  1. Hi all, It's a loooong time since I have been on here (well ok about 3 years). I sold my MK1 Furby Vrs back at the tail end of 2012 and to be fair I have regretted doing so. I have since owned a Hyundai Coupe 2.0 (huge mistake that led to garage taking it back….long story) and am currently driving a 2011 plate Ford Focus Zetec in 1.8 petrol guise. So to cut to the point I am getting cravings for another fast, quirky euro hatch and the new MK2 Fabia Vrs is stirring my loins. So basically I'm just putting the feelers out and asking peoples thoughts on them in general. I understand that as this is a Skoda forum I am likely to get positive reviews of them but I am also asking what things I should look out for as a potential buyer. I have briefly read about oil consumption issues-is there anything I can check before buying to help avoid this? Also are there any desirable extras which I can look out for (cruise control, heated seats etc). A more general question is how do they drive? Do people like the DSG box? What is the power delivery like? Obviously I was used to the surge of torque from my PD130 block (remapped to 165) so how does the supercharged, turbocharged TSI affair deliver? Apologies for so many questions but all the same, many thanks in advance. Regards, Joe
  2. Have you tried the dash light dimmer dial? Located next to headlight controls. These sometimes play up a bit, just wheel it back and forth a few times, see if it flickers whilst you turn it.
  3. I consider myself trumped lol. Probably worth mentioning I have bought a few things off this seller and it's always been decent stuff
  4. My front callipers are just peeling in a few places. Would I be able to touch them up while they are on the car or is it really necessary to remove them? Might seem a daft question but I am not very mechanically minded. Cheers Joe
  5. I use meguiars interior cleaner once in a while. I keep a microfiber cloth in the door just to go over between cleans. I find it works well on those annoying marks left by sat nav/phone windscreen mounts as well. I don't wet it or anything just wipe over dry
  6. Does this mean half a lemon will bring my grubby green callipers up nice and clean? I'm tempted to try
  7. Just to let everyone these seem to be on offer. Got them from my Glossop branch of Halfords for £19.99 which is a bit of a bargain. Don't know which other branches they are at but I'm sure a quick scan round online will confirm.
  8. Fair amount of money for starters, think the jabba may be a tad thicker. Not sure though so correct me if I'm wrong
  9. Got it on the stiffest as recommended. Brilliant mod, well worth the money
  10. Is it still fairly predictable handling on stiff? I don't want to fly through a hedge backwards.....
  11. Just ordered mine from dpm performance. Excited! That is all
  12. As above I use Autosol on mine, comes up a real treat!
  13. Thanks for all the advice. To be honest it's not as bad as I thought. I have got a few people to have a look and they can't make out the outline without me prompting them so I'm going to leave it alone for now. Thank again! Joe
  14. I would but I don't have access to a machine polisher, will I do any harm carrying on with the scratch x?
  15. Just removed the Fabia badge from the boot of my yellow vrs. Once I removed all the adhesive I was left with a faint 'ghost' of fabia on my paintwork where the surrounding paint had faded ever so slightly. I have tried a number of things to get it to go but can't get rid of it completely. I have treated the area with rubbing compound (carefully!), megs scratch x and t-cut. It is better than it was but still isn't perfect. I'm hesitant to do any more as I don't want to eat into the clear coat too much. Has anyone got any suggestions or product recommendations? Cheers in advance Joe
  16. My 04 vrs has developed a strange quirk and it's niggling me somewhat. When cruising at a steady speed, let's say 30 mph in 3rd and I touch the gas gently the car seems to hesitate a touch longer than normal before responding. Once it responds it still pulls absolutely fine but it's just when gently applying throttle that it seems most prominent. I haven't given it a massive run in the last couple of weeks and as it has been icy I haven't really been opening it up either so I am hoping it's just something to do with that and needs a good blast but I wanted to post in here just to confirm, or find out if it is something more sinister. Thanks in advance Joe
  17. Hi. I might be interested in selling my Kingquick Technologies tuning module designed for Fabia vrs (pd130). Had it for under a year now and has brought brilliant results, taking a standard Furby vrs to about 165bhp. Any sensible offers pm me. More info on these modules can be found at kingquick.co.uk. Cost me £300 new
  18. Cheers, Oil level is pretty near the top, but like I say it sounds fine without the box, just a little noiser with the box. I think my question has been answered however.....We all live and learn I guess
  19. Hi all, I bought a tuning box from here; http://kingquick.co.uk/store/home.php, just under a year ago now. All has been well with the car obviously pulling better etc etc, However the other day my mate was parked up in his vrs at tickover and his just seemed to sound a bit smoother than mine. We both have 04 plates and his has roughly 80k on whereas mine has 48k. It had been bugging me for a few days so I decided to remove the tuning box tonight for a little test. Sure enough mine sounded a little smoother and how can I put it 'relaxed' without the tuning box on. What I want to know is, should I worry about running the car with the box or is it just a normal characteristic. There are no other strange noises with the box on, perhaps just whistles a little more as the turbo spools up quicker but I am hoping to keep my vrs a bit longer and don't fancy any big un-neccesary bills. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers Joe

  21. +1 Although as mentioned already a good claying session followed up with colly 476 seems to help
  22. I have a lemon yellow one! There used to be one lived near me but not seen it for aaaaages
  23. Having a few intermittent faults with my doors just lately. The interior light has stopped working on my drivers side front door, unless I open it really slowly, where it flickers on and then goes off. After a bit of searching I found that this was probably down to the microswitch in the lock. It also seems to be affecting the opening of the boot, with the boot not opening on the handle unless I have opened another door first. Can anybody advise me on how to get to the microswitch? I can't seem to access it without dismantling the door as I cant even see it. Spraying wd40 into the lock mechanism hasn't helped. Is there a quick fix I can try without dismantling the door or anything else I can try? Thanks all
