  1. I have been looking at handsets for work and I can tell you about the following: Blackberry Z10 - HFP Blackberry Q10 - HFP Blackberry 9900 - RSAP Nokia 820 - HFP ( Windows 8 phones don't support RSAP) IPhone 4,4S and 5 - HFP Samsung Galaxy S 3 & 4 - RSAP Samsung Galaxy S 3 & 4 mini - RSAP Samsung Galaxy Grand - HFP Hope this helps?
  2. The extra kit in the L&K is certainly worth it. I bought a 4 month old L&K with auto dimming mirrors, motorised boot lid, heated windscreen and heated washer jets. I was looking at Elegance models but the L&K won it for me. In this weather the sunroof has been open most of the time. I hadn't thought how useful it would be. The other thing is that because the L&K also comes with a pre installed amp and extra speakers it just saves on having to retro fitting these items. I must admit though I have had speaker vibration in the rear door speakers which went back to the dealers to be fixed. All they did was pack the doors out. This hasn't fixed the problem... The one thing that I do miss is not having the DAB integration. I had a Passat as a hire car for a few days and that had DAB. The car would flip between dab and fm automatically. I haven't found an aftermarket unit that can do this yet. Probably would also recommend the MDI I have the Brown L&K 4x4 combi and I think the photos in the brochure doesn't do it justice! If you live any where near South Bristol then you are more than welcome to take a look.
  3. I can confirm that the S4 mini does work in rsap mode with Skoda Bluetooth Premium as I tested one in my L&K today. When it was first connected it did so in HFP mode. I had to go into settings in the car Bluetooth settings and select Premium which then kicked the phone into rsap mode. Additionally the S3 will work in rsap mode. However, if you ever come across the dual sim phone Samsung Galaxy Grand this only works in HFP mode. Hope this helps?
  4. Just my two pennies but I would hang on until there are some better models on the market. I have a 62 L&K which doesn't have dab. When it went in for repair I was given a passat as a courtesy car for a couple of days. This had a dab radio and I thought that the radio was brilliant and that it hardly lost the signal which was something I was concerned about. It dawned on me after a day or two that the radio was actually flicking between dab and fm. Every day on my commute to work it would flip at the same points. When I made some casual enquiries if the aftermarkets currently do this and the answer was no. So potentially you could end up with some gaps.
  5. On Saturday I bought a 4 month old 4x4 estate L and K. On Monday I noticed a pool of fluid under the car, called the dealer and Skoda Assist and on Tuesday lunchtime it was back at the dealers. It transpires that a seal had gone between the Haldex unit and the gear box. Apparently this seal on the Superb does not have a part number, however the Octavia does. The dealer is checking with Skoda UK and have ordered the Octy part just in case this fits. In all honesty the dealer have been really good and Skoda Assist have been great and I was back in a car by Monday evening (even though) it's a Vauxhall. It would appear that this seal failure is rare. The Skoda Assist man had said he had never seen this before and the fact there isn't a part number would suggest this is a common problem. Has any one else had this failure? What would you do in my position? I'm concerned that it could be a bit of a citrus fruit.
  6. My understanding is that whilst you can remap the CR engine you can't use the sts device to do it. There is hardware encryption on the ecu that needs to be physically bypassed and would be visible if inspected. With the PDs they don't have this kind of protection so the STS can be used. I had my 105PD engine remapped by W8 Performance and that was what he told me. In regards to warranty this topic had been widely discussed on this forum. but in the end it depends on whether the dealer can prove any warranty claim was caused by the remap or if they are feeling in a good mood that day. Hope this helps?
  7. I only managed to get £750 off my L&K. This was pretty much the most any dealer would reduce their screen price by and I tried four different dealers. Btw got my L&K yesterday. Drove it back from Worcester and I have to say the ride quality was brilliant and the sound system was excellant. Glad I bought it.
  8. Will they fit a 2012 Superb? Also what sort of money are you looking for?
  9. Pick up my L&K 4x4 170 estate today at 4pm and I can't wait. Getting it used from Startin Skoda. They have been brilliant. Mine is brown with a brown interior and a lot of people when I show them the exterior pictures think its black . I hope the 10 speaker ss will be better than the standard setup. In my Octy I went from a Stream to Bolero and then to a Columbus and I must admit I found the sound quality from the Bolero to be the best out of the three of them. I think this might of been because that was its primary role as opposed to the Columbus being a jack of all trades device. So with the Columbus outsourcing to the extra Amp I am hoping for a better sound Quailty. I have my CD collection on standby.
  10. As the title suggests does the privacy glass on the estate offer UV protection? I am picking up an L&K on Saturday and wonder if I need to buy blinds for the rear doors to provide protection for our 8 month old baby?
  11. I have an Octy 1.9tdi 4x4 and will be replacing it on Saturday with a Superb estate 2.0tdi 170bhp 4x4 and I can't wait. The Octy was good at towing so I sure the Superb will be even better. Whilst the Caravan club rated the 1.8 petrol highly as a tow car you can't beat a Diesel for towing.
  12. On Saturday I put a deposit down on a 5 month old Superb estate 2.0tdi 4x4 l&k. I will be trading in my Octy 4x4. Whilst it isn't going to change my mind I just wanted to know if there are any differences in the intended application of the two cars. I know my octy is 2nd gen Haldex compared to the newer 4th gen. But the octy has raised suspension and under body protection which the superb dosent (UK Spec) so is the superb aimed at those challenging 'road' conditions where 4x4 might be needed and the occasional manoeuvring on wet grass with a caravan. Whereas the octy 4x4 is designed more for country lanes and where more ground clearance is required? And Scouts are a bit more rugged again. Interested to hear people's views?
  13. Thanks for the update. I am hopefully buying one of these today. I know the dpf thing has been done to death but how do you find your car's recharge cycle? Does the light come on very often? I will be doing a similar commute, cross country A and B roads 16 miles to work.
  14. Hi John, I have attached the photos as requested. Images 1691 and 1692 are the shots of the seats in their normal position. I am 6ft (or there a bouts) and the position is fine. A Silvercross stage 0+ car seat fits fine in the space with the Isofix base. 1693 and 1694 show the seats fully back and the drivers is reclined. Images 1695 and 1696 show the front seats fully back and the space this gives in the front. btw please excuse the mess. Hope this helps? Lee
  15. I am just about to buy a 4x4 Superb Estate and I have a choice of three cars. One is a Black Elegance with Ivory and Black interior (Comes with auto boot) The second is a Beige Elegance again with the Ivory and Beige with the boot and front parking sensors Lastly the third is a Brown L & K with boot, park assist, 10 speakers and heated front wind screen. There is a difference in price of about £1k between them. The thing is i love all the gadgets but I am not sure about the brown colour and brown leather interior. Now if I could have it in black... Is the Brown a really bad colour? am I just being silly? Any advice would be appreciated?
  16. Hi John, I can do that for you. I can also show you a picture of a car seat in the back as well. We have an 8 month old and we take him in his Silver Cross car seat without any problems. To be fair though we normally put the seat on the passenger side. We do this with our A3 as well just out of habit. There is more space in the Octavia compared to a Fabia but then again there is even more space in a Superb. Will upload the photos tomorrow.
  17. It is a non dpf car. I will look to put some photos on at Lunchtime. Probably will be pre wash and vacuum.
  18. I am putting out feelers to see if anyone is interested in my 2006 55 plate 4x4 Octy estate. The car currently has 79k on the clock (this will increase as I use it daily) and has a full Skoda service history. The car Metallic Grey in Colour and comes with the following: Genuine Skoda detachable tow bar Maxidot (Retro fitted) Cruise Control Auto Lights (Retro fitted) Skoda Dog Guard - (There haven't been any dogs in the car for over a year so there is no 'dog' smell) Barjo Tail Gate Guard (allows you to open the boot of the car without letting them run free) FL Climantronic controls 2012 LED Columbus radio Kufatec Fiscon Bluetooth Car Kit Complete set of Alloys with Michelin Energy Tyres (I managed to source a duplicate set of alloys which are identical to the current wheels I have on the car. MDI Shark Stage 1 STS taking the car to 145bhp ish (This can be removed if required) The car was MOT'd in January this year so has another 10 months to run and Tax ends in July 13. It is now due a service and at 80k will require a Haldex Oil change. The car will also need it's timing belt changed in February next year. I have had the car for the last three and a bit years. The only problem I had was with the back brakes where they were binding. These were replaced and the car has had the problem since and I now get between 45mpg commuting and about 54mpg on Motorways (Maxidot figures). I am the second owner. The car is is good condition. There isn't any bodywork damage but there are one or two chips in the paint work that could be sorted by a chips away place. The only reason that I am selling the car is because I am looking to buy a new Skoda Superb 4x4 Estate. PM me if you are interested or have any questions.
  19. I run Quatrac 3's on my Octy 4x4 and personally I think they are a great tyre. They last quite well all year round and they have been brilliant in the snow. Also got me about at Glastonbury in the mud in 2011. Tyre wear isn't too bad either. The front lasted in excess of 20k miles. They are a good choice.
  20. Evening all, I have just had a Maxidot upgrade on my Octy but the system reset needs to be done to re enable ESP. Also a couple oc things need to change. During the week I work near Shepton Mallet, evening and weekends are spent in South Bristol. Is any body able to help? Thanks in advance...
  21. I have an update on this which I am still a bit confused but I will share with you all. After the Indy who 'couldn't' identify the problem I decided to give it to my friend who is a mechanic of at least 15 years experience. He took a look at the brakes, tried to readjust them as they had been over tightened and identified that the hand brake mechanism was broken and needed replacing. He said to take the car away and see if this improved the binding problem. This was in early Jan. The problem was still there and strangely the brakes would seize every now and again. I gave him a call and suggested that the back callipers should be replaced to try and resolve the issue. I agreed and I gave him my car. When he call me to collect the car he told me that on the Caliper that had been previously replaced by the other garage they had failed to secure the dust cap or something and this had led to the problems with brakes as water was getting in and was freezing in the calliper which is why it seized in the cold. Anyway I started to see a slight improvement in mpg maybe about 4mpg per long journey taking it up to 45/6 mpg on a run. However, what is really strange is yesterday and today I got 57 and 54.5 respectively! Going between Bristol and Runcorn. The only thing I can attribute to this is because my ESP OFF light is on. Now I am hoping it is not the ABS bringer of doom but I did a maxidot retrofit on Monday and I believe this might be the cause. I used a recycled cluster. I didn't have the error light on my old cluster but then again I didn't have the seat belt bong. I did have bong originally but when I removed it and disconnected the original cluster to install my Bluetooth a year or so I lost bong when I reinserted it. Can't say I missed it to be honest. Everything else seemed to work okay though. I know that the ESP option does affect MPG but really 10mpg??? Could reinserting the cluster make a difference to MPG. Lots of clues but no real answers... Any help would be appreciated. Btw hoping to scan my car to ensure its not the mk60 fault
