  1. I am interested but not in a standard performance map, i'm after mpg increases, not torque. If I go in with the deal would shark be ok to lean the mapping towards MPG as opposed to performance gains?
  2. The method the 2 firms use is slightly different, shark will map the car themselves, diesel bob copies off the map, sends it to a dyno house in Germany and can get a power/balanced/mpg map back and copy over the existing map. Diesel bob is just round the corner and offers a 28 day money back if your not happy. Can you really map a car specifically for mpg/balanced/power?
  3. Ben was very helpful to chat to, and I am only keen on speaking to non revo resellers, I will only trust people who can create and maintain maps themselves. What change in mpg would you see on a 70mph motorway run?
  4. Where to get the best engine map for MPG on 2.0 140PS no DPF L&K Estate? I have so far 2 options that I have spoken to and sound trustworthy. Diesel Bob and Shark Does anyone have any experience of an economy/MPG improvoment map from either of these on a 2.0 140PS (if possible Occy Estate) and any personal experiences of MPG improvements or otherwise? Thanks
  5. Excellent, the other suggestion is to wire a cigarette socket (female) to a fused line into a ignition switched live point on the fuse board on the side of the dash using a spade and plug an existing cigarette charger into the female socket. You can squirrel away the wiring etc behind the dash around the steering wheel, just leaving a tidy wire coming up from the nearest gap in the dash.
  6. Does anyone know the wiring to go from a 12v spade to the USB connector for the iPhone TT dock?
  7. I like to buy decent rubber and have stuck with Bridgestone er30 for a while which are a bit soft but grip is what they are there for and have not really trusted budget buys, even though Avon are well known etc. Would anybody have an idea if going 225 to 195 would give lower rolling resistance and better mpg for motorway miles? Cheers
  8. Ok, so time for me to source the TT dock then, have also noticed that a spade connector to the fuse box can give me switched live, and then one 3.5mm jack cable for audio. Iphone TomTom Dock The other thing that I wondered is do you have the dab kit, or have people wired in dab e.g. Using pure etc?
  9. As standard there are 225/45/17 tyres on the sputnik's, they are not the cheapest tyre size, so has anyone changed the tyre to a narrower say 215 or 205 tyre width which should improve mpg and as I am a motorway hauler I don't need cornering grip etc.. Tyre Size Calculator I have changed tyres on other cars etc e.g. A2 guide
  10. Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the suggestions of the dock. It looks good but is the handsfree good enough for people to hear you and you to hear them on the motorway? As for iPhone tomtom the issue I have is Speedcameras and POI's, unless they are from tomtom you have to jailbreak to change them unless purchased from tomtom. e.g. if you used speedcamera db etc.. Speed is good and integration with your contacts addresses works well. If you install the dock do you plug it into the cigarette lighter or have you hardwired it to the 12v ignition? As the car has the Bolero system how do you get the music from the Phone to the Car stereo? CHeers, L
  11. What is the Best way to add IPhone 3G & 4 to Octavia Mk2 (Typ 1Z) BKD L&K with no phone kit as standard? I would like to use the phones handsfree and play the music from them. sat nav is on the phones etc..
  12. Skippy41 have a chat with Simon at grange lane motors in Accrington on 01254 392425, and I got the car remapped at Awesome GTI. The 1.8Turbo engine is loads of fun but as I had an 4.2l A8 before and I miss the space so the superb seems an ideal choice. So don't saddle yourself with just a choice of Derv or petrol, throw in other options, of which LPG is one of them I have found to be cheap if you do the mileage. P.s. No bother for me in travelling in France tunnels and swiss tunnells etc. the only restriction I found was eurotunnel, and I travel cheaper on Norfolkline ferries so was never inclined to use it :-). Good luck to all in working out if the 1.6 will work, as above I believe the turbo will go early in the car's life but I hope vag have done their calcs and the car runs fine with the power.
  13. LPG is indeed a hard thing to compare as people buy conversions (and there are quite a few on the bandwagon) using the cheapest possible solutions which is a bad idea, and cheap can often give a bad experience. You need to use a well supported and built system such as PRINS (dutch/japanese). I have seen cheap systems and would not touch them with a barge pole and have seen quality built systems (such as mine) which do not misfire, they do reduce MPG by 5-10% and this is down to how they are configured/set-up. The taxman is indeed taking his time as I converted in 2003 and paid 40p and there has been an astronomical 66% rise to 60p in 7 years. I have travelled all over Europe and LPG is everywhere (different nozzles which I kept the converters in my glovebox) The best thing for you to see is meet and try out a correctly converted car for yourself to make judgement. And what a typo above :-) I get about 25mpg I think, generally it costs £33 for 55Litres to go 300miles 1.8 20vT - 1781 cc inline-4 - DOHC 20v Turbo 132 kW (179 PS; 177 bhp) @ 5,500 235 N·m (173 ft·lbf) @ 1,950-5,000 AUQ 08/99–10/05 (accidentally chipped to 200 to 210bhp ish, but she is a bit old (X reg 2000) so I don't think that kind of power is left, boo)
  14. If cost per mile is what you want, get the petrol and convert it to LPG. Yes I know there may not be a supplier nearby, or it is not valid for road tax as it is not factory fitted, and yes it will take up some boot space and it will cost £1.5 to £2K to convert. I am waiting for my current car to pass by the economical repair point so that I can buy a superb. I currently drive a Seat Leon 1.8 LPG converted at 30K and chipped to 210BHP, she currently has 160K and runs fine and has had no major parts replaced costing about £300 a year to run. LPG is 60p, MPG is 35ish so cost per mile is good. Try factoring that into a decision of 1.6TDI vs Petrol: Model SE Price Econ. L/10K LPG 3.6 v6 28220 28 (10.01) 1668.33 £1,001.00 1.8 4x4 21430 34.9 (8.1) 1350.00 £810.00 1.8 DSG 21105 39.8 (7.1) 1183.33 £710.00 LPG is good for high mileage, the more mileage the more savings e.g. Model SE Price Econ L/40K LPG £ 3.6 v6 28220 28 (10.01) 6673.33 £4,004.00 1.8 4x4 21430 34.9 (8.1) 5400.00 £3,240.00 1.8 DSG 21105 39.8 (7.1) 4733.33 £2,840.00 worth a look for those interested ....
  15. That is excellent news, I also believe the 1.9 diesel engine is being replaced with the 1.6 Diesel in the next week or so with estimated reduction in running costs and improvement in MPG. Thanks for posting replies.
  16. I am looking to buy a superb and would like to get an idea of what mpg people are achieving on motorway runs? My commute is 99% motorway and I travel at 75mph on cruise and wanted to get an idea of what greenline diesels would achieve and what the petrol engines would achieve. Thanks if you can help. L
