VCDS (VAGCOM)

Featured Replies

Hi..

I think I may need a VCDS scanner to redo the throttle body on my 2006 Fabia 1.4 16v, after removing it to test it on the bench.

What is recommended here for a reasonable cost unit? Is it downloadable to my phone?

If you fancy VCDS, the main UK supplier is on this page. https://www.gendan.co.uk/vcds_chooser.php

The USB versions to use with a Windows laptop are a lot cheaper (£200-odd) than the ones for a phone/tablet (£400-odd).

You will find cheaper copy cables that work with older versions of VCDS, they're a bit of a lottery and a taboo subject on here.

To be fair, what you need doing isn't particularly specialist any more, and most half-decent diagnostic should do the job, so if it's for a one-off, it might be cheaper to pay someone else to do it.

Thanks.

The Fabia is barely only worth about £400, so I'll need to rethink this one.. 🤔

I've replaced several throttle bodies for people with used ones and they have never required re adapting, the engine takes a few minutes to return to normal idling speeds.

Taboo subject maybe. But if you have an old laptop you dont care about and you can disable all network cards on it there are wayy cheaper options. (i dont trust them enough, they even say not to be connected to the internet while using xD) you could do like me. Buy a cheap VCDS pretending to be ross-tech from Aliexpress. Not gonna give the link here, as they are violating SO MANY copyrights, trademarks and creative licenses selling these, but they do work well, really well actually ^^

I payed 178NOK for mine, or about 14GBP
