Travel assist or adaptive cruise control
So the standard normal lane assist then which isn't new is called adaptive? My last 4 cars VW's and Skodas have had lane assist and all will drive for me i.e. centre the car in the lane and go round corners. I would guess a new adaptive lane assist chooses the correct lane for you in multi road layouts like motorways that have two options possibly. That combined with the new smart ACC that knows the road and corner speeds like legfitter suggested?

Kodiaq VRS or Sportline ?
If it helps my Golf R on 19s in all its DCC modes was still firmer comparatively to the VRS Kodiaq with the 20inch wheels and their taller sidewalls. The Kodiaqs sport mode does let you feel big bumps more but pretty much kills body roll unless you go stupid speeds round 90 degree corners. I don't think the 19s on the Sportline would be any better/worse as a consideration either. So if you lasted and persevered with the Octavia on 19s, these two aren't going to be any worse. A big nasty pot hole is going to kill most 18,19,20s if has a decent back edge so really luck of the draw. I live in a semi rural area in NZ too a bit like you perhaps, and use mine daily on standard chip, dirt roads and in winter going up and down ski fields on dirt and snow with the Pirelli Scorpions and they have worked just fine so far. I think the difference is in the power delivery and open road driving between Sportline and VRs so take a test drive maybe. If cost is no difference, I reckon I know which one you will go for ;-)

Yep, fair enough. Its not like that over here for Skoda. Only 3000 pounds difference between Sportline and VRS, and a fully loaded VRS is about 36000 pounds so.... Same deal for us with VW pricing though. My 7.5 Golf R was 39000 pounds equivalent and now the new series 8 is looking to cost that over there and everyone is going nuts about the price. So when it gets here if consistent pricing with the old, a Golf R could be RS3 money!

Kodiaq VRS or Sportline ?
That's the whole point of having DCC. Can use comfort for dirt roads and rough urban ones, or long motorways, and the others for quicker normal stuff. The extra grunt over the other diesel for passing cars and going up hills, and as Zac said, progressive steering are worth it for me. I guess comparatively, economy as well, the diesel gets 430 miles out of a tank which the max HP petrol probably doesn't.

Agree. But they don't let science get in the way of a good story to look like they care overseas. Farms, Gas industry etc. Might be another way Zac vs fuel, large SUVs or UTEs might be seen as unfriendly instead then.

I need ground clearance where I go so Formentor I would think is better. If they had an Octavia Scout with the Superb Scout's 200kw motor I'd have a look at that too except then it would destroy the VRS Octavia so that isn't happening. Superb is too long to fit in my garage. I like the VRS Kodiaq's Diesel motor now, but anything less than the 200kw petrol motors is going backwards in performance in the Kodiaq. The 310hp EA888 was great in my Golf so should be similar in the Formentor. Got a couple of years yet in the Kodiaq unless our crazy government makes diesels inconvenient, so see what happens, Skoda may surprise us.

If that's true on VRS Kodiaq I will be changing to a Cupra Formentor and back to the Golf R motor then thanks. Is cheaper than the current Kodiaq VRS in NZ by $4k too and all you lose is a bit of room by the looks of the specs. I seriously doubt the Enyaq VRS will be affordable or good value for what it is over here.

Is it possible to activate cruise control instead of speed limiter?
ACC does brake to hold the speed at set levels, but you either brake once or just push the stalk slightly forward to disengage it without cancelling the speed set to coast down a hill, and then pull it forward again at the bottom of the hill to resume. It's not a chore, I do this all the time for roundabouts and moving up on slow cars to pass them when I don't want to change the ACC set distance etc. and have it braking all the time trying to match their speed. You can also lightly touch the accelerator too which disengages the brakes in the downhill situation when the ACC is set also of course, just like you can to cancel the autohold coming on.

Yes agree, but the DCC in Sport makes a surprising amount of difference in how it controls the weight shift when changing from side to side. Not enough to fudge the moose test but enough to have a decent stab at corners and make the 20 inch tyres steer fairly directly, especially with some power on. You have to be going reasonably silly speeds at a corner to get understeer.

The Ps4s on the Golf were quieter than the Contis were. I think its tread pattern as PS4 steered firmer but had a more compliant ride. I doubt PS4s are run flat as tyres are made specifically for that. The Pirellis on the VRS are fairly quiet but SUVs seem better than cars anyway, you can't hear the motor most of the time or notice road noise so it is a quiet car regardless. Maybe go try a demo VRS with Pirellis on it may be your best bet if not sure.

Agree, I have a 10 minute commute each way to work and stopping to turn into where we live its warmed up enough to see if its doing a regen which it does once a week on average. Sometimes I just keep going for another 5 kms as it's twisty and a bit of fun and then turn around and its done by the time I get home. Otherwise just leave it and its sorts itself out later on, i.e. longer drive up the hill in the weekend etc.

My Scorpions on 15000kms at the moment and haven't worn off any of the lines (Sipes) at all at either end of the car. I.e. I could rotate but there is no difference between them currently in wear so will wait till 20kms. In sport DCC mode on twisty fast roads they grip well and don't seem to roll in the sidewall at all so impressed, I run them at 40PSI. I'd probably go these again as designed for multi-traction surfaces on SUVs' vs a summer performance tyre option, based on where I live. Had the Conti 5s on my Golf R and they lasted to around 40kms but lost one due to multiple punctures so replaced with PS4s. The Michelins were quieter and slightly more direct steering on that car.

Auto lights issue ?
Virtual cockpit tells you to turn on the dipped beam if it is dark enough and 'auto' lights not selected. Then once that message times out or you accept it, it leaves a bulb symbol showing at the bottom of the dash.

You should see two favourites on the home screen with the map still displayed etc that can just be touched and it dials them. Or just push the telephone symbol on that portion, it opens up the whole telephone screen and you can have 12 favourites on there alone that are one touch dials. Presume you can run the phone option as featured on the virtual dash too if selected and list of contacts to scroll and select with the steering wheel controls if you want to use that instead of infotainment. Otherwise try Andriod auto or Apple as those voice dial too......

It probably wont be any cost saving over here in NZ as I would guess conservatively that the VRS EV will be easily be a minimum of $10k more than a Vrs Kodiaq is now. With a plan covering services at $400 a year and $2000 for the diesel to do an average say 20,000kms in mileage yearly, that's 4 years of ownership just in the up front cost without factoring the actual electricity cost and the inconvenience of charging and the limited range to overcome. EVs are going to pay road user tax here soon also which is fair enough too.

Yes will be interesting to see how it goes with the 60hp extra and torque vs the extra weight. Presume with it's top speed not hitting 200kph it is restricted for some reason.

I agree. The RS Enyaq will definitely cost more than the Kodiaq Rs does, at least over here in NZ where Kodiaq is realistically priced. Reservations on that as a Kodiaq replacement are still the range and how long to charge on normal power supplies. Is really only going to do around 400kms as in EVs you never drive to the full range before charging, vs 600kms+ currently, and the ground clearance looks more car like than SUV. So more of a city car than a regional one that the Kodiaq fits so well. As far as performance for the 80 and RS, will be interesting to see what the 80 to 140kph passing situation time is as the Enyaq has less torque than the VRS Kodiaq does and I'd guess quite a bit more weight. That's one of the advantages between the Kodiaq models (the progressive steering is another) , the VRs motor is great for passing and going up hills easy. Still, based on more guesswork, on how the Enyaq's 0-100kph is only slightly better with 60 more HP and probably the AWD electric motors hooking up from 0 kph vs DSG helping there too. I'd rather have a petrol RS Kodiaq replacement if I had to personally as the electric option just isn't practical for what I do and where I live.

If this ultimately becomes the Kodiaq and is all that we can get, the ground clearance looks less so no good in AWD guise for ski fields, dirt, steep stuff etc? This looks to be less an SUV and more a pretty looking people mover to me. The 99mph top speed seems slightly non-impressive for the VRS model too?

How tinted are the windows?
This is mine which is the standard rear in sunset glass. Had the front windows done to match as well as looks half done otherwise in my opinion. Helps security wise as you can't see what is inside from outside but you can hardly tell from the inside as they are not that dark. Very similar to my previous cars which all had this as standard too, Golf, Passat and VRs Octavia.

DTUK Pedal Box + install and review
I found sport was a bit too energetic for me so found City +2 about right. The gearbox hesitation from a standstill which I didn't notice on my last 2 VAG cars, it sorts out. I'm still not sure whether it changes the ACC throttle response as well yet?

2017 Kodiaq - poor interior trim quality
The bits you specifically mention with problems are the same parts on most of the Skoda models let alone VW's and possibly Audis too. I don't think it matter how old they are as all these vehicles have always been built conjunctively with their VW and Seat and Audi common platforms. The sunglasses holder and window control panel are the same items on my 2019 Skoda and my 2019 Golf. I'd suggest if you had a Tiguen the same age and treated condition, it possibly could have similar problems. So really it's not a Kodiaq or even Skoda quality issue, its the bigger VAG picture you really are criticizing here.

The front and back door pockets drink spaces could fit a wine size bottle in the golf, Kodiaq can't so are smaller.
