Thanks for getting back to me
and thanks for the help offer, like you say shame your now too far away.
Do you mind if i ask how experienced are you with VCDS. (maybe you can offer some help)
I have to say i know pretty much nothing.
Another guy from this forum has kindly offered to help me (he's not too far away) he has his own VCDS and he confirmed its compatible with my car. 
But he admits he knows how to change codes/values but does not know what codes would need changing for my particular issue. 

We know its located in module 09
I changed the auto wiper/auto light sensor on my windscreen (old was faulty) . The old one is part number 5q0955547 but its been superceeded with part number 5q0955547b. The auto lights work fine but now the auto wipers have stopped working and intermittent does not work at all even in manual mode.
A few people have added some help on my question but i have to admit i'm a bit lost with all the coding.
I think all i need to find out is what code value i need to add/change to get the new sensor to work correctly
