2016 Petrol 4x4
I had a 2105 1.4petrol 4*4 (148hp), for about 3 years and loved it! The engine is a real peach and never gave any problems and averaged around 42 mpg (actual). I did have a problem with the clutch cylinder which I got replaced. The only downside is the only model variant they do is the "L&K", and while this does have all the goodies, it also has the dreaded panoramic sunroof. As you will find on this forum, there are two types of sun roof owners, those who have had a leak, and those that will have a leak. (It's basically a design / manufacturing problem). The one I had had a small leak due to one of the drain pipes being kinked, while they had the head lining out I got them to glue all the drain pipes in place as they can become detached, but also the frame can "crack" and this allows water to run into the cabin. While mine did not leak after the pipe was replace, I got a little paranoid and tapped up the sunroof using thin strips of clear Gorilla tape around all the joins (just incase!). VAG never acccept any responsibility for this fault so I decided I would not buy another VAG car. (This was my 3rd Skoda). The only other thing to note is the silly prices that Yeti's are / where going for? Good luck in your search.

So you've just bought a Yeti
..keep an eye on the sunroof, there are 2 types of sunroof owners, those that have had a leak, and those that are going to have a leak!! I was the former, and ended up getting a local indy to check and then "glue" all the drain pipes in place.... Otherwise a great car, and much missed!!

I looked at two Skodas in a showroom today .... Karoq and Kamiq.
As I have previously posted, I spent over a year looking at replacements, Like you I ruled out the Kamiq. I also fancied a change from Skoda. The car I really liked, (and wanted), was the Toyota Yaris Cross, particulary after I had a test drive, (I was a bit sceptical about the CVT, but it was fine), However they had only just come out and there was a waiting list of about 8 months. By chance, (review in Which), the Kia Niro dropped onto my radar, (last of the previous models). Had a test drive and really liked it, also very impressed with the self charge hybrid set up, (...again very sceptical initially, but I would not buy another "straight" ICE that was not hybrid). I understand the latest Niro's are actually a bit bigger than the previous models. I also wanted something with a good (7+) year warranty for a bit of piece of mind. I have been more than happy with my choice for the 2.5 years I have now had the car, and my next car will either be another Niro, or I may just have anothe test drive in the Yaris to see how it compares!!

No Cruise Control
...mine was a SS and was changed by a local Skoda (Yeti) specialist whi advised coding was not necessary and simply took out the old battery and dropped in the new one...never had any problems afterwards??
-
No Cruise Control
.....re coding is not necessary.

No Cruise Control
..how old is the battery...is it the original one?? ..if it is and it's a '65 plate then I would think you probably need a new battety, but it's simole enough to get it checkedd out by a local battery / tyre place, (it needs to be checked "under load"). A knackered battery can cause all sorts of wierd problems....

Goodbye to Yeti
If you are happy with the Yeti, and it is reliable, I would keep it and spend your money on something else. I had a 2015 1.4 L&K for about 3 years and loved the car. If it was not for the fact that I really wanted an auto, and I was geting paranoid about the pan roof, (and a few other little things starting to go wrong), I would have kept it....

Yeti 2015 1.2 tsi
..nope....I watched them do it. In fact the girl from reception came out and fitted it on the forecourt while I waited.....I actually queried it at the time and was advised it was not necessary. It was a completely different battery, as they advised the one I had (original battery), was a known "problem" type. Since I had the car, up to changing the battery, the SS hardly ever worked unless I had driven a long distance, (typically 50+miles) before it started to work, and when I checked it, the voltage was always low. After the new battery was fitted the SS worked pretty much all the time.

Yeti 2015 1.2 tsi
..when I replaced my battery (SS), the dealer just disconected the old one, and put a new one in.....did not need "re-coding", and it worked just fine....

Replace diesel Yeti with 1.2 Tsi - or different car entirely?
I had a 1.4 petrol as I didn't want another diesel, (partly due to all the problems you mention). Problem is the "newer" 1.4's are all L&K spec (and 4wd), so you run the risk of the dreaded sunroof leak, which would probably cost more to repair than your DPF!...(assume you get a leak). However there are some older 1.4 models on Autotrader, and the 1.4 is a nice engine that gives reasonable performance and economy, (uese to get 40+mpg out of mine). So that is always and option if you must have another Yeti?? Although I have heard good reviews regarding the 1.2's...I almost got one, but decided they were getting a bit "old" at the time as the last models built will now be almost 8 years old...( after much (much), looking I ended up getting a Kia Niro....)

Water in front footwell - not sunroof related
..my guess would be caused by a high volume of rain, drain pipes may be partially blocked / unable to get ride of all the water, so some water escapes somewhere else. May also be dependant on the "angle" the car is parked at? Mine only did this (leaked) on a couple of occasions, and there where a few drips evident on the lower part of the passenger door pillar. . It may be worth taking the fuse cover off as this may show some signs of rust on the frame around the fuses...(did on mine but very minor)......I wish you luck!!

Goodbye to Yeti
..good luck with your new toy. I spent over 12 months trying to decide what to replace my Yeti with..(a tough act to follow). I was really happy with my 1.4 petrol, economy was OK, (40+mpg), performance was OK, (150bhp), and ohhhh so practical. I looked at and test drove lots of other cars, Seat, VW, Suzuki, and Toyota, (Yaris Cross...would have got one, but too long waiting list and my Yeti was strting to give me problems). ...ended up with a Self charging Niro. Very sceptical at first, but love the economy (70mpg), OK space, (not as practical as the Yeti), but very comfy and easy ro drive, (always wanted an auto), and the 7 year warranty helped!! (Must admit the Mini was never on my radar at the time??)

Water in front footwell - not sunroof related
..you don't necessarily get wet headlining....I didn't on mine. Mine had a partially kinked drain tube (front passenger side). This led to an occasional "drip" at the bottom of the door pillar, and the headlining was not damp at all as the water had basically "overflowed" due to the restrition and then run down the outside of the drain pipe and then down the lower part of the door pillar onto the passenger carpet, (a few drips were clearly visible inside the car). This only happened on the odd occassion (ie not every time it rained...may have been "volume" related?). I got my local indy to remove the headlining, replace the defective (kinked) drain pipe, then "glue" all the other pipes on...

New Battery for Yeti.
...don't see what the problem is..it worked fine...????
-
New Battery for Yeti.
..when I took mine into my local indy (Yeti specialist), I expected them to have some fancy equipment to attach to the electrics when they changed the battery. However the girl from reception just came out, disconnected the old battery, took it off, then simply dropped in the neew battery and re-connected it without doing anything else...ie, could have just done it myself if I had known. Did not have any problems with anything afterwards.
-
New Battery for Yeti.
..mine had SS, and the new battery did not need coding...just "plugged it in" and it worked fine...(2015 L&K).....fiited by local indy....

Checking over a Yeti before purchase
I had the 1.4 L&K...great car, good performance and 40+mpg average, but I would not get another one due to the (potential) sun roof issues, (and the silly prices)...

1.2 TSI swap for 1.4 TSI + Up platting?
If you are prepared top pay the sort of money to swap out a 1.2 for a 1.4, I would be looking for an alternative car!!

Battery gone dead

Would you risk buying an L&K ?
...probably cheaper to buy the SEL drive, and then just get a satnav for it....cost a lot less than fixing a pan roof!!
