Thanks for the suggestions, my Iphone does not have NCF and my key is usually in either the car, blazer pocket, either on my desk at work or on a shelf at home.
My car is booked in at the dealers between Christmass and new year and I am looking to leave the problem key with the dealer first with a new CR2025 in it.

My service book says Q16 and my car is set to 10k service.

Q16 is fixed 10k miles servicing, but the Octavia can on to variable 20k or two years. If you get the car serviced at Skoda garage ask them to change the service schedule to variable.
Mine is on PCP and set to 10k at the end I will get the schedule changed.

All the batteries have come from either Sainsburys or Skoda. Duracell and Sony (Skoda supplied) CR2025 last 2 weeks then tried the CR3032 that has lasted 2 months.

I have had to change the battery on one of my keys and the new Duracell batteries only last a couple of months. Both keys have been with the dealer and they say nothing wrong.
I am currently using the spare that has been in my wife;s hand bag since i got the car- for nearly two years.
My keys are usually, at home on a shelf, in the car or on my desk at work and on occasion in my pocket if needed.
Anybody had this before and got any ideas.

I would think the maker's think about colour blind people and the avatar is always white.

missing the bit about Skoda having the 'highest utilisation of courtesy cars in the UK'.
Is it in the 2nd link?
It's my humor, the inital post implys the cars break down a lot and courtesy cars are used and I provided links to surveys showing the opposite.

Actually a usefull post, I now know Skodas are the most reliable cars on the road and if it breaks down Skoda will provide a courtesy car when others would not.

I love the ACC and Dsg combination.
You can drive pretty far without touching the pedals.

With a DSG you can can use it around town when traffic is flowing.

Must have on an DSG estate:
1 Adaptive cruise control. Use it all the time and works really well. Turn it on and steer, be ready to make the odd intervention. It's so good, I don't think I'd buy another auto/DSG without it.
2 Spare wheel
Niece to have:
Power boot
Spare wheel, I know I listed it above, in 10 years of driving I needed a spare wheel once 6 months after getting the Octy.
Three spoke steering wheel with flappy paddles

Not sure if I will be able to get my winter wheels on my car this year - currently not allowed to lift anything heavy.
I should be able to drive again early this week, my car currently has snow all over it and more forcast

A possible answer.
Tyres naturally loose pressure over time as the oxygen creeps through the rubber, If the tyre pressures were close to the TPMS limits and then the temperare drops, the air in the tyre shriks setting the alarm off.

jonro2009, the 1.4 is a very good engine choice. Using the configrator it looks like a good deal to me, but only you can make that choice.

I see there are a lot of vRS owners on this forum but are there also owners of the smaller 1.4 engine with the DSG7 transmission?
Are you happy with performance/consumption/reliability?

(I have stopped using sport mode or I will have points on my licence.Consumption with upto 4 in and mainly round town driving 7.4 l/100km.
No problems so far.

OctaviaGreenline3 you are experiencing a well known issue with DPFs and motorway driving, most people drive down the motorway in top grear with the rpm to low to generate a regeneration, The DPF fills during the high speed run and when you come off the car completes an active regeneration, try dropping down a gear for a while on the motorway to create a passive regen.
You should not see the DPF light, of you do you have a problem,

VW produce two different 1.4TSI engines, one with and one without ACT.
If you look at the golf they have both engines.

It looks like the 1.4 ACT engines put into VW, Audi and Seat cars that could be effected.

I forgot to say the most of the time I drive with passengers, on the 400 mile run there were four people in the car.
If most of the time you're running a 1.4TSI with just the driver, the MPG should be even better than I see.

I use Nokian and am very happy with them and I would say they are quiter then the continentals supplied with the car.

For all journeys (mainley around town and measured) I am averaging 38.3 MPG from my 1.4TSI DSG.
On a recent 400 mile run including the M25 car park the car averaged a measured 46 car readout 48.4 - on the motorway sections at 70 the car read 51MPG.
I suspect the 1.4 will give you pretty much the same MPG as your 1.9TDI on the same run.

You need to be aware a DPF is a servicable item - page 68 of the liked document - also viewed as life of car item 12000 or 10 years.
