About Me
I'm a retired teacher/headteacher, local authority adviser and HMI, still doing some educational consultancy work in the UK and in Europe. Living in the depths of the Yorkshire Dales, I need a 4x4 with good ground clearance - so far I've had a Freelander (constant problems), a Honda CR-V (fine, but very dull), a 4x4 Golf (good car but poor clearance when tackling flooded roads) and most recently an Octavia Scout (excellent - but bigger than I needed). My Yeti is proving to be the best of the lot and I am now a great fan of the Skoda marque (if not of their customer services!).
For my sins, I'm also a Blackburn Rovers supporter (we lived very near Ewood Park when first married) and a keen cricket fan: my birthplace was Gravesend, so I support Kent County Cricket Club (but also Hampshire, as my parents moved there when I was at University, Lancashire, as that's where my wife is from, and Yorkshire, as that's where we've lived for 25 years: so I have a fair chance of winning something each season!).
I have just bought a lhd Peugeot 207cc to keep at our flat in the south of France (so I can swan around with the top down, indulging my late life crisis). My wife has a Fiat Panda Cross 4x4, good in many ways, but it has gone through (very expensive) brake discs/pads in under 15000 miles and we are thinking of changing it for a Suzuki SX4 4x4.
