Convert electric bootlid to gas struts
No, everything still works as I described in my post. I must say that I am relieved as I was definitely more than a little apprehensive when I started the job. I still occasionally press the button on the tailgate to close it, but 6 years of doing that is a hard habit to break.

Aircon not working and metallic fan noise when turned on
Try listening under the glove box, because that's where the heater fan is mounted. If the noise is coming from there then you can fairly easily remove the fan housing and motor. Check on You tube for removal instructions. If the fan is "XXX" then replacements are available from Euro Car Parts. However if as you say the noise stops when the A/C is off then I would say the compressor/ bearings has gone. Again parts available from Euro Car parts and https://www.autodoc.co.uk/ both much cheaper then Skoda.

DSG Gear Knob - Chrome peeling
Sorry to disappoint you, but I tried the very same item. The cover was a poor fit and the hole at the front of item allowed the peeling chrome to still catch my fingers.. Hope you are more successful with your purchase. Thanks for keeping me in the loop.

coolant pump B
My understanding is that the coolant pump B, is a secondary pump to keep the water circulating through the turbo when it is hot and the engine has been switched off. It is electrical and sometimes runs when the engine is turned off to cool the turbo down. If your heating blows hot and cold you might want to check the temperature gauge . I had a similar problem where the temperature gauge would suddenly drop after being at 90 for sometime. This problem was related to a faulty DSG thermostat, which would stick open. Coolant thermostat for DSG gearbox oil cooler. It normally operates if the DSG oil reaches a certain temperature and effectively cools it down. What happens if it is faulty, is that water is constantly allowed to go through the DSG oil cooler and to the radiator. The end result is that water is always passing through the car radiator even though the correct engine operating temperature has not been reached. This means that the main water thermostat is by-passed. My DSG thermostat appeared to stick open sometimes when running, or remain open, resulting in the problems described.

Estate electric tailgate operators
I have a 2013 l & K estate with an electric tailgate operator. Today it decided not to work, and it seems one [hopefully] of the struts is faulty. Has anyone experienced this problem before, if so what is the solution and what is the cost. Any ideas/sources for a replacement?

Peeling chrome on DSG gear knob
I have raised this question before, but I am suffering with the chrome on the push button part of my DSG gear knob peeling off. It has got worse over time, to the point where I have now had to file the chrome plating off the avoid cuts etc, and I hate the end result I have checked with Skoda and it seems the replacement knob is £100++'s , Skoda Parts have a listing for the Gearshift lever head for DSG automatic transmission, with cuff (leatherette).at 148,45 € incl. VAT . But, I have found this Chinese web site offering the knob with LED light indicators at https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000194100570.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.5ec473ee6EXc5f&algo_pvid=e23f47aa-67df-4781-b22a-4ef73357a0e1&algo_expid=e23f47aa-67df-4781-b22a-4ef73357a0e1-0&btsid=0ab6f82415892156783221381e5de3&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_ for £43.42 + Shipping: £7.99 . Firstly, has anyone tried this in the past and secondly does anyone know how to remove the gear knob. Is it easy, if so how do i do it?
