  1. Thanks.. I'll keep searching, maybe a trip to a breakers, although getting one off is an epic in itself. Had to destroy the bearing and use an angle grinder and chisel to remove the bearing inner off the stub axle.
  2. I contact B&M and they gave me the specific part no. for a Mk1 Fabia 1.4 16v auto, which is BM91321H.
  3. Thanks for the info. The exhaust front section worked a treat and was a simple job to fit. It's running really well and smoothly now.. Cheers.. 👍😁
  4. Hi.. Does anyone know of a supplier of the above drum backplates? Can't find any online, even good used ones would be ok, especially a n/s plate as mine is rusted out.
  5. Hi.. I need to replace my main cat as its blocked and leaking. I thought it would be a simple matter of cutting out the old one and fitting an equivalent Euro4 replacement. Problem I'm having, is that I cant find a suitable unit as the pipe is 1.75" diameter and none appear to be Euro4 anyway. So, It would seem I have to replace the front pipe section from the exhaust manifold. On my car, there is a big pre-cat can with an O2 sensor port atop it, but the replacement sections on line don't appear to have a pre-cat, nor a sensor port. Can anyone please advise me on the best way to resolve this. Cheers..
  6. Hi.. Can anyone explain the components on my brake servo pipe please? The end with the spigot goes to the servo, and the other end to the throttle body, ..but what is the other end for, next the green sticker on the table. There is a fair amount of vacuum on this pipe when I put my thumb over it and it attaches loosely to the left side of the airbox lid. Surely this would create a vacuum leak as I am having MAP issues and the motor (2006 1.4 16v) won't rev..
  7. Thanks.. My 2006 Fabia 1.4 16v, starts easily, idles smoothly and revs fine but under load goes into limp with a max 10mph. No pinking sounds.. No codes showing on a VAGCOM, but I have reset the ECU, replaced and affirmed the TB, new plugs, fuel filter, air filter, oil and filter, new ATF, new coilpacks, checked on all the pipework as well as various sensors. Compression is good too. Next is the crank and cam sensors, the separator, the fuel injection relay, and maybe the fuel pump. If it's not running again after that, I don't know what I'll do, as its only got 90k miles on it, no rust and in great condition throughout. Its been a delightful car to drive these past 6 years and I really want it sorted, but so far, despite scanning and much head scratching, it's still just limping along. Just wish I could see a code! 🙁
  8. Hi.. What's the oil separator for? What does it do and could it cause my Fabia to lose power under load even though it starts easily? No codes showing, even with a VAGCOM.
  9. Thanks.. You certainly given me something to consider and try. Right now I'm dealing with a few rust issues on the Fabia. Once I'm done, I'll try out your advice and I'll post. Regards, Steve..
  10. I have tried running without an air filter, but no difference and I had a mobile service guy out with a VCDS laptop, but it didn't show any codes either. My own OBD scanner shows smooth action of the throttle body when you press the throttle. Really struggling with this problem which suddenly just happened on a dual carriageway. I'm 71 and been tinkering on cars since I was about 10, (my daily since 2004 has been an '87 Corvette that is really simple to maintain) but this Fabia's engine has me stumped, but as cheap as it is, I just can't give up on it, ..its been a great car up til now. One thing I noticed is that it's slightly better running from cold, with a max speed of about 30mph, which drops to 10mph when hot. Always it starts easily and idles smoothly, but once under load it just dies.
  11. Thanks. The Fabia is barely only worth about £400, so I'll need to rethink this one.. 🤔
  12. I do get the EPC lamp and the engine block icon, but they go off when the engine starts.
  13. L98 started following VCDS (VAGCOM)
  14. Hi.. I think I may need a VCDS scanner to redo the throttle body on my 2006 Fabia 1.4 16v, after removing it to test it on the bench. What is recommended here for a reasonable cost unit? Is it downloadable to my phone?
  15. Thanks, some stuff to try. I'll measure the fuel pressure and try the exhaust advice. The exhaust was redone last year as it was leaking at the flex joint, but they re-used the original cat which I assumed would be ok with 80k miles on it. I'll check with YouTube about the VCDS throttle body thing (sounds very expensive!), but removing and refitting it had no effect on the limp mode. When I removed it, I put 12v on the DC motor and it worked well, opening and shutting the valve, still working as I reduced the voltage down to 5v..
  16. Cheers.. This engine has no EGR or MAF. I wish I could see a EML! ESC goes off when it starts.
