  1. Well I popped the car into the dealer this morning and they checked what service type it was set to. Indeed, it was still incorrectly set as fixed. They offered to carry out an oil and filter change free of charge this weekend and then set it back to variable. I do feel had I not raised the relevant issues and spoken directly to Skoda UK, they would have just set it back variable and set me on my way. But I'm happy with the result and the service I received. Thanks again everyone for your help and suggestions!
  2. Thanks for the responses guys! When I spoke the dealer today I was told it was just a sensor in the "slump" which detects the condition of the oil and accordingly recommends when the service is required, so there would be no issue changing it to variable servicing despite being 10K miles in from the last service. However, after doing some extra reading it appears that there are several factors which go into this when a service is suggested, such as cold starts, warm starts, driving style etc. Presumably none of these will be considered when they change it to variable, which isn't ideal to say the least?! Should I try and negotiate a free or discounted oil change or just give Skoda a ring directly? Thanks again for your help and suggestions!
  3. Thanks for the response, Ken. According to my Service Schedule book that was filled in by the dealer, the oil change box ticked was "Use engine oil for variable service intervals QG1". I take your point regarding variable doesn't always mean longer. The 10K miles I've done have been a mixture of motorway and local driving. Update while typing: Just spoken to the dealer. They have confirmed long-life oil was used and should have been set to variable. They have offered that if I bring it in and it was incorrectly set to fixed they will set it to variable. So I guess my main question is are there are issues with setting it to variable after a year of driving? Thank you!
  4. Hi guys, I purchased my Skoda from new with a fixed service plan for 3 years. I bought it in every year to the dealer for a service. On the last service at the end of the 3 years I was told it would be given a full service and the service indicator changed from fixed to variable. This was in June last year. However, 8 months later (now) the MFD is telling me a service is due. It appears that it was not set to variable and was left on fixed. Is there a way to tell? If it has been left at fixed, how do you suggest I resolve this with the dealer as presumably if it is changed now, it won't take into account the previous 8 months driving and mileage etc? Any thoughts would be welcomed. Thank you.
  5. Cheers Chris & Huskoda for the replies! I did say that I feel it was going down quicker than usual, but in fairness, when I say I regularly top it up, I mean no more than normal. It's just in this instance I have noticed it go down more quickly than normal despite doing the same number of miles in conjunction with the white smoke. However, he said they've done several tests (including one involving a powder) and couldn't find any leaks or issues at all. Thanks for the tip about getting it in writing, I'll do just that. I also asked them to check the DSG as it has started (or at least I've just started to notice it) getting a bit confused at roundabouts and junctions. Either being in too high or low a gear when I approach or pull away. I understand the DSG can do this as standard occasionally, but I've started to notice it more and more. Again, they couldn't find any problems. Dumb question: Will I have to pay for the dealer’s time in looking for these faults given they found no issue? Thank you as always! Cheers...
  6. Well, I finally got the dealer to check and apparently after several tests they have not found an issue and have said that the white smoke is fine and it is simply condensation in the exhaust. Any thoughts? Thank you.
  7. I have the Vico TF2+ dash cam. Video review: A short and boring clip of my own: Very happy with it.
  8. Thanks guys for the advice! Great stuff. I'll do what you've suggested and get it booked in. Thank you!
  9. It seems OK. I do around 12-13K miles a year and I do have to regularly top up the coolant. Is this normal?
  10. Hi guys, For a while now I've noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust when the engine is idle; even after the engine has warmed up. When I'm accelerating it seems fine, just when the engine is idle, hot or cold. I'm not sure how long it's been doing this, but it's been serviced since and the dealer didn't say anything. My question is, is this normal or typical? It's out of warranty this June, is it worth getting the dealer to look at it or am I just worrying over nothing? Thank you!
  11. Hi guys, Sorry to ask such basic questions here but was wondering if someone could tell me which type of oil and coolant I should use in my Skoda Superb II please? 2011 Skoda Superb II Elegance 2.0 TSi DSG with fixed service intervals. For reaosns I won't bore you with I don't have the manual to look at and websites seem to differ between which oils I shoudl use. Also, I need to top up my coolant prior to my service in a few months. Its just under min and I have some long journeys to do this week. Thanks for your help and advice! )
  12. Cheers Alan! I didn't consider the part exchange issue if I'm being honest so thanks for the advice! I've managed to book it in with someone tomorrow and they were responding to my e-mails Saturday night which I thought was pretty good. They've quoted me £150 for a spray and blend repair. He's said that unlike some of his competitors he uses a 2K clear coat as opposed to a 1K clear coat (which I assume is good) and that the paint he'll use will be an exact match for my cars own colour for a "bendable match". He didn't say it'll be invisible but I should only just be able to notice it if I got right up close. What are other peoples' opinions of these kinds of repair? Good results? Thanks for your help and advice!
  13. Hi guys, After only owning my new Black Magic Superb for a few days I've already managed to ruin it and I think I might actually cry. :'( http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/h425/blackmesauk/photo.jpg http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/h425/blackmesauk/photo1.jpg ...it's the lower rear bumper on the drivers side between the wheel and exhaust. I was after some advice please... Do I go back to the dealer and get them to repair? If so, how much do you think it might cost? ...or should I try one of the many companies who offer to repir this kind of thing? Will this void my paint warrenty with Skoda? Please, any help or advice is welcomed. I'm just so angry with myself. It was a small concreat block poking out about 1ft from the ground. I didn't see it as I reversed. Thank you.
  14. Have been told for a while now but compleatly forgot to post back, sorry. Getting my new Superb mid-June!
  15. Thanks guys for all the feedback and responces. I'll let you know as soon as I find out my build week. Cheers!
  16. Hi Guys, I placed the order for my new Skoda Superb with the dealer around two weeks ago and I still haven't been issued a build week. I'm told the order was placed the day after I paid my deposit but I haven't heard anything. How long do you typically have to wait to be given a build week? Thank you!
