  1. The 1.6 tdi was intrduced in 2010 and all 1.6 tdi Fabia`s have a DPF.

The 1.9tdi & sdi Fabia was made from 2001 to 2010 and no Fabia 1.9tdi OR 1.9sdi have a dpf.

So the youngest Fabia diesel without a DPF is a 2010 Fabia 1.9tdi.

There none on autotrader at the moment but there are four 2009`s.

You might finf the following link useful.

  2. Mine was not so reliable on 12 mile journeys. It seem they run well when doing big milage but not so good on anything less than 30 mile runs. And no good if you had the delaer "fix" done. had enough after 4 years and chopped in for a non dpf Fabia.

  3. My 2011 1.6tdi often had a high tickover. Its part of the regen process. Sometimes flashing glow plug too that cleared after a run. I think it flashes when the DPF is over a certain % of particles and needs to burn them off.

I had the following replaced during my ownership, O2 Sensor, EGR valve & exhaust gas temp sensor.  I was glad to get swap for 1.9tdi. I had a slightly sticky accelerator pedal on my 1.9 but cured it with WD40.

  4. More important is are you doing long journeys to keep the DPF running OK. This car needs long runs every week to help the DPF regenerate. If you just pootle around town a 2010 1.9tdi fabia diesel would be better.

Has it had the emissions fix? If you have no knowledge of theses thing I suggest you google them.

  5. Change the oil and filter every 10k and the engine will outlive every thing else on the car. My family put 190k on a mk1 1.9 sdi and the engine was fine when we sold on. This engine was the taxi drivers favourite in the octavia before euro 5 regs often reaching 250 to 300k.

  6. I have scoured this site for and tried all the service reset methods and failed. Even weird one like putting on hazard flashers. Does anyone know a cheap OBD2 scanner that will turn off the service now message and that little spanner.

    Car is an 1.9tdi 2009.

  7. It needs a diagnosis plugging in to find the fault. Skoda dealer will have the latest software but will charge £60ish just to diagnose. I had 3 of these on my old 1.6tdi. They were O2 sensor. exhaust gas temp sensor and the failed egr. Dealer said the egr would have been £600 if not done under warranty as it needed 5 hours labour.

Chopped mine in for the ever reliable 1.9tdi.

    I bought a Fabia 2013 1.2 SE 12v 55kw that has covered 42k about a week ago

You have statutory right for 6 months to return a car to a motor trader to have any problems put right. If the trader is any good he will take a look at the car without any fuss or quibbles. It will be a normal part of his business. On your fault I had what I was convinced was a rear brake squeal. It turned out to be the front pads needed a little silicone grease on the pad / caliper sliders. Cost me £20.

it will probably be a simple fix for your motor trader tom rectify.

Have you considered a Fabia 1.9TDI in 3 form, top of range with good equipment levels which while it will be an older car, has the bulletproof 1.9TDI without the EGR issue of the 1.2 and 1.6 TDI that appear to occur after the VW emissions "fix".

Agree. I had 1.6tdi and traded for a 1.9tdi. More reliable simpler engine. easy to service. Same mpg. No DPF to worry about.

  10. I had to have one drilled out by a tyre fitting business. When I last changed my car the first thing I did was remove the security bolts and replace with a standard ones. I might put them bock in if I had to park some where dodgy overnight.

usual symptoms of the passive regen are high idle, lumpy running, fans running and burning smell coming from the DPF.

The emissions fix has not been carried out and so is all as per when it left the factory.

What app can i get to see what it is doing?

I think what you are describing is an active regen when your ECU raises tick over and injects an fuel on exhaust stroke to heat up the DPF.

A passive regen is when the ECU does nothing extra but the soot in the DPF is burnt off due to high engine load.
