  1. lol... again you contradict the reviews. Yes there's a compromise, but not all compromise means unfit for purpose.
  2. Two issues, space to store, and for some paying out a few hundred quid may not be easy. It's the former for me.
  3. Yeah, having winter tyres is definitely the ideal situation. Not possible for some of us, though.
  4. All you guys are forgetting 3 months of the year when we have greasy, icy, and sometimes snow covered roads. I've had one winter in the vRS with performance tyres and it was very scary at times, and impossible at other times. Seriously thinking about Vredestein Quatrac 3's, Hankook Optimo 4S, or a set of Goodyear 4 Seasons. Haven't decided which yet, though. Anyone any experience with them?
  5. lol... would you believe it if I said I never noticed yours had black mirrors?? Now I'm convinced!!
  6. Yeah. I've been making it my own recently with a few changes, and have a few plans for it, too. The mirrors were like that when I got them. I don't mind it, but I'm waiting on some Plastidip to arrive as I've a feeling that once I do the grille matt black with it, the mirrors will suit going to matt black, too. Waiting on my badges from PB to arrive as well. Watch this space.
  7. Nothing special, but I haven't contributed to this thread yet, so here...
  8. Took the panel off, removed the two screws holding the solenoid box, carefully prised open the plastic cover of the solenoid box, rotated it a bit, sprayed in a bit of WD40, rotated a bit more, put it all back together and... TADA!! It works! Even the remote locking works again!
  9. Consider it sold, then. You don't have one of the turn clips for the mats as well, do you?
  10. If the passenger side front mat will clean up okay (looks a bit grubby in pics) I might take that from you.
  11. Okay, there's no mechanical type noise coming from the boot lock. But, turning the key in the boot lock DOES lock/unlock all the doors.
  12. Have you tried these? Everything I read about the Sessanta's is positive, including in the wet.
  13. I think it was the pollen filter grommet where the leak was (I'm hoping). From memory the boot lock makes the motorised noise like it should be opening, certainly the rest of the locks work, but it just doesn't seem to unlock. I'll maybe go out and put my ear up to it to double check this though. If it's making noise, does that mean it's the lock itself?
  14. Not that I'm aware of. I did have a damp issue not long ago, and after getting that sorted I've just completed changing the carpets and drying the whole thing out this weekend. I had a dehumidifier in the car last night and today to draw the last of the water out before I put the carpet and interior back in. The lock stopped working this evening before I put the interior back in, so perhaps the dehumidifier did something? If it's the lock, is it the orange bit just, or is there more to it than that? Easy job?
  15. Is my memory right when I think that there was a time when the boot would just open with the handle when all the locks were opened with the key fob? It's just that, for a good while now I've had to open the boot with the key, turning it anti-clockwise and holding the key in this position while pulling the handle to open the boot. It's not meant to be like that, is it? Well, this evening it's taken a dislike to me and now it won't open at all. I had to crawl into the boot from inside the car to get it opened. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be? Is it the lock itself, or the CCM thingy, or what?
  16. Just completed this, and although my fingers are now raw, the interior is far better looking. The guide in this thread is fantastic. I couldn't have done it otherwise.
  17. I'm in the middle of this right now, and there seems to be a plastic screw in the footrest that I can't get removed. Any help/advice appreciated.
  18. It's a T20, well, for the screws in the runners of the seats it is. I haven't done it yet as I just picked up the replacement this evening. As for time to clean, seriously what's the big deal that some of us would rather have a dark carpet? Maybe you step from concrete into your car? Where I live, it can be a mucky mess at times and the dirt is far too obvious on a light carpet. A dark carpet means the hard work I put in to clean the car in first place, lasts longer.
  19. If I had owned mine from the start, I think I could have kept it clean, but it has stains on it I can't shift. Furthermore, I got a leak and it got very damp, so now it smells. I figured just changing the carpet to one from a Bora would be a simple long-term solution. Anyway.... can anyone tell me the torx size needed for taking the interior apart to do this?
  20. If you can keep it looking like new, perhaps. But that's easier said than done.
  21. Excellent write up, Squidula. Can anyone confirm the torx bit size? I've never done anything like this before, but going to attempt this weekend I think.
  22. I've a few things I may be interested in: The front passenger side mat if it's in good nick and the vRS bit is embroidered. The drivers side tweeter speaker thingy that sits at the corner of the drivers window. Possibly the front passenger door card as well. If you've got cruise control and it's possible to remove it for fitting in another car, I might be interested. PM me prices posted to Northern Ireland (you can use a service like SendItNow.com as they're usually quite reasonable for awkward items).
