....I dodged the cam belt bullit as the regular Indy that I used for the annual service was very scathing about the published "too frequent" cam belt changes and his view was they were built to do around 70k miles before needing a change, so although the car was 6.5 years old it only had 30k on the clock so the belt (and water pump) has not yet been changed, (£650+ cost). If I had kept it until it's next service, (due December), I would have had it changed anyway along with the water pump which I understand are prone to leaking after a certain age....(a bit like me ). As it was in the last 12 months I ended up replacing the 4 tyres, a new battery and both rear wheel sensors, so Ideally I should have sold it 12 months earlier! Initially the pan roof had a very minor leak, but that was diagnosed as the front LH side drain pipe having a kink in it so I had the pipe replaced, and at the same time they glued all 4 of the drain pipes in place to prevent them from detaching at a later date. (As a precaution I then applied clear Gorillla tape to the glass and rubber seals as I never used the sunroof anyway, but prior to doing this I did not have any leak problems so more of a precaution really). More recently (as previously reported on this forum), I had a couple of problems with the radio/satnav unit. The satnav couldn't seem to find my exact location and kept telling me I was "off road", however this seemed to have sorted itself out over the last few weeks. I then had an occasional problem when the radio kept trying to autoselect the station to the furthest left on the screen, but again very intermittent? My 3 previous cars were all Octavias, and I agree with the above comment regading space...masses! I liked them all, particularly the first one which was one of the first VRS mk 1 a simply brilliant car! This was followed by a 2.0 ltr diesel, and finally a 1.4tsi petrol (125hp), which again was a cracking engine as was the 1.4 (150hp) in my recently sold Yeti. ..and yes I would have happily got a new one if they still made them. I noticed on Autotrader that late ones (2017) are going for silly money, not that much less than I paid for a virtually new Niro!.....and I would not want to spend that sort of money on a 5/6 year old car without a 3 year manufacturers warranty!

...well after 2 years of looking and procrastinating our beloved 2015 1.4 L&k Yeti is gone. After much searching and many test drives we have now part exchanged for a pre-registered Kia Niro. In some ways not really a patch on the Yeti, but has some usefull features and I really wanted an auto box, (and a 7 year warranty helps ease the pain of transition!). Nothing I tried came close to the practicallity and "quality feel" of the Yeti which will be much missed, although concerns regarding the eventual possibility of a pan roof failure, and a few other problems that had started to become potentially costly concerns? The things I prefer on the Niro are the auto box, fuel economy, (first 50 mile journey from the dealer showed 65mpg on the computer), although the 1.4 returned 44mpg (actual) over the 4+ years we had it), and adaptive cruise control, 7 year warranty, no potential pan roof problems. The things in the Yeti's favour are practicality whike being relatively small, (seat removal), comfort, "quality", (feels very "soild" compared to more modern offerings), performance, loads of extras on the L&K although some not used, (auto parking....why????). If they still made them, (or something very similar) it would have been a no brainer to simply get another one, (auto). I even thought about trying to get one of the last 2017 SEL Drives, but they are now 5 years old and I didn't fancy spending that sort of money on a VAG car with no real warranty. I can say that to date, the Yeti has been the best car I have ever owned!! ...so goodbye to this forum and thanks to all for all the help over the last few years....and if you have a "good" Yeti, then I would strongly recommend keeping it as long as you can!!
  3. ..just in the process of (regretably) changing ours, (1.4 awd L&K). We have had it from 2 years old and 7k miles, and I always said i would change after 3 years of ownership, but covid struck and I have been at a loss as to what to replace it with. If they still made the yeti it would be a no brainer to get another one. I now really want an auto and have tried several small SUVs as a potential replacement includig Vitara, Kamiq, T-Roc, Q2, Mazda CX30, Arona et all. I test drove the latest Yaris Cross and decided that it was the car for me, but I did not want to wait 6+months, (same with a new Viatara), so I have ended up with my 2nd choice which is a Kia Nero self charge. Hoping to collect it soon, (pre-registered). When I first started looking (pre-pandemic) WBAC were offering around £12k, andd a few months ago it peaked at £17k, which is virtually what I paid for it! More recently it has settled back to £14k, but the dealer has offered me £14.5 part ex. Normally I would expect it to be worth around £10k after 4 years.. We have loved the Yeti (probably the best car we have ever owned), despite a few "niggles", very practical and has averaged 44mpg (actual) since we got it, which I don't think is too bad for an (occasional) 4*4, and after cleaning it today it looks almost as good as new! (31k miles on the clock), but it is time to move on and I really want an auto, and with Kia at least you get the assurance of a 7 year warranty....but I will miss some of the toys! (Never used the "self park" option..).
  4. Hi all, a recent litte problem regarding the radio which has started to "move to the furthest left preset" on the screen. (apols if that does not make sense). ie there are normally 5 presets showing on the screen, and if we set it on the middle one, every do often the "curser" (with much beeping), without any driver input moves itself to the far left of the screen?... ..any help appreciated... ta

..I watched it all 3 times and still couldn't make out any salient moments??....so I would appreciate an explanation as well??

..the 150 hp 1.4 seems fine to me?....virtually the same "feel" as my old 2.0 ltre diesel. Although I think the earlier 1.4's are 122hp. I had one of those in an Octavia, and again I found it a really great engine and economical to boot!...
  7. Stubod replied to D_A_N's topic in Skoda Yeti
..given the well published issues with this engine it is probably best to avoid unless evidence of a replacement engine has been fitted? Although when the engines are OK they are great, (had on in an Octavia)!

..from what I have read about problems with the 1.8 petrol engines it's not something I would be considering.....but then again if it's already done 133k miles...and it has a suitable warranty that would cover both the engine and auto box....?
  9. ..ta for the replies....dumb question, I assume the antenna is used for both the radio and satnav?
  10. ..just had the car back from the garage who replaced a faulty wheel sensor. I am aware it is purely coincidence, but when I started to use the satnav the location shown was not exactly where the car was. (ie it kept showing "off road" on the dashboard). Also the indicator on the map remained still for a bit abd then "jumped" to the current location and then froze for a few seconds before jumping to the (almost) current location? ie it seems to know roughly where it is, but seems to be a small amount out and only updates every few seconds? Just wondering if anybody may know what this faukt would be caused by? (I tried turning everything off and removing and re-inserting the SD card). Thanks for any feedback...
  11. ..turned out to be the nearside rear...cost about £180 including 1.5hrs labour at our friendly local garage......apparently he has done 4 wheel sensors today!, (not all Yeti's)...
  12. ..ta again for the feedback. I love the car but now wish I had sold it before these problems started. Still undecided regarding a replacement, really like the Yaris cross but 6 months waititng list....but 1st world problems really given whats going on elsewhere......
  13. ..ta for the feedback. I think the rears on mine are disks, but I will check tomoz. Also noted that the cruise control has started to "drop out" since I have had this fault...not sure if it is related?
  14. Hi all, a while ago I had an array of orange lights come on. (eg traction control, stability control, ABS, tyre pressure, moving lights). Took it to a local Indy Skoda specialist who advised a wheel sensor had gone and replaced it for around £170. 12 months on and it looks like I have the same problem again so I assume another sensor has packed up. This time I took it to a more local garage (just for convenience due to their location compared to the specialist). I explained the symptoms and he advised straight away that it was a wheel sensor and that it was a common problem as he has done quite a few. Out of interest I am wondering how many others have had this problem and just how common it is?
  15. Hi all, ...still looking to change the Yeti. Recently had a test drive in the new Toyota Yaris cross which seemed to tick most boxes compared to all the other cars I have tried. Only problem being 22 week lead time. Another option that has just popped onto my radar via a good Which report is the Kia Nero. (Would probably go for the self charge hybrid variant). Just wondering if anybody else has gone that route and what are your thoughts? ta for any replies...
  16. ..another +1 for getting Yeti. Had mine for 4 years now but been looking to change it. After "testing" many small SUV's the only one I think I like is the new Toyota Yaris Cross, (I want an auto), but only available new and currently a 22 week waiting list! I have also considered / tried a Vitara (no auto option on newer cars), Mazda CX30, (best interior of the bunch, but being non turbo feels very "flat"),VW T-Roc, (cheap interior), Audi Q2, (cheap interior and rather pricy for the spec), but none come close to the Yeti IMHO. If they still made them it would be a no brainer to get another one, only problem is the "silly" prices that are being asked at the mo. (pre pandemic WBAC was offering £10.5k for mine, last weeks figure was £17k which is only £250 short of what I paid for it!...crazy!!). ..good luck with your purchase....
  17. ..just as an update, I took the car into our local indy who replaced the master cylinder and charged £200 which I thought was OK. Time will tell if it has cured the problem, (ironically it had been fine the week leading up to the work...).

A bit of an update in the search for a replacment for the Yeti. Last week I had a test drive in a Mazda CX30, lovelly car and a good quality interior, (better tan all the other small SUV's I have seen). Only problem is that (for a 2 litre), it felt very "flat" compared to the Yeti. (1.4 turbo). More recently I test drove the new Toyota Yaris Cross fully expecting it to be a bit pants regarding the CVT auto, however it is nothing like the old DAF or Jazz CVT systems and was a really nice car to drive. I think this could be the car to replace my Yeti!?
  19. Hi, its a late 2015 1.4 Tsi with a 6 speed box..
  20. Hi again, had a look under the bonnet, removed air box and could not see any pipework?....there is something to the right of the engine block lower down (looking into the engine bay), but could not see anything to "release". I assume the layout of the 1.4Tsi may be different?....Tried YouTube and google but could not find any info ao I will probably leave it to the local indy to have a look...
  21. ..brill...many thanks for the advice...I will have a look tomoz...
  22. Ta for the tip..I will see if I can find a youtube clip on where it is... .assuming I can find it, is it something you can do with "fingers", or are spanners required?
  23. Hi and thanks for the very comprehensive reply. Is there any explanation as to why when I spray WD40 / 3in1 at the bank of the pedal the problem goes away temporarily?...
  24. ..ta for the reply. I will speak to our local Indly. Would you be able to tell me the cost yo paid for this please?
  25. Hi all, I have a niggly problem of a "sticky" clutch pedal. The pedal does does not always return unless you get your toe underneath and pull it back. It has been like it for a while, (on and off), initially I sprayed some WD40 up the back of the pedal which works fine for a while but then returns, (I am currently using a light oil spray instead). Problem is I can't really get low enough to have a good look. Just looking for any advice, of from anybody else who has had this problem? Many thanks...
