My local Skoda dealer had a black Fabia vRS demonstrator which had a switchable digital box fitted. I took this car for a test drive straight after a Leon 130 so performance should be similar as the kerb weight was very close.
Anyway the dealer "accidentally" left the switch in the on position and didn't mention that the car had been modified, and I couldn't understand why it went a lot better than the Leon.
I found out that it was modified by word of mouth about a week later and told them I was not very happy and requested another test drive with the box turned off. If a dealers car has been "chipped" customers should be made aware of this.
After this misuse of trust we bought a brand new Fabia vRS from another dealer.

I had this probelm with my Mk3 Ibiza Cupra Turbo so I just removed the washer bottle cleaned it out and filled it up with fresh.
My girlfriend now has this problem with her Fab vRS but I assume the bumper has to be removed to take the washer bottle off and it smells real bad.

That torque figure is impressive, just about 400 Nm of torque! Need to persuade my Missus to get her Fab vRS mapped.

Why do you want a dealer to do it? Get a VAG specialist to change it, might be cheaper.
If you going to advertise your car here people know now the clutch is going, so it might be worth getting it changed.

leon1p, did you try fitting the led bulbs the other way round as they only work one way round unlike a normal bulb.

Have a look at this link:
Then select your car e.g. Skoda then Octavia, then read "What's bad."
"1.8 20v engines are snapping their timing belts at 70,000 - 80,000 miles and the extensive damage this causes is not repairable. The car will need a replacement engine."
Honestjohn.co.uk. is an informative website.
If you want to scare yourself select a Peugeot/Citroen and read "What's bad"

One of the guys at work wants to get rid of an Engine hoist, has no need for it anymore. It is hydraulic with a capacity of 2 tons, it folds up and comes with chains. It will need collecting from Lincoln, make an offer if you are interested?

It also helps having a remap does it not? If you car is running more boost then the noise to release this pressure will be louder.

Depends what you want, if you want a car with all the power above 5k rpm or a car with power from as low as 3k rpm.
The Honda will teach you to change gear and chase the redline, not that this is a bad thing of course. You don't have to drive the vRS as hard to get to the power.
Personal preference.

I've got a Kawasaki ZX6R, fairly nippy and cheap to run, Excellent fun round Cadwell park too.

Earlier Fabia vRS have longer 4th, 5th and 6th than the current ones. I think the current ones are doing about 2000rpm at 60mph in 6th? The older ones do about 1500rpm at 60mph in 6th. If your Cupra has the longer ratios this will make a big difference if suddenly hitting the loud pedal.
Also I think the Cupra 160 has a bigger turbo so it will take longer to spool up.

Good choice, I had a naked bandit 6 as my first proper bike, good fun and the missus enjoyed pillion.
Now I have got a sports bike she won't go pillion.

Excellent choice, I'd have the clio over the DC5.
If you get chance read Evo issue 83 sep 2005, awesome road test of a Trophy and M6 across Europe. The Trophy also came 3rd in Evo's Car of the year 2005 against some serious competition (issue 87 Jan 2006).
Enjoy.

If you change your wheels to smaller ones you might upset your insurance company. Also will 15" wheels fit over the front discs??

My Girlfriend has a 05 Fabia vRS that she has owned from new, she has also done 20k miles and is really impressed with the car.
I was as Jabbasport last week getting some work done on my own car (Seat Ibiza Cupra Turbo) and was discussing with them the possibility of getting the vRS remapped as my Ibiza was remapped by them 2 yrs ago.
I was basically told that the weak point on the Fabia is the clutch, and the remap has to limit the torque to give it a fighting chance. So realistically its worth budgeting for a perfomance clutch and a remap at the same time, so this has put me off for the time being as things start getting expensive.
So if you clutch dies early after a remap the dealers might not be interested.

nomad racing do pods for the leon and ibiza, are these compatable?
-
Good luck. Bikes a good fun and the acceleration rocks!

The Leon Cupra R style wheels are also available in 17" not just the 18" as fitted to the Cupra R. One Of my friends has a 05 Leon FR+ TDI and it wears the 17" version.

I was told by my local Skoda dealer that the vRS detects internal movement by a microwave sensor and it is fitted down by the handbrake area. Not sure if thats the truth but that is what he said.

HMM WATCH THIS SPACE..... ive been in his - its quick, but it doesnt hit ur head back in to the seat as the furby does though!
I would be interested in the results....1.3 Rallye's are suprising quick and remind me of an AX GT I once used to own, good fun to drive.

my mate has a pug 106 raylle - he recons he would pi%% all over the furby vrs... what u recon?
In acceleration my old 2001 model 106 GTi would beat the vRS say 0 to 60mph. On the road however the vRS would have the edge especially at overtaking. My little Peugeot was slightly modified as well with a full Pug sport group N exhaust with the dummy cat and a ecosse induction kit, but it needed the tits revving out of it all the time to get any where - handling was superb though.
As for the 1.3 rallye I think it would have one hell of a fight to beat a vRS on the road, maybe close 0 to 60 though.

Hello
Picked up a new vRS on tuesday to replace a Peugeot 106 GTi. It is faster than the 106 and I haven't used full throttle yet as it is being run in!
Amazing overtaking power.
Excellent Forum.

My Girlfriends 05 plate Fabia vRS has just started to suffer from this, tends to skip on small increments sometimes not working at all.
Is it just 4 of us with this problem then?
Anybody else with the same Problem?
