  1. robby,

can i ask what you are trading in, that you are getting over book on.?

Is it at 'Motor Depot' ?

    What has the vRS got,

ie, Reversing Sensors, glasses holder or any optional extras,

    george

Yep the 11000 mile car is at Motordepot

I'm trading in a 59 plate Renaultsport Clio 200, 27k, every extra except Recaros, mint condition - had this for 4 months (long time for me) - just fancy something newer and more economical than 26mpg

Not sure on options on the VRS - can't see anything and there aren't any pics of interior - guess it's the basic model?

  2. Bet you are a car dealers wet-dream lol!

Sounds like warranty not an issue so go for it and enjoy :-)

Bought my last 5 cars from the same dealer - he was cheap and the cars were mint when i got the first couple but his prices have gone up and quality gone down - hence why i'm looking at other dealers

64 cars so far to date and 17 motorbikes - costs me all my wages

  3. I'm sure they are fine but I personally wouldn't dream of forking out £10k on a vRS which has potentiallly less than 6months warranty left...

Both cars are jan 2010 registered so will have 8 months warranty left - as i change within 3-4 months it'll be long enough :) can the warranty be extended after 3 years?

  4. 11,817 miles, £9990 from a Google

& thats just an 'Asking Price' nearer £9000 will be enough IMO. £9500 max.

The 30,000 mile one will be more like £8500 grand for cash.

I would probably not even look at it.

    george

That's the 1 i'm supposed to be leaving a deposit on tommorow - looks clean :)

They're giving me over book price for my car in p/x so it is a good deal - never even sat in 1 so got to decide tonight whether to go for it of not?

  5. Well after a phone call today the blue one has been sold :wall:

I've emailed 2 other dealer who both have green ones so hoping to get a reply tommorow when they pick up their emails.

Both the dealers are non Skoda so if i ask them about any previous problems they wont know - is there anywhere online i can input the reg numbers to see what work has been carried out?

What is the breather mod? is it nessesary and easy to do?

    what's the mechatronics? dsg?

if the car turns out to have high oil consumption is this a warranty claim?

  6. Well i'm currently running a 2009 Clio 200FF with Cup pack and almost all optional extras - car is running great and looks smart in white.

I've had this car for 4 months which is a long time for me as i usually get bored and change within 3 months.

I've had many turbo's cars (focus ST, Astra VXR, Corsa VXR, Imprezas (x3), TT, etc) and although the Clio is quick it just doesn't have the shove in the back feel :(

I've been looking for a replacement but in my price range (£10k) the only choices are what i've already had unless i go for a Suzuki Swift sport (no turbo) or something older/ high miles?

I was thinking of the Polo 1.2tsi but can't imagine it being nippy enough and i'll get fed up within a week or so, the 1.4tsi is too highly priced so that's out.

Looking around the Fabia VRS keeps cropping up and i've been offered a 2011 (11plate), blue, 26k for £9500 from a dealer - is this a good price?

The blue does look nice even on the ugly shape :) but this car doesn't seem to have any extras - not sure what is standard features tbh

What should i be asking about this car (deal being done online/ phone as it's 200 miles away) apart from usual service history, defects, etc?

What problems could there be with a 2011 model? - reading about some engine problems is worrying buy guess Skoda will swap engine under warranty if anything does go wrong?

This car has clear headlights where a lot of others have black - what's the difference and do they swap over?

Is the DSG easy to adapt to from a manual? does anyone regret changing?

The interior looks basic - even the Clio looks better (ok - probably not built as good), last Fabia VRS i had (2004my) i could change/ upgrade parts - are there accessories for the MK2?

    Any help welcome :)

    Cheers

  7. is it just the actual lock part thats damaged?

if it is then for around £7 you can buy a de-lock kit from any VW dealer which consists of - a plastic cap (unpainted), a metal disc and a metal barrel

it takes around 5 mins to fit these to the car and will stop them doing it again :)

make sure you carry a spare battery for the remote though (or tape it under the car somewhere)

  8. Universal ones should have a grub screw fitment which when the **** is on the shaft (don't say a word :) ) is screwed in so it grips and keeps the **** in place.

Be careful wich you choose as some dont allow for the leather gaitors to attach at the top.

  9. the pillar trims are a bit fiddly but easy enough to do

i aligned them up before removing the backing paper and used masking tape to keep them in position before pulling the backing off bit by bit - smoothing them out (with free plastic scraper in kit) - just make sure the're level top and bottom

for side mouldings i suppose the easiest way to fit these is to put masking tape just below where the moulding goes - keep peeling it off and re-sticking until it's spot on then you have an accurate guide for the rubber :)

  10. Hmm - the last paragraph on your reply shows you're willing to back down and pay the extra £100.

The dealers have a target to reach for each month, if they reach this target (set by the manufacturer) they get a bonus (on top of their profit) - this is thousands to them. Usually the target consists of a certain number of various models (eg 20 Fabias, 15 Octavias, etc) - this is an incentive for the dealers to sell more cars which is why they advertise so much and throw in free gifts.

I'd have replied to their email saying i wouldn't pay for the changer as it wasn't ordered but would have it as a gesture for the car being registered to their address :)

  11. I use MC2 alloy cleaner for my wheels and under bonnet alloy parts, it doesn't contain acids so isn't too harsh but it does work great (smells nice as well).

Recently bought another 5lt (dilutes 1/20 so i really have 100lts - this i bought from another supplier cheap as it's the proper stuff that is renamed/ repriced as MC2

    Can't remember the supplier now?
