VRS 245 - Engine warning light 15462 - Control Circuit for Coolant Bypass Valve / 20277 - Terminal 15 Voltage
Thanks for your response, just wondering for future reference what leads you to think the fault had been reset?

VRS 245 - Engine warning light 15462 - Control Circuit for Coolant Bypass Valve / 20277 - Terminal 15 Voltage
Well Skoda Garage have found a leak from the thermostat/water pump and think coolant must have got into the electrics....big job (and big bill if I didn't have a warranty). I'm sure my earlier googling did come up with similar as a potential cause on an Audi forum when I think about it, but the car has never reported low coolant. (My previous MK2 VRS fairly frequently told me it needed a top up but I never found a leak)

VRS 245 - Engine warning light 15462 - Control Circuit for Coolant Bypass Valve / 20277 - Terminal 15 Voltage
2017 VRS 245 on 37K Anyone seen these fault codes? Engine warning light came on about a week ago, went off again for a couple of days and came back on again. After another couple of days the lights gone out again. I've had the car since new and I bought the extended to five year warranty at purchase, but the local Skoda dealer want £100+ for diagnosis so I'd quite like to know if I'm likely to get that back. Not really using the car til it goes in on Monday but I'm assuming if the light is now off nothing is going to go pop, but confirmation would be nice. Google doesn't seem to give me much joy.

Still thinking about selling Yeti.....?
I read something similar, but you'd think a latest reg very low mileage petrol car cat would be in better nick than an old Prius' one.

Importing 2011 Yeti from Europe - any guidance on the speedometer and foglights?
Is having a MPH speedo really a requirement? I have an old LHD SEAT imported from Spain which has a KPH only speedo and passed every MOT from 2004 until a couple of years ago when it stopped needing a test (historic vehicle).

Still thinking about selling Yeti.....?
I reckon in a year or two the Dacia Duster might have a look in as a Yeti 4x4 replacement. The current model is streets behind the Yeti in build quality but the latest Sandero is a big step forward so the next Duster may be worth a look. I really like the Volvo XC40 but as others have said its in a different price league from Skoda.

Still thinking about selling Yeti.....?
Are they stealing them to as a cat to sell as used replacement part or just for the precious metals inside? If the latter I can't see the security etching making much difference. Not really sure why the criminals are targeting hybrids anyway, do they have different cats?

Battery change...
I had to disconnect the battery on our Yeti to replace the heated windscreen relay and lots of lights did appear and then just sorted themselves out after a short time. I asked on here about the consequences of disconnecting and was told to expect it.

Badly Corroded Yeti rear brake discs - is this normal ?
I can't say for certain... but I think a (subjective) visual disc check for corrosion and pitting started being applied in the MOT about the turn of the century

Badly Corroded Yeti rear brake discs - is this normal ?
I did replace the rear discs on our Yeti as they were an advisory on the first MOT at around 15K and did look awful, I do think however some MOT testers must be failing discs with fairly superficial surface rust. I would certainly try and get my discs "shiny" before presenting for an MOT. On the Octavia front on my Mk2 (same "generation" as the Yeti) had scored rear discs as an an advisory on the first MOT, whereas on my Mk3 the rear discs look pretty good after 3.5 years and 34K. To be fair however the Mk2 did live on the coast at that time, which may be a factor.

Parts For Sale: Octavia Mk3 Rubber Mats
View Advert Octavia Mk3 Rubber Mats Set of rubber floor mats for Octavia Mk3. Passenger and rear mats are Skoda Accessory with little wear, drivers is an aftermarket item practically new (in car for two short journeys). I've had the Skoda rubber mats in my car since new but the drivers mat recently developed a hole and you annoyingly can only buy the set. I've bought a new set but that left me with the three remaining mats. So I've sourced an aftermarket drivers mat to make a set. The new driver's mat is a good fit and has the correct fittings, but obviously isn't an exact match with the others (see photo). Skoda rubber mats are about £60 from the dealer, I'm looking for £20 for this set inc UK postage. Advertiser juan27 Date 01/03/21 Price £20 Category Parts for Sale Shipping Estimate £0

Floor mats
So just as a postscript I have ordered 4 new Skoda rubber mats whilst only needing the driver's one. I do wonder why Skoda-Parts.com (CZ) can sell these for €30.48 when the UK price seems to be around £60. I did see a nearly new Skoda rubber driver's mat only on ebay in Lithuania but the seller wanted €35! Alternatively you can buy an aftermarket driver's only rubber mat for about £13 but these do not have the molded lip round the edge which helps to stop melted snow or spillages from ending up on your carpets, and of course it won't match your other mats.

Floor mats
That's the standard VRS mat surely? It seems you can buy those individually, whereas the rubber mats can only be bought as a set, being an "accessory" rather than standard equipment. Very happy if anyone has managed to buy 5E2 862 436 singly however....?

Best car mats
So coming up to three years on I have a hole in my driver's mat and just tried to order 5E2 862 436 only to be told computer says no. Anyone successfully bought this without buying the set?

Floor mats
Just tried to order 5E2 862 436 (driver's side rubber mat) from Hortons but they say it's not recognised. Funnily enough Googling the part number brings up a 2018 post on here where I posted the number, buts my mats were new then.

Floor mats
So can you buy just the driver's mat from the rubber set? Like others I've got a hole in the driver's, but the other three mats are like new...... Had the same issue on my MK2 and ended up buying a whole set as I recall.

Heated Windscreen Relay
Probably spent far too much time thinking about this relay, but thanks to everyone for their help

Heated Windscreen Relay
If it is corrosion it's very localised to the spot weld. To be honest it looks more of a rivet maybe as it's through a piece of chromed spring steel and forms the contact. On closer examination I reckon it's just pressed to mushroom it maybe. You could well be right about lack of daily use. The car had only done 10k miles when we bought it at 26 months old, but has been in more or less daily use since we got it, so the damage probably happened in the first couple of years. I must say however that in any case I'm disappointed that it failed - are the camper vans you mention less than four years old?
-
Heated Windscreen Relay
Yes hopefully an isolated rather than design fault. Nobody seems to have had a similar issue on the forum so that gives me hope the fix should last..

Heated Windscreen Relay
Resistance across the output did not drop to zero when the coil was activated on the old relay. I opened it up and the cable connecting the moveable armature to the terminal separated from the armature with almost zero force, looks like it was a dodgy spot weld to me Probably manufacturing fault. I wonder if the heated windscreen has ever worked.

Heated Windscreen Relay
Just been out to the car (-3°C). Light dusting of frozen snow melted by heated windscreen alone in 5 mins. Success!

Heated Windscreen Relay
Yes testing the old (suspect) relay, and was really just checking that "switch on" makes a circuit. If you like, with the relay "on" I used the output terminals as part of a circuit to test the battery voltage, and didn't get the full 12v (approx) as expected. I'll check the resistance as suggested.

Heated Windscreen Relay
Ok I cleaned up the contacts on the original relay and tested it. 12V across the input and it clicks, but with + on one output terminal and multimeter back to negative on the other only getting 8.5V (consistently after checking leads and connections) Doesn't seem quite right?

Heated Windscreen Relay
Difficult to see in my photos but the relay connections are quite well shrouded. I did make an effort to clean the female side. I wonder if the corrosion is just lack of use of the car in its past life. (bought at two years old and 10k miles)
