So, i've just ordered my brake pads and discs from eurocarparts.com, cost me £65.82 with next day delivery which i thought was pretty good! Imagine my surprise to check my bank account and notice that they didn't take £65.82.... instead they took £92.34... TWICE!!!! Then when i ring them i get "sorry, our systems are down at the moment". Anyone work for them that can give some insight, i thought this was a big and well recommended company?!? Whatever you do - Don't order from them today!!!!! :S :S :S

Out of interest, are these the same fitment as the non vRS 1.9TDi?

Are these the right pads and discs for my car?
Simonbt replied to Simonbt's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
They have FS-III printed on them - there seems to be only one set of discs that are 256mm (which i'm pretty sure are the right size) but unsure which pads are the right ones. I'll probably be going for Pagid out of recommendation from a few on here. -

Whats the difference between the calipers? Did they randomly fit different systems to different cars or is there some sort of pattern to it? -
I remember it being a pain when I did mine, I used a spanner for the passenger side and jacked it up as clearance is really bad.
-
Yeh, use a second jack to push the driveshaft up and out of the way - Be uber care you don't push it off the axelstands/jacks.

I was only thinking a minute ago that i could do with a dogbone mount!

I drive about 600miles a week so would be very surprised to see them rust up at all

Hi guys, So I've been having some ongoing issues with my brakes, after putting some (resonably cheap, from GSF) brake pads in the front i started getting some pretty annoying pad slap, where both sides would knock when applying and releasing the brakes. Admittedly very annoying, but was told by my mechanic not to worry about it. Now in the past few days i've started to get steering wheel shake when i brake, pretty much exactly what you would expect from a warped disc - the issue is that as the brakes heat up it seams to get a lot worse. I was driving from Sheffield to Manchester over snake pass on the weekend and about halfway across the car was shuddering horribly under braking, leave them to cooldown for a couple of mins and its just back to its normal shaking. Is this normal? Should the shaking get worse as the brakes heat up or is it likely to be something else at work here? The car doesn't shake at all without the brakes on from stopped right up to (a shade over) 70mph(!) and when i apply the brakes hard it stops in a straight line (with a little squirreling from the back end, but i think that's more down to having rubbish suspension). Also, i'm pretty put off buy cheap pads and discs - any sugestions of ones that will work and fit well? Its for a 1.9TDi (non-vrs) Thanks!

mine does the same, a little push down whilst operating it usually releases it first time. I'm yet to grease it up though!

135 quid for new tyre - so much for cheap motoring
Simonbt replied to sthodgson's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Cheap motoring comes with the assumption that you have some common sense £70 in diesel means you're either spilling an aweful lot, or going to an unreasonably expensive garage. The most i've managed to fit into mine is £58 worth (42 litres ish which was from almost fully empty to brimmed) and that was recently when it was costing about 140p a litre. -
Arent the dashes coded into specific parts in on the engine, making it slightly more than just a re-wiring job?
-
Its worthwhile getting new upper suspension mounts/bearings whilst you're changing things. You may find that you'll not require different droplinks, but you can get the shortened ones from DPM / Awesome etc..

EGR valve servo hose replacement
Simonbt replied to Tim 1986's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
ie. the black box that bolts over the top of the drivers side front shocker mount - it will have a handful of other pipes coming out of it. Normally all the connectors will have something connected (8 in total). -
"Well it doesn't hit stuff when its just me in the car......" "It's only hitting stuff on your side of the car...." *how to get punched in the jewels* :giggle:

Its likely to say "16v" or "MPi" on the back of the car

Main dealers, they are only a couple of quid. -
Its an SDi, so 200bhp would be quite a challenge

Had a go at fitting my components.

I've never seen the point in showing off speakers - they are there for your ears, not your eyes They are never going to sound as good as they could being attached there -

The MDF is bolted to the door then? Not sure looks should be your highest concern when fitting speakers -

Are the speakers just clipped onto the doorcard? I imagine they vibrate like a female dog? Headunit looks good, would like a double din like that myself. -
Will that fit straight onto the PD100? If so, PM me a price for the spoiler alone, may well be interested!
