  1. Your right, I was using the images as a place holder as the 3rd car I'm considering is nearly the exact same other than engine size, but waiting on pictures of it. I accept bias, I've had an RS TDI and loved the effortless torque from its engine, even my current 20-25MPG 200 Kompressor does bring a smile when the slush box auto decides to engage. Haven't heard about Pedal Box, I must give a Google.
  2. So I've been away from the Skoda fold for the last 18 months, and am hopefully looking at 3 potential options on a Superb. 1 is an Ambition spec car, I believe the UK SE equivalent, and 2 are in Style spec (SE L). The Ambition and one of the Style spec cars come with the 1.6TDI 120PS engine and the other comes with the 2.0TDI 190PS engine. I personally feel the 1.6 would struggle considering the size of the Superb Prices are pretty much the same on the cars ~ €15,000. The only real difference is 10k miles, they all are at the 100k mile mark and 6 month gap between the registrations. Other than that they are 1 owner cars with full service history's. The heart is leading towards option one in the images, which has the 2.0TDI but out of the 3 attached which would be best?
  3. Look at the background photo of this. I believe that is without doubt the new Superb estate I also believe the white estate beside it is also the new Passat estate.
  4. Delighted for ya Shevlock after what probably felt like such a long wait. Enjoy all the miles ahead in her 👍
  5. Quick tip, go to Menu - Settings - Voice Control and you can turn off the hot word for Laura so she doesn't annoy you.
  6. The later build cars seem to be better built. I know my car is not a UK spec, it's Irish with the Columbus D head unit and is set to imperial units. ACC sees the KPH speed signs and converts and slows to the correct speed in mph on the virtual cockpit. The in built sat nav shows the distance in miles but I prefer using Google Maps/Android Auto which thankfully show directions in the virtual cockpit which can be seen in the attached picture. I do feel sorry for the many left frustrated here and hope Skoda UK will resolve such issues.
  7. Well she's finally plated and my god what a leap it is from my MK 3 RS in terms of technology, which touch wood has been absolutely flawless even though it's only day one of ownership. The ambient lighting, kessy, wireless Android Auto, digital cockpit, and the voodoo that is ACC are things I could never do without now in a car.
  8. So the car came in to Corbett's, just needs to be prepped and registered and we will be driving it on Friday 😁😁
  9. Nice result there @Aarond 👌 and sorry for the slightly further wait @Shelvock hopefully it'll be on the next ship 🙏
  10. Looks like our cars are off the coast of Cornwall on the Parana at the moment. Dealer rang me just there, should be in Waterford tomorrow or Saturday and will be ready for collection middle of next week 😁
  11. Ah sorry man it's the Style version I've gone for this time round, comfort has now over taken speed 😂 I think it'd be the SE-L spec equivalent in the UK but we get the reverse camera, scrolling rear indicators and 18" wheels as standard but no option of electric boot, rear heated seats or matrix LED lighting. Certainly exciting though I'll be checking marine finder religiously once I get word on shipping.
  12. @Aarond It's a bit of a list, it would've been more but sadly Irish VRT being what it is means no sunroof or Canton for Irish spec cars.
  13. So just a quick update on my original post, dealer rang me today. He could have the car in the dealership by next weekend depending on how full the ferry is to Dublin port. He will contact me next week to confirm for definite but having the car in a little over 10 weeks from initial order and all the optional extras is one hell of a result.
  14. The Accord had a drag cd of 0.30 this generation Octavia is at 0.25, so it cuts through the air much cleaner. The downside to this is when you open the window especially rear ones the whole airflow is completely disrupted, it has a term the Helmholtz resonance. Much like blowing over a bottle top the air resonates at a high frequency, in a car it's more a thump due to the volume of air being displaced inside the vehicle.
  15. Got an update from my dealer today. Car is to be built week 18(April 26th) and without any delays should be in Ireland end of May start of June, so looking at about 13 weeks in total from ordering, and I included ~€3k of optional extras on the car which I thought would have a knock on effect but seems to be no hold ups.
  16. It's very interesting reading. Here an Article in Czech dated yesterday with the head of Skoda says they don't plan on closing the plant even for Easter as to do so would cause delays in production, and a possible spike in cases as people would interact with those outside their immediate family. It takes 3 days wind down the plant apparently. He does acknowledge the global chip shortage as having an impact. When I ordered my car with a good number of optional extras I was informed of a 12-16 week wait, assuming the factory didn't suffer a mass outbreak of Covid. Will it be annoying if it's delayed a few weeks more, slightly yes, but on the other hand it could turn the Irish reg plate from a late 211 to a early 212 so its a case of swings and roundabouts, but I may contact my dealer next week to see if theres a build week update.
  17. No I believe you're right, and I'm wondering myself with future drives on the continent whether the standard LED setup means I have to buy deflectors as there is no mention in the manual about where they are to be placed on the headlights.
  18. That the Titan Blue? Have one ordered, but have not seen one in the flesh yet.
  19. So direct from the brochure effective 21/12/20. As we can see under ambient lighting and it's description, front and rear doors are both meant to have the LED strip with 10 colour options. Edit: Even further confirmation of the rear ambient door lighting on the configurator.
  20. It's really odd in relation to the ambient lighting. Looking here under ambient lighting it does mention light strips in all 4 doors.
  21. So its been a couple of years since I last posted on these boards. My previous 3rd Generation RS is gone to find a new home somewhere in Ireland, 4 years 2 months and 29,948miles later. Attached is the new family car. Full cost with change of Irish VAT rate, delivery etc was €33,000 and got it for €31,000 from Corbetts of Waterford. I did load up on the options, as I didn't want a "paddy spec" car. I know that's insulting, but we don't shell out much when it comes to optional extras and I wanted a car built for me not what's sitting in stock at Dublin port. I couldn't justify diesel again as you can see with the mileage covered in the RS, and having taken two test drives of the 1.0L it'll do my needs. Just an FYI to any Irish board members on here panoramic sunroofs are not available as it moves the car into a higher VRT bracket, I would've specced it otherwise. I would've also specced Canton upgrade but for whatever reason that is unavailable as well currently for the Irish market. car-card-C77F255D.pdf
  22. The only thing I could suggest is to change the AUTO lights to come on late in the car settings.
  23. So as the title suggests, and from feedback from some users along with new members who have joined would people be up for it.
  24. That's exactly it Mick, there's several options available, you'll want to copy the hotlink for forums. And nice choice on the colour, it's the exact same as mine As shown here image upload
  25. Welcome along Mick, hope you enjoy the vRS. There's a good Irish contingent growing here on the forum. What colour did you get it in?? Don't forget to put up photos of it in the Octavia 3 forum, Postimage.org is my own personal preference for uploading photos to the site. Hope you enjoy the forum.
