  1. Thanks to Andyvee for posting the link to the new update portal Shame Skoda does not allow users to select which countries they would like to download Nav updated. Next round of updates I noted is May 2015.
  2. UPDATE on situation Skoda will by 2018 (this in an official letter) will have fully implemented its restructuring of its UK dealer network, closures as per my local one therefore to follow. My dealer was rated for quality and service 6th out of the 130 in UK by Skoda.
  3. Interesting comments - Especially the Branding Part as my dealer had only just received the full Czech Face List. There are lots of nice add ons we'd all like with regards to any product delivery but if the quality of service is not there then it all falls flat... Will test the alternative dealers to see if they will collect my car (thanks for that tip) as I know what the warranty work is - Fingers crossed. PS - I do hope Skoda does not end up being just another car brands as to be honest it has always (even as part of VAG) stood out a little - the demise of Saab comes to mind. PPS - totally agree with the comment "just somewhere comfortable with knowledgable staff that I can get to and from fairly easily".
  4. Shine Gone of Skoda UK Customer Service. Sadly heard via a 3rd party that my local dealer and the one I purchased my Sept '14 Octavia from has for some reason (and they don't know) lost their Skoda Status. Skoda did not think to tell owners even those with Skoda Finance.....the main gripe is I now have not an 8 mile round trip to the dealer but either a 40 or 50 mile round trip which Monday to Friday would mean due to traffic a circa 1 1/2 hours drive, not something I need with the demands of a working week especially as the other dealers are a similar time frame from my office. I now have to get some warranty work revaluated at one of the alternative dealers before it can commence, it was due to be done on Wednesday 17th December.... Skoda UK did not come across as at all interested which was if not a pity then a shock... I bought the car due to its quality and convenience of the dealer....oh well Any other Owners found dealers being closed as I had heard a rumour that Skoda UK is looking at Lifestyle Brand Centres as part of its strategy aka similar to what Mercedes UK did oh some 15 years ago
  5. Just checked and new maps for Amundsen out this November (2014), therefore (thanks though) the links on AndyVee log are not up to date Have not seen the VIN site But on the site I posted (http://www.skoda-aut...e/maps-updating) you have to check the version number on your system and the version number on the download site It seems lots of people have had issues either not downloading or corrupting the SD / System Hence why when asked Skoda Customer Service stated get the new maps from your Dealer I did ask if the Dealers knew this and they said some do and some don't...... Approaching my dealer in a week or so
  6. Ran a search and could find any posts on this topic. Contacted Skoda Customer Services to ask about registering for when new updates come out. Interestingly Skoda Customer Services stated they prefer owners to secure the updates from their local dealer and not by downloading themselves? Anyone had issues downloading the data themselves or come across this odd method of getting new map data? http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/experience/service/maps-updating
  7. Had windows reprogrammed by dealer - did make me smile as hey they are just windows but cars are so full if computers now the windows had to be reset...all fine now
  8. Just had the One Shot as well as the Remote Fob Open Close function fail on the front passenger window (Sept 2014 model) Dealer had a look but needs further investigation as they dont know why All other windows work fine
  9. Quite easy to get your foot near it when someone boxes you in and the door opening is marginal Or a 1000 other unplanned for reasons Its the design which is just sadly daft and lacking in integrity compared to the rest of the vehicle
  10. Not nit picking as the month old estate is fab BUT Anyone else noticed the silly clip that holds the bottom seal on both the front passenger and driver doors the rear corner (by B Pillar) Its just asking for someone's foot to rip it off Shame on whoever came up with that solution
  11. Just checked the UK Brochure May 2014 and powered heated mirrors are standard from S upwards with powered folding standard on Elegance, VRS and L&K
  12. Issue with water collection resolved by dealer as part of a notification to dealer by Skoda UK Work took approx 1 1/2 hours
  13. Thanks for reading my post I thought it was all about size and the perceived quality bigger wheels brings. Just could not work out how the same engine can be fitted with two different wheels As looking in to it apart from the cost saving the smaller wheel brings you also have a better ride and with premium tyres eg Conti's (but still some £40 cheaper per wheel then the larger) you still have top notch handling. A friend asked their dealer to remove the 18" as the ride was so harsh Its as comments on Honest John in The Daily Telegraph, that being, manufacturers get a good deal from the tyre companies to put larger tyres on so tying in the customer to expensive replacements
  14. I have noted in the latest brochure The SE Estate with 2.0 TDI CR 150PS DPF come with as standard 205/55 R16 91V BUT The Elegance Estate still with the 2.0 TDI CR 150PS DPF come with as standard 225/45 R17 91W So why such a big difference for the same car and engine? As there is also the £ Difference of some £45 per tyre between the R16 and the R17 Both Cars have Tyre Sensors etc so it would seem its just cosmetic - or and depending on the driver either a sporty harder ride on the 17's or a an easier (due to rubbish UK Roads) ride on the 16's
  15. Anyone else noticed a rusty screw head on both B Pillars (outside face) Around same height on Pillar as top of Front Seats Will ask dealer to check it out when it goes in for water in doors recall RAPID 1.2 Elegance (8 months old)
  16. RAPID 1.2 Elegance (8 months old) Dealer has just booked the car in following a Skoda UK notice to dealers to check all Doors for Water in the Doors. Dealer stated its an issue with a faulty valve.
  17. With the launch of the Scout at Geneva March 2014 But no details since on spec or when orders can be placed I heard the Scout might get the VAG EA999 2.0TFSI engine Anyone know anything on this EA999 2.0TFSI engine.
  18. Octavia Scout 2010 rear screen smears on both sweeps of the wiper Have checked wiper blade and all looks ok Have cleaned both blade and screen with screen washer fluid ( Skoda’s own ) and also used Autoglym on the glass But the screen smears BUT only in the mid point about a 1 /3 down ( so exactly in line of sight ) Really annoying Any thoughts / comments appreciated before I pay out for new blades to see if that stops it PS blades on car since Nov 2010 - as previous set Front & Rear changed under warranty - I am not impressed with the durable nature of the glass as it seems VERY suseptable to airborne rubbish and therefore scraches easy Ta
  19. Blast Thought I'd got it sorted but the other day early morning cold start a lot of vibration through the steering Also had it later in the day when the car had been sat in the sun Seems to be more noticable at around 60 - 65 either accelerating or deccelerating and also in bends Off for another test drive tomorrow with dealer Do hope to find cause as its killing my enjoyment fo the Scout As its gone from a smooth drive to a drive with this vibration through the steering wheel Tyre centre I use said it might be a steering rack issue or a faulty ABS controller??????
  20. Well finally found out the problem 1. Front tyres had developed feathering on inside edge - initially had them rebalanced and tracking done but vibration was still there - so have now moved rears to front and had new tyres to rear 2. Tyre centre has found quite a few cars both 4x4 and F / R drive that have vibration through the steering that would normally be from front tyres ( as rear balance normally causes through the car vibraton ) but is actually due to rear tyre issues Have stuck with Dunlop Sp Sport 01 - was going to go for Bridgestone but Bridgestone Tech stated best to stay with OEM Therefore if you have a Scout check your rear wheel balance if you have steering wheel vibration Looking around at winter tyres and wahst out there - for my rims 225/50 R17 94W or might get a set of steels Thanks for all your comments
  21. Car came with ( its 12 months old ) Dunlop SP Sport 01 225/50 R17 94W. I had decided on Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport after checking reviews and also a colleage has a Tiguan and they are OEM on that amongst some other Soft 4X4's. BUT, When I went and spoke to a tyre specialist by chance the Bridgestone Europe Tech Guy was there and he said Bridgestone would not recommend ( even though their web site does ) the H/P as it was not OEM - he was though amazed at the fact Skoda had put the Dunlop SP Sport 01 on the Scout. The reason for me researching a change of tyre is the car has 13000 on the clock and 3 mm on the fronts but for the last 2 months there is a vibration ( as if something mechanical is loose ) through the steering wheel - no noise just a vibration at any speed on any type of road. Skoda checked it and said nothing to worry about. Tyre Specilaist checked the tracking and front wheel balance. Car going back to Skoda for another check this week as the vibration is becoming more noticable.
  22. Came across this as my Octavia II Scout TDI with 13000 ( only 12 months old ) on the clock has the same background vibration through the steering wheel. Skoda said it was nothing to worry about I got the car checked by a tyre specialist and the tracking, geometry was done and the front wheel rebalanced. There is feathering on the inside edge for the front tyres. Its going back to skoda this week for them to investigate As I also had the vibration increase on a right hand dual carriageway bend
  23. looking at changing from the OEM Dunlop SP Sport 01 225/50 R17 94W to one of these UNIROYAL RainSport 2 FR Continental Sport Contact 2 or 3 ( 3 is latest ) Bridgestone ER300 OR Dueler H/P Sport been checking via http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/ Any experience of these
