  1. I have a slight worry with my clutch. Bought the car about six weeks ago and since changed belt, pump, remap to 182 bhp and noticed today a high reving sound like a clutch slip - yet according to receipts the clutch was actually replaced at about 24k miles which is only 40k miles ago.
  2. Nice read guys. I have just made the switch from an old skool 306 Rallye to Mark 1 Black 06 Fabia VRS now tuned to 182 bhp and slightly worried about clutch.Even though the thing appears to have been replaced at about 24k prior to remap it still slipped twice today (or at least I think it slipped). Would be very intereting to test drive the Mark 2 though. Nearly went for one using a loan but using diesel is cheap - hence the Mark 1.
  3. Too right. Mine even spins its wheels there is so much force being ploughed into the front wheels.
  4. Too right. Mine even spins its wheels there is so much force being ploughed into the front wheels.
  5. Go won't tell me the company he uses (trade secret he claims) but is going to get a graph read out to prove it. It really shifts now.
  6. Mine was mapped yesterday to 182 bhp and the only problem is spinning wheels if you fail to get the power done appropriately. Mine will cost though - sure its more than £300.00.
  7. I had the belt changed, water pump too, plus air filter & oil change in Leicester garage for £420.00.
  8. Same here I have just had a stage 1 remap with 182 bhp and 326 lb ft plus it can pooch about at 1500 revs doing 75 mpg as well!
  9. It seems like a bloody rocket. My Rallye won an Autocar shoot out with its new owner but this 182 bhp is bloody powerful and it would be near thing. Still loved that particular car though. It's stage 1 remap with 182 bhp and 326 lb ft
  10. I can't believe it! Lovely drive and to think I used to rave about my 306 Rallye. Even spins its wheels. Got to get the power down. LOL
  11. Well I have just remapped my Black December 06 VRS to 182 bhp and I know which car I would rather have. I drives like stink. It's an animal!
  12. I had to find a garage for cam belt and water pump (not the plastic one) replacements but also wanted a decent service including air filter as well as oil change. I was charged £420.00 for this lot including VAT from C&G Cars in Leicester. I think that was OK. I rang four places. The Skoda dealer (Startin Skoda @ Worcester) would have cost about £100.00 extra for this little lot and the other two failed to call back. The above garage used to do a lot of hard labour on my 306s and has changed a huge number of belts and fixed dozens of head failure cars. Just thought I would mention them. I must find cheap efficent and willing garage near me though.
  13. To cut down on diesel we tend to drive in a high gear with low revs keeping just off boost for pooching around but overtaking between 2k and 3k reves on burning the rubber on a few occasions. We tend to get between 50 mpg and 60 mpg on are vrs. The best, so far, being 61. Very little motorways more A & B roads between towns and driving in towns. Thrashing the motor will get you under 50 mpg. I suppose boy racer stuff all the time would get it down to about 47 or whatever. I have driven 306s gtis and Rallyes for past seven years so I now all about thrashing the motor for fun so take it from me our fuel consumption has more than halved!
  14. Well we had a Chinese stir fry (beef, green pepper, and broccoli, mushroom in black bean sauce with rice etc) with, of all things, Pinot Grigio and by all the Gods it was a match for the Chinese. Later, water and fresh Pomegranate juice.
  15. Guys for the tricky run on ice and snow just fit 'snow socks, use Google - perfect easy to get on like screwing on a bottle cap though trickier to get off. Could easily follow a defender in the very worst of our last winter weather here in Kington.
  16. I really do like a cute twin exhaust - not some big mother of a set up. Is it the same design as Kermit82's exhaust? Now that's a really nice example of the latest Fabia VRS - not that I haven't come to like our black one in such a quick time.
  17. Interesting, we have this and the only issue other that we have is to do the cam belt and pump because i forgot to get this concession from the dealer.
  18. Tell a lie, the exhaust is standard and its fine. So a standard set up it is and very nice too. Must admit though I do like, for some bizziare reason, the neat twin exhaust on the new Mark 2 shiny Green VRS Ral lye.
  19. Cheers guys. I now know my exhaust is not standard. Actually I quite like the exhaust on mine and will get a pic up here soon.
  20. As I have just bought a four year old Black Fabia VSR in Mint condition I would like to know what a standard exhaust system looks like and the alloys too please. Spent many recent years with Peugeots mainly 306s gtis/Rallyes and know how they look in standard form inside out so would like a benchmark for the VRS please? Googled pictures and they appear with all sorts.
  21. A real mix bag here. Nothing really special or massively expensive and in no major order really, used by myself and wife. Renaults: 4 (banana yellow and our first vehicle and then a second one in blue), 6 (blue old and barge like) and 5 (navy blue very basic and written off by wife in tussle with a tree and one of our family out cold for a short while but has since has become an architect) and silver 21 Savanna 2LRT – the best seven seater we had. Fiat: Uno first NEW car we bought and not too bad. Rover: Montegos estates: 1.6 green (engine failure on the way to a wedding) followed by a new 2L gti in BRG – the latter seven seater was not bad and could just about live with the massive number of Citreon BXs that were around at that time. Marina red 1.8L awful second hand car written off after some jerk shunted into the side of it in the middle of Sevenoaks High Street and luckily this was seen by the town Mayor and a trifling amount was paid out to wife. Ford: Escort red XR3i for 18 months endless trips to garage not good example. Toyota: Previa – fairly bullet proof against young kids and their mates. Hassle free for five years though massive automatic gearbox 2.4L barge to drive. Peugeots: 205 TD silver and very nice when new back in the early 1990s and eventually scrapped. 307 TD silver Rapier model (bit boring). 306 Gti’s (x 3 in diablo red, white with sun roof and astor grey and also a Rallye cherry red. Cabriolet china blue. All very nice. Fabia black VRS
  22. Just buy some snow socks. We live 800 feet up (English Welsh border) and these were a boon last winter. Slip on and they tighten with first movement but tougher to get off but great.
  23. Suppose only way to found out if car is tuned is RR or can a diagnostics check do it? I bought a Fabia Vrs and the car seems to have a huge amount of power. It actually seems to be able to get to very high speeds about the same time as my old 306 Rallye, which won an Autocar shoot out March 31, 2010. Surely it must be tuned already - the receipts it came with only show a clutch change but no tuning receipts. Car is four years old with 65k on the clock. Next stop is cam belt and pump change, which has not been done yet. Only got car last week.
  24. Hi people, just collected my 4 year old Fabia VRS today and it was just as good as all those claims made by all its fans which have posted on various websites. I have read a lot of them before committing to buying one. Since 2003 we have been very fond of Peugeot 306 gti6s/Rallyes/Cabriolets and have had all of them and the last to go was the Cab, part exchanged for the Black example I bought today in Whitchurch in Shropshire and drove back to Kington, Herefordshire in a very spirited way. Car put a huge grin on my face and I really like it though it’s TOTALLY different from say a 306 Rallye, which I also loved to bits. The Rallye and GTis for that matter are all about getting to 3k revs when the action starts and the Fab all about 2-3k or thereabouts – but what a blast of fairly silent power. Brakes are good too and could not believe the handling because we go on and on about the handling of the Peugeot hot hatches on the GTi6/Rallye forum. We bought this car to save on fuel so managed about 48 mpg on the drive back. So you can see I was testing it. It was amazing that there were two people very keen on the China Blue Cab as soon as I drove in. I left with these two people looking over it. Is that bizarre or not? The garage got a bargain for that car (even bought snow socks for the 15 inch wheels). Less what I sold the Cab for, I paid £4 k with 65,000 miles on the clock for the Fabia. Would be good not know what bits about the Fabia need fairly close attention as the ageing Peugeots needed a lot of attention.
