  1. As title. looking to upgrade the fronts. Car is used mainly for track days and even though the car stops with Ferodo DS2500 pads fitted, peddle pressure increases as heat rises! I wondered if anyone might have a SCR or similar upgrade kicking around that they were going to use and now is gathering dust....Just a thought.
  2. Out of interest, my clutch started slipping at about 78K with a stage 2 remap and other mods. It was the original clutch. After looking at the usual suspects I thought I'd try a MK4 golf diesel clutch as the clamping power was higher. Fitted this to a lightened fly I obtained and have done 3 flat out track days since. Absolutely no slippage and feels good. Cost less than £200 from a reputable motor factor, OE quality.
  3. Just to close on this. The problem was the plastic connector on the end of the pipe that fits in to the clutch slave. As stated previously, it should be fixed and not swivel. By swivelling it allows fluid to seep through the internal joint on the plastic fitting. New pipe fitted and all well! £68 + VAT from TPS!!!!!!!!!! Whatever happened to the simple threaded nipple and splayed pipe end of old? I could have made one up in my garage for about £4.00. I think I answered that myself.......
  4. Typical! I bought a 25mm one new about 4 weeks ago!
  5. We have all been there! I will order a new one from TPS on Monday. I checked today just before they closed and they haven’t one in stock, it has to be ordered in.
  6. Ah! Mine rotates!!!!! Decided to order a new pipe on Monday. Lucky I don’t need the car. happy frustrating days!
  7. In the first photograph the union that pushes into the slave cylinder is one piece and the whole thing swivels on the pipe. It must be weeping from the joint inside the fitting which can’t be accessed by the look of it.
  8. While changing the gearbox and clutch I thought that I should change the slave as it is an 04 car and it was most probably the original. I sourced an OE slave and fitted it. One drip every 15-20 seconds from the connection. I put the old slave on, exactly the same! I ordered in a new O ring from my supplier and received a bag with an O ring and a little top hat rubber seal, hmm. Fitted the O ring, there wasn't any space to fit the rubber top hat... Still leaking. Looked through my box of metric O rings, picked the closest and of course that still dripped. Looking on YouTube, some connections employ the little rubber top hat that slipped over the end of the pipe connector but mine is different and hasn't the space. I am at my wits end! Any help greatly received.
  9. Just fitting a box fitted with a Wavetrac LSD. It came with a G60 solid flywheel and an R32 clutch. I was going to fit the clutch assembly complete as it has done approx 7K miles allegedly but thought I might as well fit a new R32 clutch for peace of mind. Has anyone the correct part numbers or know from what exact model it comes from? Reason for fitting this. Car is running stage 2, etc, etc and has just eaten the standard clutch..... Cheers.
  10. I quite agree. If sixth gear is only an overdrive then it is a pointless mod. my theory is that with the stage 2 remap, the engine is so torquey it isn’t necessary to keep it buzzing at high revs with a closer ratio gearbox and in fact quite probably the five speed box is better
  11. No idea and I’m not likely to know! Not looking for economy.
  12. They obviously are all prone to mooing but didn’t do this when they were new. I can only assume that if you fitted brand new calipers where the pistons might retract very fractionally more than a caliper that is some years old then the problem will not manifest itself. If I’m wrong, who knows what the problem is! New rear calipers anyone?
  13. As the title. looking for a quick fix for my TD car, MK1 vRS. Chances are slim but someone may have something that they were going to fit but circumstances changed. Living in hope...........
  14. I've fitted new pads, discs, wheel bearings, overhauled callipers, new fluid and fitted the extra release springs, all at the same time so a clean bill of health..................still mooing!
  15. I tend to agree with you. Ideal situation I believe is the five-speed box with a new high capacity clutch and a limited slip differential.
  16. Darkside have replied. More than I thought....... https://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/darkside-g60-billet-flywheel-with-sachs-sre-performance-clutch-kit-5-speed-02j-02a-02r.html They give a choice of 7kg or 10kg flywheels. What is best and for what purpose? I had a very light fly on my old 5.5 TVR which spun up very quickly but that had a huge crank that added to the mass. If I were to go to a 6 speed box conversion, prices go up...... https://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/darkside-billet-single-mass-flywheel-smf-clutch-kit-for-vw-02m-6-speed.html Also a choice of friction plates. I was never impressed with the paddle clutch I had in the TVR. I changed it after less than 1,000 miles as it was juddery and a bit off/on. Decisions, decisions........
  17. Just read on Darkside Developments site that they programme out the throttle cut if requested for LFB. Result!
  18. Thanks for that. Just had a read of a breakfast. I shall make a few phone calls on Tuesday, see what is available and check out the prices. Not sure what hp I am running at the moment. My local Rolling Road seems to be shut at the moment so will check it out when he is open. It certainly seems powerful compared to a standard car. Was hitting an indicated 110 at the end of the main straight at brands which by comparison to about 115+ with my old 400 hp TVR compares very favourably.
  19. Just saw these replies! The simple answer is yes, I do have cruise fitted. At the moment, LFB is a bit academic as I am suffering hugely from inner wheel spinning up when exiting any corner on track. Did a shakedown of the car at a Brands evening TD on Wednesday and the inner wheelspin is epic! Will adjust ARBs but think an LSD is the long term answer.... I digress.
  20. Stretched my modded vRS, (stage 2 or thereabouts) at Brands on Wednesday. All was well and my worry of the standard clutch @ 77K (quite probably original) was unfounded. Out today and when just warm, clutch seemed to slip and gain about 5-700 revs when accelerating in 4th. Hmm. Repeated when all was properly hot and all was well. I believe that the additional torque, (which seems quite a lot) is going to overcome the clutch. Another TD at Coombe later this month so need to sort this. Apparently the way to go is a G60 solid fly and some sort of competition clutch. Any recommendations? Anyone have a fly sitting unused in their shed..... I look forward to advise..........
