  1. yes i am aware of all design faults with this car as i have had it from new since nov 2006. and have taken advice from many different avenues on the engine . i know of the one that failed at 37000 miles . mine is far less than that .nobody can give on here the percentage of oil shaft failures per 100 cars / can i say most modern cars fail in some area. this car will go when i can decide what to buy in 2013

  2. i need my next new car to tow 1100 kg of caravan i hope to change 2012 hoping my bss 22000 mile engine does not fail till then .i too are considering petrol such as 1.8 toyota valvematic no cambelt to change . no dpf worries. no dual massflywheel ibelieve .and no turbo. these are running costs idid not consider when i purchase new my car from the happy driver manufacturer plus atoyota 5year warr any comments?

  3. I'm thinking that us drivers are taken in by the acclaimed fuel ecconomy of diesels and the high torque figues some engines produce, yet dont take into account the expense and problems with the combustion side of things like disel particulate filters and the expense in replacing them in relatively short mileages. I personally think that the technology isnt quite there yet and reliability is another issue concerning these systems. I know common rail engines are supposed to be smoother, but what with the cost of diesel now compared to unleaded petrol, i am seriously thinking of going back to petrol engine derived cars and give them a try out after a 10year break !!

Ok some might argue they prefer diesel and some prefer petrol, but having read threads on the superb forum some diesel owners are certainly experiencing problems, especially diesel models.

As for you supurbia like me having had bad experiences with VW and you mention problems with your passat, then id go back and try vauxhall again...they are the dealer i will be dealing with when my wife's motability car has to be returned. Skoda wont be getting anymore business from me again.

  4. The weird comments are from those unfortunate owners who had the dreaded oil pump failures.....the comments are on here for a reason and you would be wise to take them seriously, avoid all 2.0 engines in the VAG line up, as for the newer models i would have thought the problem would have been sorted...but knowing VAG and their love of ripping ppl off when it comes dealing with them, it might be better to try another motor.

  6. well it looks like me oil pump has gone have changed the sensor but still the light stays on advice please guys do i

change the engine or change the oil pump and hope for the best ihave a skoda superb 2.0 diesel :(

can i ask the milage of this engine?

  7. The pump on my 2006 TDI 140 failed last year at 42,000 miles. New oil pump and new Turbo required.

Its been back on the road and now at 58,000 with no trouble since.

It still worries me though as i'm unsure whether to expect another failure. All the dealer would tell me is the new pump is a different part number.

  8. Well touchwood we havent had any issues with our greenline superb....and that does a lot of local trips and the religious weekly blast on the motorway....maybe it just needs a change in driver characteristics in order to keep the problem at bay?

Incidentally my old superb with the dpf had 38k on the clock, and not once has the dpf light been on, and that was driven in the same manner with the local trips and 20mins on the motorway once a week.

skodanut i see that skodacake has thred above

that gives contact for manual in it if you open .you have the correct e mail address for skoda c/z may be worth contact them, ok in english it says about oil pump issue?

  9. with respect rotodiesel ,many of us bought these 140s new not knowing there would be any problem with our investment if i exchanged for a new totota it would cost me £10.000.today what weare trying to find out is how many miles might i get and has replacment part been modified yet? so far i have seen no positive ans to this issue , regards .

  10. skodanut when we purchased our 140 it was never mentioned about oil pump problems in the nov 2006. as the euiv engine was in brochure avaible from week42 16 oct o6. mine was manufactured in aug that year salesperson never informed us of any dpf i was told it was improved version of 1.9 that was not av then all stock gone. the correct manual was missing on del as was service book replacement did arrive but was 1.9 book i have made a number of enquires about oil pump but seems grey area last one was again to the manufacturer of happy drivers! still waiting for tel call 2weeks ago .car now done from new 18.640 so still got some credit left i pray.by the way my engine number is bss 005280 could you advise what yours is?and are you any where near having repair yet yes i am a UNHAPPY DRIVER . regards , john

  11. Yes Mr rotodiesel does know his stuff, and if i had the knowledge of what i know now about the reliability of the 1.9, then i would have gone for the l+k version or the elegance...unfortunately the reliability of the 2.0 tdi 140 wasnt even mentioned when my wife and i bougt the car, and having read the threads on here, then we would still be driving around in luxurious version of the superb with a 1.9 tdi engine.....luck of the draw i guess.
