  1. General Data Protect Regulations (GDPR) They are not allowed to pass ANY of your personal information, including email and phone details, to any third party, not directly connected to the transaction, without your express permission. if they do they can be fined a very large sum of money - usually based on turnover
  2. Bonus with a Halfords battery is the 5 year warranty- better than the OEM one!
  3. On my 12 day old 2.0 TDi 4x4 sport DSG, when I lift off the accelerator when going say down a slope or just slowing down, the indicator changes from D6 or D7 (or whatever gear I’m in) to just D - and it feels like it’s coasting in neutral. - Not tried the eco mode yet.
  4. Finally re- joined the fold again! Had a Yeti 170 hp diesel about 10 years ago, loved the car did 70k miles in 3 years, only sold it because I was offered silly, silly money in part ex. ive just come out of a 9 month ‘ dalliance’ with a Discovery Sport - which surprisingly proved very reliable- but thirsty. After only a 6 month wait took delivery of a new Kodiaq 200hp TDI 4x4 Sport.lots of extras, sun roof, electric towbar, full leather electric seats, traffic sign recognition etc etc. still trying to puzzle out how things work, the virtual cockpit is fun, as is the ‘infotainment’ system. But the big bonus is fuel consumption, first day out, mixture of country lane, urban and fast A roads, 90 miles averaged 42 mpg - in the Disco I would have been lucky to get 30 ! The other bonus is that Mrs M will drive it, she refused flatly to drive the Disco.
  5. Talk to your insurance company, they will understand. As long as the third party has admitted full liability (to their insurance ) their ‘side’ will settle your excess. If this done you should retain your NCB and not be penalised. Because they are a very large group trading under different names they will get this problem a lot, and know how to sort it. BUT get it confirmed in writing when it’s all settled!
  6. Looking at the dates, I take it that it’s a DeLorian!
  7. Churchill and Direct Line are both part of the same(Direct Line) group, all their policies are underwritten by UK Insurance Ltd (same group)
  8. The important thing is to get your excess back from the third party. Either directly from them (you may have to claim in the county court) or better still from their insurance company. However you must inform your insurance company, even if the TP’s company is picking up the bill. Once you have got your excess paid by the TP then advise your company. Then, and only then will they record it as a no fault accident/claim
  9. I have had 2 replaced by them, both times very quickly and efficiently. Turned up with the correct screen each time, fascinating to watch the old screen being cut out with a piano wire, and then the new one gently fitted into place with the aid of a suction arm that stuck onto the side window and acted as a 'mate' for the fitter. First time one of the 'Piano Black' trims cracked as he was taking it off, he stopped phoned and ordered a new one and then carried on. Both sides actually arrived the next day, followed by the fitter to fit them - all in the price - anybody need an off-side front window trim ??
  10. The 'A' frames that operate by switching on a vacum pump to then operate the brakes (on the towed car) are legal (these are triggered by the brake lights) the ones that rely on an overrun brake operating a cable attached to the brake pedal are not legal - the braking efficiency is not good enough - and the law is getting tighter.- all types are banned in some European countries. There are some imported American 5th Wheeler caravans that have electric brakes, and these all have to be converted to comply with the UK regulations, usually with the addition of a manual handbrake (for when the unit is detached)
  11. Many, many years ago, I was an AA patrolman - BSA M21, sidecar, salutes etc - and I used to moonlight for a local garage in West London. One night on my way to a breakdown (in their minivan) I had forgotten to switch off the revolving beacon, and got stopped and received an endorsement /fine for "showing a light whilst revolving whilst in motion" Mind you he also nicked me for speeding too! - pulled me up right in the gates of Hampton Court Palace.
  12. I did the drawer on the driver's side this w/e (at long last) - I've already got the passenger side. Thanks to Sanqhar for the photographs, they were a great help once I had worked out which bit was which, and then visualised them 'swapped' left to right !! The suggestion of removing the seat fastenings (33q's) made a fantastic difference, I could actually see what I was doing (almost) though I have the same LED light as Sanqhar!! I was able to do it without removing the seat side cover, just removing the screw at the front, this then meant that I could disconnect the bracket to bolt the side clip to. I agree that you don't need to fasten both the top screws, just the one on the outside of the frame, and the side bracket. Part numbers for the 'kit' are: 5N08826009B9 - Frame (£13.16) 5N08826029B9 - Drawer (£14.33) N90646201 - Bolts X 2 (£0.50) All plus VAT You will also need a 'Captive U nut' as per Sanqhar's photo above - my dealer found one in the 'gash box' - one point the two slots where they fit under the seat base are different sizes, so I was only able to get one in, but as I said that's all you need' The drawer comes fitted with the rubber buffers, and the guide pieces (my dealer ordered extra ones which I didn't need, and won't take them back - but it's only about £2.00 anyhow) Looks 'finished' now P.S. Roscoe - I kept the draws from my Touran, hoping one day they would be useful (I paid extra for them so I reckon they were mine) regretfully they won't fit the Yeti - so if you know anybody who want's a set....
  13. Try these people http://www.towbar-uk.co.uk/default.htm (MDS Towbars) they will come to you and fit it. - They are in Rochdale, but cover North Wales About 18 months ago they fitted a Westphalia fixed tow bar to my Yeti complete with all electrics including caravan wiring PROPERLY done including vehicle coding for £355 inc vat. They are still charging about the same price today (perhaps slightly higher) the only extra would be the difference in price between fixed and detachable. A few people on here have used them
  14. I haven't got this black thing (though there is a hole where it could go) I've just got the tweezers and the hook etc BUT..... Do you think it could be a tool for removing/fitting the DLR bulbs - which are a pig to fit - it looks the right shape ????
  15. My Daughter's Seat Ibiza 3 cylinder Eco has it - and that's almost their basic spec !!
  16. I can confirm that the 'Aldi' kit includes T5,T6,T7,T8,T9,T10 & T15 as well as 21 other bits - It's called a '36 piece Mechanical Tool set' The one in the car kit is a right angled piece of metal with what looks like a T15 on one end and a flat blade on the other.this is in addition to the plastic tweezers, lopped hook thing, jack, wheel brace, wheel nut key and towing eye
  17. Saw (in fact I bought) a nice little set in Aldi earlier this week - had lots of minature torx and other bits, together with a magnifying glass, I think it is mainly designed for mending specs, but useful all the same.
  18. Isn't there a small torx 'thing' in the toolkit, it's popped into the polystyrene alongside the hook for removing the wheel nut covers and the locking wheel nut key ?
  19. Got some Tesco/Eurotunnel vouchers that have to be used by the end of the year - just enough for a return crossing with The Yeti. (without the caravan) Don't want to wade through several thousand hotel web-sites, so can anybody recomend a decent hotel with GOOD FOOD within about a 250 mile radius of Calais? France/Belgium/Luxumberg/GermanyHolland.... We aim to go last w/e in October (school 1/2 term week), for 5 or 6 days, don't want to do Paris - done it loads of times, prefer a nice country hotel that's not too expensive. Any suggestions? Thanks Richard
  20. I don't want to wade through several thousand hotel websites, what I was after was other people's experiences/suggestions/recomendations - then I'll look on Trip Advisor - which I always take with a LARGE pinch of salt!! Good suggestion - thank you..
  21. My last 3 company cars have all gone over the 3 years whilst waiting for their replacement. As we have to have them main dealer serviced I always tell the garage "You've looked after it for the last three years so you should know what (if anything) is wrong with it" - they have all passed first time !! I aim to purchase the Yeti at the end of the lease (and finally retire) so I will make sure it is MOT'd before I do...

  23. NOT ACTUALLY SPOTTED !! Had to go and visit a client in Leominster on Thursday, so on the way back I took the more interesting route - Ludlow, Much Wenlock, Telford, Whitchurch etc. (Far better than the A49!!) As the route takes you accross Ludlow Racecourse I thought I'd make a slight diversion and go and introduce myself to Llanigraham in his 'box'....... But he wasn't there !!! - (at least no Yeti outside - 16.30 hrs approx) - Sorry Graham, I'll try again next time I am passing..... Richard
  24. RickT would had his done by MDS towbars from Rochdale in Lancashire, however if Bettysman looks at this link http://www.rightconnections.co.uk/distributors it shows all the towbar people who use 'Right connections' looms which do the job properly. But the nearest one to Livingston who advertises 'VEHICLE CODING AVAILABLE' is in Forfar which is a bit north of him. Suggest he rings a few and asks "do you fit the dedicated loom- wired into the fuse box, and can you do the vehicle re-coding?" or of course he could have an 'away day' to Lancashire !! (MDS are mobile btw with about 3 vans- they may do Scotland!!)
