. Don't know where this one came from its certainly not for my car.!!!!
  17. On the inside of the fuel tank flap on my car are the tyre pressures. This is normal but included is a pressure for "Economy " What does this mean? What's the effect of using this pressure?
  18. Scout - Off Road mode - what is it and what's it supposed to do? Dealer couldn't give me a sensible answer.
  19. Thanks for responses. I didn't like electric handbrake because it was a bit hit and miss towing. As far as the jolt VW don't have an answer. Mine could be dramatic at times as if a calliper was sized and freeing off. Tiguan good to drive but not vey economical.
  20. I'm getting rid of my 2015VW Tiguan and going back to a Skoda Octavia -this time a new Scout. On my manual Tiguan the car would jolt occasionally when being reversed slowly to the left . VW had it in on numerous occasions but found no fault. What they did find was that it was a characteristic of the model as other cars have it. They don't know what is causing it. My query is about the Scout drive train and is it the same as Tiguan? I hope it isn't because I couldn't put up with the phenomenon and the dreaded electric handbrake. Cost me money and I hope the change is worth it. Anyone know if the two vehicles share the same drive train or had any problems with the 4x4 setup?
  21. I'm torn between getting an Octavia Scout 4x4 manual or one with DSG. The manual has 150hp and the DSG 184 hp. The DSG is a demonstrator with approx 3000 miles and the manual is new. The DSG is £1000 cheaper and a saving of about £5000 but the saving on the new one is about £2000 Not having had a DSG before which one should I go for?
  22. I am thinking some of these to my 4x4 Octavia. Anyone got a recommendation on a make?
  23. I need to change the front tyres on my 4x4 Octavia. Do they need to be the same make as those on the back? I know its best to have matched tyres on each wheel of an axle but what about different makes from front to back?
  24. I am considering having a remap on my 2010 Octavia PD 140 4x4 with 23 thou on the clock. My concerns are will it knacker the DPF and if not which company should I go with? The engine is in good condition and I'm thinking of the basic remap. My local mechanic recommends Custom Code but I dont see much mention of them on this forum What do you think?
  25. I've decided to change the oil in the gearbox of my 2.0PD 4x4. ( not Haldex clutch) Are there any good oils recommended for this or should I stick with VAG oil?
