  1. Just took delivery of a proper spare wheel and tools (jack & wheel brace etc) for my Octavia vRS Blackline which came with a crappy pump and sealant gunge as standard.

I think its not at all bad value at £131 inc the V.A.T. as I was expecting a very narrow space saver wheel so when a 205/55 Continental Sport Contact 2 shod wheel turned up I was well chuffed.

Question: the standard wheels are 225/40 x 18, the spare is 205/55 x 16, is this correct? The overall diameter does look more or less the same.

  2. Cheers for this, I reckon if i got the squab replaced it'd probably just happen again thats the only thing. Also re the belt squeeks i think that is v common, bloody annoying though and a bit embarrasing when you get people looking at your 62 plate car squeeking away like its 20 odd years old.....still i might put it in and see what happens.

Did the same thing about my back bumper; there is a deviation in the bottom line of the bumper around the tow bar cutout; was like it when i picked it up almost like its not quite mounted right or has somehow been misformed in transit without the bumper actually being obviously damaged. Again not bad but shows on a white car and i know its there; dealer just said lots of them are like it and perfectly normal....its made me think twice about the actual quality of the build of the car and Skodas in general. Had two new ones (Fabia vRS estate and the Blackline estate) the Fabia had a load of silly warranty work, seems like the Octavia might be following the same path disappointingly......still my last MK6 Golf really was no better!

Mine is a white one too, I've also had quite a few minor but non the less irritating quality issues, I have managed to get them all sorted via the dealer, I think they think I'm very fussy but I'm not bothered one bit, I just tell them how it is and point out that it shouldn't be like that no matter how minor the issue. At the end of the day we are forking out a lot of hard earned cash and in return we have the right to expect all to be spot on regards quality, that's my opinion anyway.

Personally I don't think you will get far with the seat issue, they will just say that its down to leather being a natural product and that it does give with use blah blah blah, it's just how it is. Regards the odd cold start squeal from the belt I think the best they will do is just check / adjust its tension at most (that's if it is adjustable!), they may well again just say that it's relatively normal and not to worry about it. I now that its not actually anything to worry about i.e. its not doing any harm.

    ATB mate.

    Enjoy your new car. :)

  3. I have a vRS Blackline done 3000 miles and mine is exactly the same, i.e. the center of the drivers seat base has gone shiny and baggy. Its certainly nothing to do with weight as I'm of average build.

I also have a slipping belt type noise occasionally when its stood out in damp conditions overnight, I asked my local dealer about this a while ago and was told that its quite common and nothing to worry about!

  4. Asked a local Briskoda member with VCDS to help out activating my vrs Blacklines Bluetooth, just took a few minutes, no problem. Ordered the mic on Sunday 3rd Feb from Car-systems, it turned up yesterday (Thursday 7th), can't fault that for service from Poland, free shipping as well! Worked out about £30. Fitted it myself today, followed the excellent guide by 'Welsh_kai_boy' and had no problems whatsoever. All up and running, works a treat. I'd just like to say a big thank you to 'Welsh_kai_boy' for taking the time and effort to put together this excellent guide, as a result you have helped many of us who would not have known what was involved or where to start to get this job done.

    Thanks

  5. But if you have a Blackline all you need is the OE microphone and someone with VCDS to activate the OE bluetooth already fitted to the head unit.

Yep, I'm aware of that mate. You can't get it working for £30 though plus some of us don't want the hassle of removing trims etc, its a personal choice as is everything.

Just thought it may be of use and appeal to some of the guys out there that's all.

  6. Just thought I would share this find with others, anyone wanting to add Bluetooth functionality to their shiny new vRS Blackline (or any other model come to that). I purchased one of these 'SuperTooth buddy' a couple of months back and can't recommend it highly enough, it works flawlessly and the sound quality is great at both ends of the call, it really is great value for money. Obviously it doesn't quite live up to a built in system regards an inclusive phone book etc but hey, you can get them for around £30 if you shop about. There is no installation and it only takes a minute to set up, you clip it to your sun visor and away you go, happy days.

PS: Just for the record I am in no way connected with the manufacturers or distributors of this product

  7. Found it.

    http://www.roofbox.c...rs-cushions.php

Bought this - "Walser ZONDA Aerotex seat cushion, grey black"

Fairly hepls me. I actually find the seat quite comfy now plus it helps with air circulation and keeps your back cool on long journeys.

Thanks for that, I'll give it a try, as they are only £15 there's nothing lost if its not right for me, its hard to imagine that they can make them any more uncomfortable!

  8. I cured the narrow seat issue in mine also. Got a padded seat cushion from "roof box company". It lifts your arse sufficiently above the side bolsters so they dont dig in. Mines really comfy now and it protects the seat.

That sounds a good idea. Can you tell us exactly which one fits correctly? Had a look on their website but can't see any specifically for Skoda and the Octavia vRS?

  9. Me to, didn't know about all this lot when I test drove a demo on a nice dry autumn day and of course the dealer's salesman is never going to say anything negative about the motor that they are trying so hard to sell!

Mine steams up something rotten in certain weather conditions, ever likely as the boot gets filled with water every time you open it when the car is wet, it pours in everywhere when you open the hatch! Just to make things even worse I personally find the seats very uncomfortable, I'm of average build but for me they are to narrow. All in all very poor basic design flaws that should not be happening in this modern age!
