  2. Fitted a set to my wife's Fiesta, very easy to fit, only two wires, just make sure to measure hole positions carefully. They performed extremely well. She has now swapped the car and I have bought another set to fit to her new car. The whole kit was less than £50, compared to more than £100 for 1 genuine Skoda sensor.
  3. You are never going to get an objective reply on here! So - subjectively - the 2.5 V6 auto is the only one worth buying. It is smooth, quiet, reasonable economy. It will always appear from forums like these that all examples will all suffer from all the problems. This is clearly not the case and I bet that statistically most people will have few problems. Unfortunately, those untroubled people are unlikely to keep reporting about their latest non-problem. I have a 2.5 V6 Auto, a BMW F800ST motorcycle and did have a Ford Focus 1.8TDCi. If I were to believe the respective forum chatter for these 3 vehicles then all would fall apart as soon as move, with all sorts of problems that "all" seem to suffer from. However, that is not the case. I suggest you choose whichever car you want and make your own mind up.
  4. I replaced my missing ones with big, wide-headed self-tappers. They fix it much more firmly and cost me about £3 for a pack of 8
  5. I fitted a set of these to my wife's Fiesta and they work really well, look factory fitted and all for 1/5 of the price of 1 Skoda sensor. Highly recommended.
  6. I have just replaced the wipers on my 07 today and used Halfords Set 32 21" curved @ £17-99, for hooked fittings, and they are brilliant compared to the old ones. I did not realise that the passenger one should be curved to fit the bottom of the windscreen, as the old ones were straight. The new ones are very quiet and really dry the screen.
  7. Phil, mine does this, occurs infrequently, mainly the throttle. You are right, it is hard to explain. I do not worry about it.
  8. Oh_Superb, I have just realised that we live 20 minutes away from each other! I can show you how to get them off if you like, it's easier than trying to explain in words.
  9. You can remove all the sensors without removing the bumper. I can get all 4 of mine off in 10 minutes. There is a plastic cover to remove on the offside, held by 2 torx and 3 bolts.
  10. It's quite hard to describe in words, there are some photos on the forum somewhere, but you lay on the ground, put your right hand up inside the bumper and find the sensor and ease the 2 sides of the clip out while pushing the sensor into the bumper with your left hand. The sensor wiring plug is simply removed by pulling the clip towards the cable and the plug then pulls off. The only slight complication is that the offside sensor is blocked by a small plastic plate, but that is easily removed with a few torx screws/bolts. I can get all 4 sensors out in 10 minutes, including the plate.
  11. Hello Barny, You are not alone in suffering from this issue. It appears that the sensors are not very robust and can fail on a regular basis. I have just bought a 57 plate Superb with inoperative sensors. Luckily the main dealer agreed to replace 2 sensors under warranty. It is very easy to change the sensors yourself, without removing the bumper. However, they are £80-£90 each to buy! You can occasionally buy them from Ebay for less. If mine fail again out of warranty I am going to replace the whole lot with an after-market kit. I put a whole 4-sensor kit on my wife's Fiesta for £30 and that is very reliable and effective.
  12. You might want to take a look at Event Mobile Tyres - www.event-tyres.co.uk - they will come and fit them at your place, at a time of your choosing, balance, new valves, disposal, all in for £322 for the Falken 452.
  13. I have had a string of Fords, latterly a Focus TDCi, which I had for 5 years and loved apart from wishing it was automatic, I spotted a mint 57 plate Superb 2.5 TDi Auto, low mileage and too good to miss. I love it, although the economy is nowhere near the Focus - not to mention the Road Fund Licence (ouch!). However, the kids have left home and so why not indulge ourselves, we said. So far no wet patches inside, but the reverse sensors do not work. I got a local garage to plug his laptop in for free and it diagnosed one of the sensors defunct, as expected. However, I still have 6 months manufacturer's warranty and the main dealer has agreed to look at it and do it under warranty. Given the ridiculous cost of a single sensor, that is quite a relief. Not bad as I did not buy it from them.
