Travel Mode

Featured Replies

A few times now I have flicked through the settings to find that on Travel Mode it is on ‘Driving on the right’. I change it to ‘driving on the left’ and then forget about it for a while. Every time I have another look it is back to ‘Driving on the right’. Am I doing something wrong?? I’m in Ireland and we definitely drive on the left.

Have you checked what the units are? Miles or Km?

I wonder if this just another software bug?

My car is in km.

I’ve just had another look and it has changed itself back to Right hand traffic from this morning.

To be driving on the right and right hand traffic are two opposing things.

I drive on the left. The traffic is to my right.

That's one way to look at it.

So for instance if I had a UK car (right hand drive) and was driving Europe, what would the set up be??

It would be the opposite. I'm wondering if GPS is having a hand in this.

Have you been flashed at night by cars travelling in the opposite direction? If not, then I would suggest that there's little to worry about.

RHT is right-hand traffic, meaning you drive on the right side of the road. If you buy a car in the country with right-hand traffic (EU), you would buy LHD (left hand drive) car. If you would buy a car in the UK, it would be RHD (right hand car) and in the UK there is LHT (left-thand traffic) meaning you drive on the left side of the road.

Light configuration is related to the traffic flow. So in the EU you will use RHT regardless if your car is LHD or RHD.

I don’t have this option in my SE L 1st Edition.

Anyone know if it is...

...to do with the fact that it’s a relatively early build and suffers with the metric/imperial kph/mph issue?

or...

...because I have the normal LED headlights (not Matrix).

Thanks

That was my thinking of it. So why does it keep changing itself over to right hand traffic?

I haven’t really driven it in the dark yet.

Mine has this option and is stuck on right hand, and cannot be changed to left hand.

Stranger and stranger!!

Maybe this is the cause of problems with RHD cars and high-beam assist and matrix lights.

That's what the yoof at my garage suggested but mine seems to go from left to right hand ok. Matrix lights don't work and I've got the kph/mph and miles/km problems.

The sooner they actually take this thing back the better

Yes. This option applies only to full Matrix LED lights.

So I’ll have to find some deflectors when I go to mainland Europe. Was hoping those days were gone!

 C’est la vie...

My last RS MK3.5 only had the normal LED lights and the option was there to switch from left to right.

Seems like something may have been lost in the development of the mk4 then. I’ll give Skoda Uk a shout during the week.

Xenon lights always had it. At least they did on my old Yeti

Maybe I said it too fast. I assumed "full LED" applies to MATRIX LED lights. Could be I'm wrong.

No I believe you're right, and I'm wondering myself with future drives on the continent whether the standard LED setup means I have to buy deflectors as there is no mention in the manual about where they are to be placed on the headlights.

The manual won't tell you where to place deflectors, the deflectors will.

Think you were right - reading through the section of the manual again it makes sense that Full LED lights are the Matrix headlights. On my first few readings I assumed there was a non-LED headlight version - but there is no mention of Matrix in the manual.

Wouldn’t it be great if the various departments called the same thing by the same name! For a marketeer I guess Matrix Headlights has a bit more punch than Full LED ;-)
