  1. Can't believe how many helpful replies. Thank you so much. It's not easy to get test drives on petrol cars so I may have to settle on trying a 1.4 tsi in a different skoda car. I'll let you know how I get on.
  2. I am thinking of trading in my 2011 1.8 petrol tsi Yeti Elegance for a new Yeti. I see that the top petrol engine is now scaled down to 1.4 litres. Just a bit concerned that it might feel comparatively underpowered. Would welcome some thoughts. Thanks
  3. This irritation with clicking noise from rear of car when changing up gear is still persisting. First service is due in 8 weeks so will be asking the dealership to "take the car apart" and idintify the problem. I'll update with anything of interest but in the meantime just wondered if anyone else has some news on this issue. Thanks

  6. Driving a 1.8 litre petrol Yeti. 3 months old and 3.5k on clock. Getting bad smell in cabin - rotting cabbage or other similar organic like smell. First happened after 3 back-to-back practice runs using auto reverse parallel park steering feature. Noticed engine running at 103 degrees temperture - bit hotter than usual 97 degrees. Am now noticing it every now and then. Hard to pinpoint a pattern, but seems to be when engine running a bit hotter than average - say when in very slow traffic. Seems some other threads suggesting it could be clutch? I mentioned it to dealership and they suggested that it was normal for cars with cataytic converters to be smelly sometimes. I'm not sure about this? Any ideas? thanks
  7. I got my GAP insurance fropm the Skoda Dealer. Paid £399. Yes its expensive, but you'll feel pretty sick if the car gets written off, or stolen, and your Insurance only pays you, say, 70% of retail value two weaks after driving it out the dealership. Where you going to find the other 30%? I got my dealership to let me see the full insurance contract in advance so had a chance to view small print as the devil is always in the detail and policies can vary. Hopefully you won't need it, but........ Wish you lots of safe driving.
  8. My memory seat function has now just failed for the second time. Only had the car 8 weeks and very annoying. First time round the dealer re-set the computer chip -Bit like re-booting a PC and all was well for a few weeks. Now gone wrong again and going back to dealer again. Mirror settings retained, as is inclination of seat back, but distance from steering wheel not remembered either by the memory button on the seat or by the key. I see that some people are saying they had a new control unit put in so maybe dealer will do that next time for my car. Otherwise I love the car and pleased we got it!!
  9. Had the Yeti (1.8 tsi Petrol) for a week now and done around 300 miles. Would appreciate some advice on running in a new engine. The hand book says don't exceed 75% of max revs for first 1,000km. That sounds sensible enought. But between 1,000 to 1,500 km it recommends slowly taking each gear up to the max revs permissible (i.e., the red zone on the counter). I don't generally push a car to max revs (unless I need to get out of a "situation"!) so just wondering if I actually need to push to max revs in order to get the engine set up nicely for the longer term. Some advice from someone a bit more tech savvy would be much appreciated. One of the reasons I bought a new car was that I have a mistrust of how ex demo cars have been treated in their early mileage which the hand book describes as critical to longer term performance.   10. Thanks for your Reply Timmy 7. The click noise is more noticeable in lower gears - Once you pick up a bit of speed I think engine and road noise starts to obscure the noise. You might start to notice it a bit more now that its been highlighted! Sorry about that! If you start to notice it a bit more be interested to hear. cheers.
  11. I have had my Yeti (1.8 tsi Elegance) only one week but so far I think the drive is excellent. It feels very solid even with no passengers and near empty tank. Before I bought I had actually seen the odd Journal comment about "Jittery" ride and it did nearly put me off- glad I didn't listen. One well known site refers to a jittery ride but their video review makes no such comment and praises the ride. So much for consistency!Also, remember a certain TV journalst who tested the car to near destruction (the one with helicopter landing on the roof) - he made no comments on jittery ride! I guess it might be worth checking your tyre pressures perhaps?
  12. Thanks for your reply. Just taken the car back to the dealership today and got a technician to drive the car with me. He confirmed the noise appears to come from the rear of the car. He didn't know the cause but thought he had heard it on other Yetis but never really thought about it as a problem. He gave a fairly long test drive and didn't think it was anything to worry about. Also, he thought it would be really hard to track down the cause and suggested that I wait to see if the noise gets louder and then it might be easier to determine the cause. Really nice guy and came out twice in car (first drive couldn't hear problem due to noise of heavy rain on car!). However, I am not exactly happy about it - I don't really feel inclined to accept rattles and noises on a top of range model thats a week old. Not sure what to do next really.
