  1. So I took the battery out and replaced the relay. It is attached to a plastic rail that slides out, it's a bit tight to pass the battery tray but with jiggling you can do it. You'll need a T20 Torx to unscrew it. We've had a couple of inches of snow today, now melting anyway so difficult to tell if it's done the trick. Ideally I'd like to put the meter across the screen terminals but I haven't worked out how to get to them yet. Terminals on the "old" relay showed some signs of corrosion but probably not significant. I'll connect it up to 12v and see if I can get it to click.
  2. No 8 in the e box?
  3. Ok checked both sides of the fuse....
  4. Ok a fair point and I do have a multimeter.
  5. Screen is literally brand new. Appreciate relays are reliable, but to be honest I can't think what else the problem could be on a 2017 car unless someone has been messing about with it. Ok will do
  6. Looks a bit different.
  7. OK I shall try the battery tomorrow.
  8. So I've got round to having a look, anyone got any advice on how to access and change the heated windscreen relay? Looks as though taking the battery out might help but I don't want to disconnect that unless absolutely necessary. Can't see any obvious way to remove the "e box" for access.
  9. The relay I mentioned is about £27 from Hortons. Quite a price but after a Google of the part number seems can't be had massively cheaper.
  10. Sorry 'e-box'? Is that the fuse box in the engine compartment?
  11. Anyone know where the heated windscreen relay is located on a 2017 Yeti L&K 1.4 TSi 4x4? The heated windscreen was replaced by Autoglass last summer but is now not working. The switch lights up but Autoglass say no power at the screen connections. Fuse looks fine. Skoda want £114 just to look at it, so thought I could at least check the relay... I think the part number is 3B0 951 253 can anyone confirm?
  12. It's an easy get out for Skoda to say a phone isn't on their list. Not sure I believe that's the issue really
  13. Can't help with the V/W speed rating cost question but I've had Cross Climates on my Otcy VRS 245 year round for two years and very happy with them, and when we buy tyres for our Yeti 4x4 we'll be going down that route. They aren't cheap, but my fronts are still on 3-4mm after 20K miles (on a FWD 245 PS car) so they last pretty well. Do you need any form of winter tyre? Kind of depends where you live and how desperately you need to drive on the odd occasions when the UK weather really demands them. But the fact you've got a 4x4 model kind of suggests you are interested in some grip.
  14. I've had Yakima/Whispbars on both my Mk2 and Mk3 VRS estates. The ones on the Mk2 had pretty heavy usage and did very well and were often left on for long periods as wind noise without a load is pretty much zero. I've mainly used them with Thule bike carriers which I've had since I had Thule bars (branded as a Volvo accessory) before my Skoda days) I'd say the quality is comparable with Thule. They aren't cheap, but they're cheaper than Thule
  15. Looks great, we bought a 17 plate petrol 4x4 last year and its settled in nicely.
  16. I have VRS MK2 Zenith 18s refinished in anchracite, but for some time I've been toying with the idea of a set of Neuspeed RSe10s just worry they might be a tad fragile for my needs.
  17. On the roads I mostly drive on (very rural Oxfordshire) the 19s are a liability. I think the car works very well on 18s and the tyres are cheaper as well. I had the 19s on for one year and had to replace two tyres due to potholes. 18s two years and no similar issues. I have DCC also.
  18. If I remember correctly the 1.3 gearbox has a better final drive ration for the 1.4s revvy nature, all well discussed on here if you search. My AFH retained the 1.6 box but I don't think its was ideal.
  19. Sounds like a no brainer as that's a massive drive just to get your car serviced. Does the local guy have a good reputation?
  20. I've got Yakima Whispbars. They are very quiet even at motorway speeds but not very cheap, (but cheaper than the Thule equivalents)
  21. I was reading about the O4 Scout today and they are talking about Gen 6 Haldex. I wonder if any of the issues have been addressed?
  22. Thinking about it will a Golf R on tarmac be using its Haldex as much as a Scout or Yeti on grass or mud?
  23. None of the Gen 5 VAG cars have an official schedule for filter cleaning, just oil change as far as I'm aware.
  24. Did you do this yourself?
  25. So having looked into this a bit I think the consensus is that Skoda will just change the oil whereas a proper job involves removing the pump and cleaning the filter. If this is not done the risk is that the pump fails or uses too much current to push oil through the clogged filter and burns out the controller. The end result is your 4x4 becomes FWD only. I've had an oil change done on our Yeti by Skoda, but I'm minded to take it to and independent that will do it properly in a couple of years.
