Roomster replacement
I may have jumped the gun over Roomsters being problem free ,except for door wiring looms ,as the recent post on 1.2 tsi timing chair says otherwise. And when you google it ,a lot of issues are thrown up.I won't say any more as I am not qualified on the matter. Not noticed the Ford Tourneo Courier before it does seem to match the Roomster on carrying capacity.

Roomster replacement
Ha!reminds me of travelling ( or crawling) on the A38 to Devon and Cornwall before the motorways were built, and there would always be a big hold up at North Petherton with cars overheating on mass.I had my second hand VW beetle, air cooled of course and could feel pretty smug,as it would never overheat.Mind you driving a beetle in those days you were thought of as being a little odd.And I'm sure people think the same today about me driving a Roomster.Thankfully today car engine cooling systems are a lot more reliable. And on reflection on recent similar trips on the motorway it is still one long crawl at times,so nothing changes!

Roomster replacement
It's a question that has been asked before on this forum ,with no real answer found.Nothing matches its carrying capacity for its small wheelbase as far as I know. For me the only replacement should I need one is another secondhand Roomster with a mileage between 40 and 80k. To me its a workhorse and not about refinement. The only problem the Roomster seems to throw up is the broken door loom wiring ,which I think should be a DIY prospect.Don,t know about DSG does that cause reliability problems? Everything regarding motoring is so uncertain at the moment ,so I will stick with what I know ,till Im forced to change.

7 years of ownership
Yes had my 2007 1.9 scout about 10 years now.I agree like a tractor in low gears but once you get up in high gears goes like a rocket. Also easy to park and a great workhorse. Before the virus struck my daughter had tried 3 times to have a new condenser dryer machine delivered through Currys paying extra for a timed delivery appointment. Each time she waited in they cancelled. So ringing a factory outlet ,they had one cheaper could I collect. With the Roomster didn't even have to measure. So within about an hour or so new one picked up and installed, and old one taken to the tip.(it was bought second hand so was beyond repair). Yes for what it is a great utility workhorse.

2007 ROOMSTER 1.9 SCOUT NEARSIDE REAR PASSENGER LOCK FAIL
Lock took about a week to come from Czechoslovakia and 20 min to fit. Cost with postage was about £100 ,but considering over 10 years of ownership except for a cam belt change this was the most Id ever spent on the car it wasn,t to bad. I had to jiggle the lock upwards to let it come out from the door.Few photos if it helps.

EASYLIFE MOTOR CLUB JOIN UP SCAM?
Yes I wrote a letter stating the facts in no uncertain terms, and it looks as if the money has been refunded into my account. As for Easylife ,once I have a bad experience with a firm I never go near them again. Thanks Bob

2007 ROOMSTER 1.9 SCOUT NEARSIDE REAR PASSENGER LOCK FAIL
Forgot to mention window winder removal. You grip the circular base in your fingers and push it sideways and it all comes away. Lot easier to remove than winders of old. Cheers BOB

2007 ROOMSTER 1.9 SCOUT NEARSIDE REAR PASSENGER LOCK FAIL
No the locks are not compatible in that way. A good job I took a photo when it was out with the number 5J7839015A (pre facelift models) as this is the part I want. A lot of after low cost market items might quote that number but there not the same ie with cable mushroom nipple. All the scrap yard items for sale look rough. Might go for a new one from Skoda Parts in Czechoslovakia for £82 as in 10 years of ownership nothing has gone wrong except 2 seat buckles. Anyone else with this problem I would advise you to take the lock out and read number on the label before ordering. To get at the lock ,price grab handle surround off with a screw driver, undo 2 big torx head screws. Undo small torx screw at base of door card. Prise door card off ,and lift watching out for door catch release cable and speaker wire connecter if you have one. Thanks Bob

Yes thank for moving to correct forum. I try and be careful by having a different account holding a small amount of money for online purchases. Good point about the mobile app. Thanks Bob

EASYLIFE MOTOR CLUB JOIN UP SCAM?
Bought some PPE masks etc from a firm called Easylife more than a month ago, haven't seen the items yet. But after placing the order someone rang up from them talking about a car maintenance scheme .I said I wasn't interested as I do all my own maintenance and repairs where ever possible. He said there was a £10 fuel voucher weather I joined or not ,and would send me the details anyway. He ended with the words "do you understand what I'm telling you". On saying this alarm bells sounded in my head. Some years ago in dealing with an online white goods supplier we had bought a washing machine from had used the same words trying to sell me a lifetime warranty I didn't need. I got my money back that time. At this point I became insistent and was adamant that I wanted nothing to do with this scheme what so ever and send me nothing. I noticed odd amounts going out of my bank account ,ie £1.99 and £59.99 and though this might be regarding the PPE and it might be finally on its way. The other day I had a letter saying I was a member charged £1.99 in the first trial period and £59.99 for a year if I didn't cancel within 14 days. The letter arriving after the cut of date! So the fight is on to try and get my money back, but I'm not holding my breath. To late I looked at google and trust pilot and there is a lot of complaints about this firm. Of course the guy on the phone is probably on commission to sign up as many people by hook or crook ,but it seems wrong they can take money from your account without a signed agreement. I post this in the hope other forum members wont be caught out. And as for Easylife I will make sure we never go near them again!

2007 ROOMSTER 1.9 SCOUT NEARSIDE REAR PASSENGER LOCK FAIL
Yes Im finally getting my head round things.I thought I had ordered the right lock according to e -bay.But my lock has a door release fixing with a round nipple ,which the cable head snaps over.As the label says on my old lock 5J839015A and thats what i should order.Annoyingly all the Roomster locks which don,t suit are around £30 or under, are easily available( the market seems awash with them},whereas my lock is harder to source and more expensive , or so it seems. With hindsight should have taken the old lock to read label and ordered accordingly. Checked cables under rubber shroud and they seem sound as fault is intermittent ie sometimes door will unlock ,sometimes not, despite dousing all exterior parts in wd40. This guide was helpfull posted by another member and so thanks. https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/roomster/ro/2007-481/
