  1. Has anyone worked out if its possible to mate the Bolero to a Parrot kit/control box?
  2. Thanks for the heads up. I didn't think about the plate. On another note, taking my time over a 55 mile journey I managed to clock 50mpg. I think now I've learnt how to get the best out of the car I should be able to get a consistant 47 mph out of this car. Thats as long as I keep off the motorways. The car seems thirsty at 80?
  3. Hi all After looking at these forums for a couple of weeks I decided to bite the bullet and chop in my Ibiza FR Tdi for a Vrs PD. First impressions of the car are very very good. It is exceptionally well made and well finished imo. Its abit under spec'd, but this reflected is the price so I'm not too worried. After driving my superchipped Ibiza for over 3 years I was surprised of ths difference in the charateristics of the two engines. In standard form the Vrs feels far less torquey than other VAG diesels I have driven. However, I was shocked at how well it revs! I am used to shifting at 3k and making arlaming acceleration in the process. The Vrs doesn't seem to really get going until those revs are achieved. I am hoping the wonders of Will at P-Torque will change this. I think it looks fantastic in the flesh. I've been looking at the forums and all the retro fit options and although they all sound wonderful, none of them sound cheap. I've decided to refit my parrot and save myself £350. If I can mount it descretely near the steering wheel that will work fine. I have decided to go for the cruise control as a long of my commute is through average speed cameras. It will be nice to look where I am going again rather than at the speedo for over an hour. I've looked at the maxidot thingy and I am yet to really understand what it does? I can't see it changing my life in anyway so I am at present not considering getting one fitted. I may do in the future though along with the integrated Sat Nav if funds allow. The car is being remaped on Saturday so i'll report back with my opinions and some before and after power figures of course. Cheers George
  4. Oh yea I understand that. My Octavia has done 23k, so I would imagine it still needs to loosen up a bit anyway.
  5. I picked up my PD Vrs yesterday and I was a little surprised on the fuel consumption. On the way to pick the car up in my old Ibiza Tdi FR I averaged 52mpg, on the way back in the Vrs I got 43mpg. I was hoping for a little more tbh. I am hoping after P-Torque work there magic on Saturday it will be a little better. Has anyone got a remapped car and found the fuel consumption to be better afterwards?
  6. I've got mine booked in for Saturday 10th April. Can't wait!
  7. Thats a bit pants isn't it. You would think the unit would have its own bluetooth reciever in it. So in short neither the maxidot or the sat nav have the module. Its a completely seperate unit? Bloody headunit, maxidot and handsfree must be £1500 retrofit?
  8. Sorry I was reffering to the price of the unit. Looking on ebay they start from around £450. They look to have the calling buttons on them so I was making assumptions. Seems strange they don't support bluetooth calling independent of the maxidot? Sat Nav
  9. I really want this feature but its bloody expensive. Does the RNS510 not have bluetooth integrated? I would make more sense to me if you could get sat nav and bluetooth for around £500.
  10. Do you have the gear ratios for the 6 speed Diesel box in the Octavia?
  11. Excellent advice there, thank you very much. My lunch is going to be nice and chilled in there this summer.
  12. Is is possible to retro fit Xenons, or do they use a different light cluster?
  13. lol, I thought the same. When it said fairly straight forward I assumed I must be a real whimp when comes to that kind of stuff. I'll have a word with Ben @ Shark and see if its something he could do.
  14. Yes boss, I put a deposit on the car this afternoon, and on the remap. I just need some help with retrofitting kit. Ben at Shark Performance looks like a possibility?!
  15. So you either have a box or not then? I.e an arm rest or nothing? There doesn't appear to be a vent to/in the box? I've booked the car in for a P-Torque remap as well. Looking forward to removing the lag and freeing up the power.
  16. Thanks for the update mate. I've found this OEM Bluetooth installation guide. Do you know if anyone has tried this? I'll hold fire on the sat nav for now. I have a Nav Man anyway.
  17. Yea will got it for £11200 so still a great price. The car looks fantastic, but it is low on options and I nearly didn't buy it because of the rear windows. Still if I don't look in the back I won't see them... lol So retro fit jobs for me to sort first are: Cruise Control Maxidot Bluetooth Handsfree Any ideas of who can supply and fit these for sensible money? Does someone have a pic of the jumbo box? I don't think I have one of those either?... Sat Nav can weight, i'll use my Navman for the time being. Cheers again George
  18. Hah, Iim going to buy mine today. Yours sounds a cracking car, but I can't wait unfortunately.
  19. Thanks for the replies guys! I've been looking for a low mileage VRS tdi for well over a month now. This is the first 57 plate car with less than 40k to be advertised under £12k that I have come across. By the looks of it the spec isn't great. I'm guessing, windy rear windows (Shocking), no jumbo box, maxidot or cruise control? The main retrofits I will be after are bluetooth calling and cruise. I'm not sure whether to go for the Columbas Sat Nav or the Maxidot? What are your thoughts? What does the maxidot actually do and what is the cost of a retro fit? Same goes for cruise retro fit costs as well? Cheers in advance.
  20. Hi I have recently registered to this forum to find out a bit of info on the Octavia VRS. I'm going to look at this one today, hopefully part ex my Ibiza FR tdi against it. VRS Does this look like a good buy to you? It doesn't look very well spec'd, but the mileage and price seem good to me. Cheers George
  21. Hi, the car has red calipars. Silver VRS Is it correct that the UK cars do not have bluetooth connection? I might have to go for the RNS 510 sat nav and bluetooth kit. Cheers George
  22. Hi Guys. I've found this thread very interesting as I am to about to buy a Vrs tomorrow. I'm going for a 57 plate tdi in silver. I'm not sure exactly what the spec is but it looks from the pictures to have dual climate and 18s. Does anyone know what bits mentioned above should be standard? Cheers George
