  1. So funny you say this, quite bizarre and very very very sad but i've got instant notifications to this thread trying to work it all out and for some reason my phone buzzed off really early this morning and work me up relating to this thread, I could tell you'd changed the topic name so I guessed the problem had returned. As soon as I read it had returned the wastegate actuator rod popped straight into my head. I must have fell straight back to sleep because I didn't post it up there and only reading this now have I noticed thats what may have caused it. Strange but true. Cool story bro :wonder:
  2. Hi All, Me and a friend have been talking about going into buying, doing up and selling cars.. MOT failures little projects, breaking for spares etc. and we've had a bit of a bargain come around possibly getting the ball rolling and a bit of quick money in the pot We both have full time jobs but spend a lot of time together, both 21 not married etc and love cars and have pretty good knowledge of vehicle systems. I'm a fully qualified auto elec and he knows bits and bobs.. not scared of getting hands dirty anyway! He's a builder and a guy he works with has offered him first dibs on an Octavia TDi Ambiente. It's a 2002 Model, 75K on it. FSSH, cambelt done at 60K, Recent clutch/flywheel and a PD90 engine. All for the whopping sum of £1500, to my friend anyway. Very well looked after just has a few every day scratches Do you think that this could be a quick win for us to make a bit on considering he is getting mates rates? Having a browse on ebay, similar models with fairly higher mileage are going for about £2000-3000 But I'll leave it to the brisky boys, they know best! Advice would be great. Cheers, Lew
  3. Cheers FUBAR, seen your bike.. absolute minter by the looks of things. The reasons above are precisely why I want one, it's a ZX6R without the silly insurance and hooligan name. Insurers don't bat an eye lid at ZZR600 'sports tourer' but sh1te a brick upon hearing 21 Years old, 0 bike NCB & ZX6R or NINJA! My point is the ZZR has very usable power delivery but will still absolutely scare me to death if ridden hard, detuned to suit 99% of riders. Realistically I'm rarely going to be exploiting the top end of the bike's power especially after passing my test and really if I was I'm not going to notice the extra 7bhp down on the ZX6R. Probably not when weighing up that the bike cost £1000 less, insurance I can do in my own name cheaper than a named rider on a ZX6R and most examples are far better looked after by the right sort of people that you'd want to buy from. (I'm awfully particular) The bike is lower so more stable and less likely to have a low speed hiccup (of course it's going to happen) and is far more practical for commuting on too.. I wouldn't feel bad about racking up serious mileage on such a beast. Also very understated looks so unlikely to attract the wrong crowd. Looks like a pillion could enjoy being on the back too! Don't suppose you know of any info sites or forums etc? I've had a search but can't seem to find much, it looks as if bikes aren't as well catered for in terms of owners clubs probably purely down to how little people own them. Lew
  4. Awesome Vid Inspirational stuff. I love on any sunday, and.. yes. I'm 21. Born too late. haha
  5. I'm definitely considering a ZZR600, can insure it in my own name cheap as chips!
  6. Nothing compares! Nice just to get away from it all too.. not much else matters when you're on a bike giving it death eh!
  7. Forum rules How much for the DRZ :sun:
  8. Hi there! Firstly thank you. I went down the DAS route. Quite abnormal how it come about. I've always loved bikes as long as I could remember but with my 2 dirt bikes tucked away for the winter in dire need of rebuild I thought (never having rode on the road) that I'd do my CBT as a bit of a day out and something to do.. Finished that and the guy was very complimentary.. ready to go straight for a bigger bike etc. I kinda went to the CBT thing as if I'd never rode before probably picking up more bad habits than before.. I could pull one hell of a clutch wheelie on my old YZ125 etc.. haha So after that I decided to change the riding school with a recommendation from a friend around the same sort of stage as me. Done no training what so ever apart from the riding to and between the test centres and 2 hours module 1 off the road training. My advice is get it done this year unless you are above 24. If you google search new biking laws 2013 you will see that they are set to change drastically this year. If you fall into this haze of being between 21-24 then you are restricted at 40 something bhp (still a fair bit I know, but not direct access) for 2 years then have to re-do the complete tests again (mod 1 & 2) so you're looking at well over £1000 in test fee's which are likely to rise and fail rates increasing too. I paid best part of £550 for mine. Prices cover all of their bikes using my own gear and again no ACTUAL Lessons paid for CBT - £125 Theory £30 Mod 1 £220 - including 2 hours on the training ground Mod 2 £170 Just watch youtube vids.. That's what really helped me pass my test, that and I wasn't nervous one bit. I don't need a bike. When I took my car test I was bricking because I needed it for work etc. But I only wanted a bike. So I was a lot more relaxed and I think it shown on my riding. Once you understand slow speed control and roadcraft the tests are easy. They just want to see a demonstration of safety.
  9. Sorry, this wasn't an attempt at plugging. I will be advertising it on here when I get paid though if it isn't gone
  10. As much as it feels wrong.. all for the right reasons though. I'm feeling the same about putting mine up for swaps.
  11. Gutted for you mate.. but TBF £3800 isn't awful Will you be selling the whiteline separately?
  12. Again very nice! I'll be watching this
  13. Hi Everyone, I passed my module 2 DAS a couple of weeks back. I've always had dirt bikes in the past but now 21 it's time to get out on the road. Cost me a fortune in tests and I still passed everything first time and now im saving for a ZX6R. So yeah, do we have any briskoda bikers? If so, what bikes have you got? I'm chopping the vRS in for something cheaper now as I'll the bike for the thrills!
  14. Cheers for the kind comment Paul
  15. A few more of FOK'er After a little engine bay detail at the weekend And the green bulbs.. Look a lot greener at night, and cooler only taken on my phone not my Fuji bridge camera. I couldn't find any law saying they were illegal. Certainly I've never had any trouble with the law with them after a few months
  16. Hi All! I thought that i'd put up some pictures of my car for all to see! Nothing particularly special as most of the work has been replacing old bushes etc but it's my pride and joy. Exterior mods.. Not many. Wind deflectors, Xenon blue headlight bulbs and green number plate bulbs (not to everyone's taste I'm sure!) After a clean and polish (bit obsessive with car cleaning) she comes up beautifully.. Certainly doesn't look or feel like a 105k car
  17. I can't comment on the standard one, but the custom one for me is spot one.. IMO for the sake of the extra £££'s you're already travelling that far. Then you can say that map is designed for my car and the way that it operates. Not a base map etc etc. In this case mine on a custom map actually made 'less' power than what a typical base map would. But i'd much rather 5bhp less and have great driveability rather than another 5 bhp of pub talk and ****ty power delivery! At the end of the day everyone's car has adapted to their driving style over years, loading a base map on it would kind of defeat the object imo.. that's just my 2 pence. One size fits all however does work for some!
  18. Putting the RS up for sale booooo :(

  19. I've just had the Valeo one in mine.. Cracking feel through the pedal compared to my DMF. Can't really comment on longevity however I'm sure it's not going to be bad.
  20. My mate's dad has just bought an FR-V.. absolute cracker. Loads of clever/quirky little touches typical of a honda and that 2.2 CDTi lump well that is simply awesome. I imagine that you could map them into somewhat of a monster.. In a straight line anyway! Dread to think about hard cornering lol P.S. Unless you are seriously pressed for time I wouldn't settle for less than £4,000 for yours.
  21. Yeah as Liam-6 says.. Don't let a generic base map put you off mate.. Seriously! A real map should be as smooth as standard but just with more boost. Mine pulls like a diesel now but just keeps going all the way to the red line without dropping off. It's brilliant! People often describe it as night and day and it really is. It seems like Mapping the VAG 1.8T's, properly anyway, is a bit of a dark art best left to the enthusiasts/specialists.. R-Tech mapped mine and it is awesome. EDIT: Have you considered a shark Self tuning box?!
  22. Brilliant stuff. Truly amazing charity.. Really try to make life better for soldiers. Has the OP managed to arrange something where I can "wire da moniezzzz" to yet?
  23. Very interesting! Thanks for posting the info. I wonder if anyone has done such a test before/after fitting an induction system.
  24. I'll chuck in £3 instead of buying a pack of fags.. these would look better smoking.
  25. Ha, that could be a huge waste of time! The circuit must have a fuse.. it will be protected in one way or another.. is there any other electrical faults at all.. if so look for that fuse too!
