  1. It is important not to let the high pressure fuel pump on the common rail engine to run dry even for a short time, the above method of switching the key on and off  does prime the system for you, if you have vcds it is possible to run the low pressure pump in the tank for 30 seconds which is the best method.

  2. Hope you like your Roomster, yes the front end is a the same as a Fabia along with the engine and drive train, the rear axle and suspension shares a lot of parts with the Octavia. The workshop manual for the fabia should cover most of what you need. There are electronic manuals available that cover the Roomster

  3. At 122,000 miles I would say it needs a new dpf, think I have read somewhere that they are good for about 80-90,000 miles with sensable use. I think your daily routine has extened its life very well.

  4. This is perfecty normal, if the ecu detects movement when the the brake pedal is operated the revs are increased to prevent the high compression factor of the diesel engine causing exsess engine braking, which in turn prevents undue wear on the driveshaft components.

This info is taken from the VAG self study website.

  5. Found it a quote from a "DieselV6" post in an old thread -

Older 2.5 engines do have a lift pump, post-2004 (BDG) do not have one, just bigger pickup.

    Even more confusing, eh?

Surprised myself that their is one, but 2005 2.5 diesel does show one in the parts program, another check shows none fitted to 2004 model but fitted to 2005 model..

    Regards
