  1. Join the club, it seems that this is a common fault! My system shuts down on a regular basis. If the radio is on , I get a high pitched noise, everything freezes- I can't switch if off. After a few moments the whole system shuts down and then starts up again tuned in to a different radio station. It happens when I'm using any function, including Android Auto. It now happens about every 20 mins or so. I've taken it to the dealer, who can't resolve the issue but suggest a major system upgrade is on the way. I've tried to contact Skoda customer services, and there is a major operating system update, Contact your dealer and book it in. This will be the second update in the last two months, let's hope this one works better than the first. On top of this my Internet connected services plan [Skoda Connect] has ended, and Skoda want £80 [Not worth it my my view, even if it worked] for another year's access to a system that does not work, so far and surprisingly I've resisted the temptation to renew
  2. Booked in for the second system update in the last two months. Let's hope this one is better than the first. System doesn't seem very robust
  3. I have had the same issue with my Kamiq SEL. Apparently there is a major system update from the main dealer. Mine is booked in for Monday 6th August, this will be the second update in the last two months. I do think the system is a bit flakey and we are the manufacturers test programme Another related issue is that I can't use Skoda Connect which I had recently renewed at a ridiculous price. Who would charge you for a system that doesn't work?
  4. What was the answer to the primary user issue? I have the same problem
  5. I had the updated system installed last week, so far so good, but cannot register me as the primary user and so cannot use Skoda Connect. [ Weakened and paid £36.00 to get internet access in the hope it would resolve some issues, it didn't ] The garage doesn't seem to know what to do, Skoda do not answer emails or the phone. How to lose a good reputation in two easy moves. 1 . Install a system that doesn't work 2. Don't respond to customer complaints
  6. I have been contacted by my local dealer and my 1.0 SEL DSG is now booked in for a complete system upgrade. Apparently the whole operating system is being stripped off and a new [hopefully improved] one installed. I also mentioned an issue with the drivers seat back rest which seems to self recline over a period of time. This, again, is a known issue and may require the existing seat back to be completely replaced. I will keep everyone informed.
  7. I thought it was me! The back rest of my SEL seems to have reclined every time I get in it. Glad to know I'm not going mad [at least as far as this is concerned]

  9. 16 months old, too late to reject. Problem only started few weeks ago
  10. Bought it, fitted it and it works fine. Good alternative system and much cheaper

  12. Yes, I understand about the lack of updates and traffic problems, but I tend to use either Waze or Google maps via Android Auto. Both give you an up to date maps and traffic warnings. I still think £44 is a lot of money for what you get, Skoda use the same internet connection supplier as Audi etc but their charges are excessive for the amount of data usage that most people will use
  13. Below are the figures for my Kamiq 1.0 DSG SEL after just over a year of ownership. I am very impressed with both the performance and fuel economy. Kamiq, quite comparable to my diesel Superb 170 DSG Miles / day Days Total Miles Litres MPG Cost p/mile 19.52 393 7,672 741 46.99 £ 811.76 0.1058 Superb Miles/Day Days Total Miles Litres Cost MPG p/mile 56.58 2,700 152,767 14,829 £ 17,616.35 46.77 £ 0.1153 20,652 7.397 Years
  14. Thanks, definitely worth a try at that price.
  15. Thanks for your reply, it sounds a good alternative. However, I cannot find any reference to a VW Connect Lite anywhere, do you have anymore information.
  16. Does anyone else think these charges are excessive? I don't use the services very much, the renewal cost is almost as much as my mobile phone's annual bill. I had an Audi A3 before the Kamiq and Audi offered the renewal free for the 3 years I had the car.
  17. The job was done at a main dealer, and the breakdown was as follows. Labour £350.0 New Rad £184.85 Fluids £22.47 Total £557.32 VAT £111.46 The water pump was replaced when the cam belt was changed at 110 K. Thanks for your thoughts
  18. I've just paid £670 to locate a coolant leak, it turned out the leak was from the radiator. The repair involved the replacement of the radiator which in turn required the front bumper to be removed. Does anyone have any experience of this sort of work and does the cost seem reasonable? The car has done 154K miles so I'm not too surprised that things are starting to wear out, but thought I would ask for your thoughts.
  19. Where did you get he replacement seat , I'm looking for an Ivory leather with heating and ventilation, due to wear on the bolster. .
  20. Hi there, I obtained the parts from :- https://www.autodoc.co.uk/ STARK Gas Spring, boot- / cargo area Article number: 430719110000 2 items x GBP 11,48 In stock GBP 22,96
  21. Thanks to both for your contributions, I didn't think it was possible and perhaps I will change the unit when this one breaks
  22. I have a 2013 L and K superb estate with the Columbus infotainment system HW version H20 SW Version 6276 with Map version 8348 with TV tuner. Does anyone know { i.e. Rustynuts] if it is possible to get android auto [ Waze etc ] to display on the unit? I can't imagine that it is possible, but if you don't ask..........
  23. I'm very grateful for you advice and encouragement. Thanks Sorry about changing your nationality🙄
  24. Yesterday I took the plunge and replaced my original chrome peeling gear knob with a Chinese aftermarket replacement . I ordered the new knob from Ali express and it cost me £21.00 including post and packing . Only time will tell if I've made the right decision ! After waiting for a several weeks the new unit arrived, I replaced it yesterday afternoon. The process was a bit fiddly and a little nerve racking but only took about 45 minutes. There were a few difficulties , like cutting off a retaining clamp to release the old knob and refitting the leather to the new knob. I have been in contact with another Briskoda member in New Zealand, who was tremendously helpful, and he supplied me with copies of the workshop manual and a lot of moral support.
  25. I have a MK2 facelift Superb 2.0 Diesel 170 BHP 2013. If I go to "Service" in the MFD display I see two elements 1. OIl Change 2. Inspection required. I was getting notification that the inspection was due and I wanted to reset that indicator. After searching YouTube I found i found a suggestion which involved pressing the "Trip" button then turning on the ignition, this unfortunately reset the Oil Change miles not the inspection miles. [See pictures ] Further research lead me to Switching on the Hazzard lights, pressing and holding the Trip reset button and then turn the ignition on, You are then asked if you want to reset the inspection interval. I clicked Yes and all is now sorted. However the Oil Change has been set to 0 miles /365 days, before I started the next Oil change was due in about 10,000 miles, any ideas what I can do to reset this? I do not have access to VCDS .
