  1. 7v = battery well and truly f.....k....d
  2. ...probably cheaper to buy the SEL drive, and then just get a satnav for it....cost a lot less than fixing a pan roof!!
  3. I used Gorrilla tape, and it stuck no problem, however I did have to replace it after a year or two...I got a roll, cut it in half and went around all the joints between the glass and the rubber seal, also the glass joint across the middle. (Just need to be carefull, and not try open the sunroof!!) It was a bit of a pain to remove it when I came to trade it in, had to use meths to get ride of the "glue" residue from the tape. Also be wary that most "guarantees" will not cover things like sun roofs. I would definately not buy anything with a pan roof again, may as well just go for one of the latr "Drive / SEL variants if it's a Yeti you really want.....(IMHO)
  4. ..shame Skoda never offered the option to replace any leaky roofs with a sealed / fixed permanent one....
  5. ..I used a local specialist who glued on the drainpies for me. (NB I only had a very minor leak which turned out to be the front LH side drain pipe had a "kink" in it that caused the water to build up when it rained very heavily). I am not aware of any commercially available permanent "fix". After that, and reading about all the problems I got a bit paranoid (even though it did not leak after the pipes had been glued on), that I used clear Gorrila tap around the edges and never opened the sunroof..... The problem is now compounded by the very silly prices being asked for these cars, the youngest of which will now be 7 years old!!...and Skoda/VAG never accepted any responsibility for this design/manufacturing failuer even though it ws clearly of their making...hence I will never buy VAG again....
  6. ...after owning one I would not consider buying another LK spec. Shame really as a good, well spec'd car. I would not want ongoing worry and hassle of a potential leaky sunroof. A real problem to sort out if it does happen as well as a significant cost . Problem is if you got one that doesn't leak now, you never know when it may start to leak, better off getting one without a sunroof. A "service" will probably only grease the mechanism and clear the drains and that doees not really help the basic leaky sunroof problems which appear to be a poor design / manufactuting. (As a minimum you can get the drain pipes "glued" on to stop them coming lose, cost around £400, but this by itself does not always stop any leaks).
  7. ..I had an Allegro ???? . . . ...I'll see myself out....
  8. When I replaced my Yeti I went for a Kia Niro self charge. The poverty spec model came with smaller (16 inch) wheels which I prefered for comfort and economy, (and cheaper tyres). I would have liked a higher spec model, but these all had larger (17 inch) wheels, and as above, there were no options to change the wheels on the higher spec models to make them the same as the base model? Assuming they all have the same size discs etc. I can't see why this would be a problem??
  9. ..I assume that VAG have now sorted the earlier problems they had with the 1.5 petrol engine???
  10. Mainly rural roads, not really any "in town" or motorway driving unless when going on holidays, and I consider myself a "steady" driver..ie not a boy racer as those days are long gone!!
  11. For info, while I had mine, (approx 3 years), I averaged 42mpg (actual), minimum was 37mpg, max was 47mpg and the maxidot on average was 8% optimistic. (Always noted a drop off during the Winter months...)
  12. No, fitted one on mine and they just disconnected the old one and re-connected the new one....(the girl off reception did it while I watched)......I spoke to the Indy that did it, and apparently it's a bit of a myth that you need to do any "programming"....(2015 1.4 L&K)...
  13. I was a bit sceptical regarding Electric handbrake, (mainly due to concerns about "something else to go wrong". But did not have any choice when I swapped the Yeti for Kia Niro as that is all they fit. However, now I have got used to it I love it, particularly because of the "auto hold" feature, which combined with an auto box makes life soooo easy! (Luckily comes with a 7 year warranty as I share concerns about this sort of tech on "old" cars???)
  14. The problem I had with mine was the passenger side front drain pipe was "kinked". I took it into our local Indy and they replaced it. At the same time they "glued" all the pipes in place as they said that tended to be the main problem....ie the drain pipes coming loose and allowing water to run down the outside of the pipe into the car... ...NB I did not have a problem after this, but I decided to tape up the sunroof using clear gorrilla tap anyway, (just in case / paranoid), and obviously did not open the sunnroof again. Took the tap off when I sold it after 4 years....
  15. ..to be honest, given all these problems, VAG should have just offered a solid / fixed roof replacement that is permanently sealed in with the switch de-activated as a "low cost" alternative. Still gives you a "pan" roof but without the leak problems and would cost a hell of a lot less??
  16. ...you fail to realise that this is most deffinately NOT a design or manufacturing fault.....therefore it MUST be a user fault???? Hence after 20 years I will NEVER buy a a VAG car again......
  17. ..there have been problems reported with the wiring loom to the doors.....as I understand it they are slightly "too short", and over time the wires break...??
  18. ..could it be a coincidence that one of your wheel sensors has also failed? When my (wheel sensor) failed I also got lots of warning lights to do with steering / ABS etc as the wheel sensors are linked to so many things?

    MPG

With my Yeti 1.4 AWD (150hp version) I averaged 42mpg (actual) over the time I owned th car, and my current car a self charge Kia Niro has averaged 69mpg (actual), since I got it about a year ago.
  20. I also considered the (at the time), new Toyota Yaris Cross, and I would have got one, but delivery times where 9+ months and I did not want to "risk" running the Yeti for that much longer as it was starting to incurr costs, (and I fancied a change anyway). Although I was concerned about the CVT auto fitted to the Yaris, after a test drive I found it fine. (They apppear to control it using "set steps" rather than the more traditional CVT experience found in the likes of a Honda Jazz). I think it may be worth looking at the new Suzuki Vitara which (I think), now comes with an auto option. I test drove the older manual 1.4 model and thought it was really nice car and a similar size to the Yeti, and if I had been in the market for a manual I woud have probably gone for one of these. (NB at the time the Niro was not on my radar..).
  21. ..old shape. The new one appears a little bigger, and I prefer something "Yeti" size. I did drive a new one when I took mine in for its first service, and it eas quite nice. Just ashame that being the base model, this one does not have the "paddles", which are only available on the next model up?? Mine is a level "2", which is the base / poverty spec, but being the old model it does have the flappy paddles which can be used in "economy" mode to act as brakes amd recharge the battery, (useful when going down hills), or in "sport" mode (haha), they can be used to change gears. Needles to say mine spends 99.9% of its tim in economy mode. I would certainly consider the new model when the time comes for a change...
  22. ..when I was looking the T-Cross was very near the top of my list, what put me off was the interior was a bit "low rent", and I also wanted to get away from VAG given their ongoing denial that any problems were a design or manufactuing issue. At the top of my list was a Suzuki Vitara, but at the time their latest model did not offer an auto box, if it had I would have got one.
  23. ..as previouslt posted, I made the change last year and after much soul searching ended up with a Kia Niro, (self charging hybrid). So far I have been really pleased, yes the Yeti was a little more practical, but the Niro ticks 95% of all the boxes for me. Definately like the auto, adaptive cruise control, 7 year warrantly and rear camera, and currently averaging around 70mpg (actual).
  24. ..probably something you have done wrong as you can bet it won't be a design or manufactuting problem... ......
