Blackline hatch - condensation inside car?

Featured Replies

Anyone else still suffering from this? I thought it might have gotten better over the last few months after buying from new, but the rear window and front windscreen are still misted up with moistness after standing.

Is there anything a dealer would do if I took it in?

They all do it to some extent. I noticed halfords do a moisture collector which I though about buying to stick on the rear shelf.

Seems to be a common trait - my MY2011 vRS does it - front clears quite quickly with the climate set to defrost, but the rear takes an age using the heated screen. :wall:

It was nice and dry when I test drove it last June, come the Autumn / Winter is when I found out that the Octavia seems to be a magnet for condensation.

I put an electric room dehumidifier in the boot and set it going a weekend. Cures the problem for months.

Bit extreme to have to do that though.

Damp by design.

This has been a common complaint with the Octavia around this time of year for at least as long as I can remember on here.

This happens in new Fabias too. Heated rear window also sometimes takes forever to clear the glass

Buy some silicon / moisture absorbent gel packs 10grm packs from amazon, only a few quid ! Put a couple in the boot, couple in the cabin ect .. Does the job for my 2011 Vrs .

As said above. Already been discussed o here several times. I got stuff from amazon for £17 and have now condensation whatsoever now and i have a wet dog in the boot each day.

My blackline suffers from it aswell as did my last vrs also my fathers se. I have placed a couple of those resin sachets you get in delivery boxes in the car and it appears to have done the trick._

Asda do some disposable de-humidifier thingies for £1 each - stick one in your boot and leave one in the passenger door pocket - problem solved. They last a good few months as well.

Mine doesn't steam up and I have a had a very slight water leak past my high level brake light for the last couple of months, so they do work. Luckily I have a plastic boot liner in so at least it isn't getting in to the carpets anywhere.

I've also got this on mine. I suspect its aggravated by the run off water that pools under the spoiler dropping into the boot when opened :(

I'll try some of those sachets though

Me to, didn't know about all this lot when I test drove a demo on a nice dry autumn day and of course the dealer's salesman is never going to say anything negative about the motor that they are trying so hard to sell!

Mine steams up something rotten in certain weather conditions, ever likely as the boot gets filled with water every time you open it when the car is wet, it pours in everywhere when you open the hatch! Just to make things even worse I personally find the seats very uncomfortable, I'm of average build but for me they are to narrow. All in all very poor basic design flaws that should not be happening in this modern age!

I cured the narrow seat issue in mine also. Got a padded seat cushion from "roof box company". It lifts your arse sufficiently above the side bolsters so they dont dig in. Mines really comfy now and it protects the seat.

yep my blackline does it too. will take the advice here and buy some moisture gels.

I've looked on eBay, and there are some large moisture absorbing pads that look substantial enough.......

I bought something similar from amazon. They work very well. Absolutely zero condensation in my car now and i used to get it really bad. Havent even dried my "pouches" out yet and they have been working for several weeks now. Get these or the ones i got from amazon and you wont regret it.

I have been getting this problem with my fabia since it was new, yesterday it was quite bad and had to use a microfibre to mop up the excess condensation.

Maybe it is indeed a design flaw as not happened to any other car i've owned (all non skoda/VW) - will have to give some of these ideas posted a go :)

That sounds a good idea. Can you tell us exactly which one fits correctly? Had a look on their website but can't see any specifically for Skoda and the Octavia vRS?

I posted it up weeks ago in a thread about car seat covers. I'll see if i can find the website and the item again and post it up. I'll stick it up when i find it.

Bought this - "Walser ZONDA Aerotex seat cushion, grey black"

Fairly hepls me. I actually find the seat quite comfy now plus it helps with air circulation and keeps your back cool on long journeys.

They look hideous! No way I would be putting them into my nice Blackline.

The kinda match the standard seats in my VRS. Maybe not so good on leather right enough.

I wasnt worried so much about the looks TBH as the bolsters were really uncomfortable so my comfort was my only real concern. There are black ones but yea dont expect something amazing looking for £15.
