  1. As per title four Kumho KW23s in standard Fabia VRS size (205/45/16). Each with 7mm tread remaining. 1 has a repair from a screw that was found slap bang in the centre of the tread. £150 collected from Birmingham.
  2. Well the saga of my indecision continues. Does anyone want this cause I've seen a car I want to go for? Was going to keep her and she now has a fresh service (oil and all filters inc. fuel, air and pollen), new gearbox oil, and new rear dampers as these were noted as having a slight leak at service. Mileage now approaching 95k. Also now has 6 months tax. Bad points - passenger side washer jet isn't working. Never bothered me as I'm not a passenger. Also some very slight brake vibration at times felt through the pedal. No effect on braking performance at all and not something I've had investigated because of this. Cambelt was done in April 2010 so will be due in the not too distant future. Anyone with £2650 can have this with the winter tyres included (as new). Cheers.
  3. Just to update everyone on this as I've had several messages and offers. The car I was originally set on fell through and i've been in two, three and even four minds about keeping the VRS or selling up. I will update next week if I have chosen to sell up and let the people who've messaged me have first option on viewing / buying if that's the case.
  4. Thanks. I understand all the posts re WBAC. I'll take it there and see but I'll just replace the 312s and not include the winters which will make up any difference anyhow. Now back to the matter in hand
  5. Hi All, Basically want to buy another car I've seen quickly. We buy any car offer for my VRS is £2575. £3000 would get the car rather than sell to WBAC. I am based in Birmingham. Details as follows; 2005 Magic Black Fabia VRS MOT Feb 2014 Tax till end of August 2013 I am the 3rd owner and have had the car since May 2011. Bought on 52k miles. 92500 miles on the clock now (daily so will go up slightly) FSH (serviced every 10k) - due an oil change in a few hundred miles. Car is mechanically sound and running great. 312mm brake upgrade with virtually new pads and discs. New rear pads and discs approx 1 year ago. Tyres all have decent tread. Car is totally standard other than alloys refurbed in athracite (unmarked). Superpro polybushed console bushes. Cruise control 6 CD Air con £3k will see some virtually new Kumho winters included in the sale. Car is not a minter. No dents or scrapes but the car has been a workhorse not show car and so not up to a detailer's standards! If I've forgotten anything please PM. Thanks for looking. A few quick phone pics from lunchtime;
  6. mmm - decent shout but stretching my budget slightly p.s. done the audi thing before and cost me a small fortune in upkeep
  7. OK - I now have a big want for a renaultsport megane 175 dci. Nearly bought an R26 a couple of years ago and forgot that virtually the same car (minus LSD) can be had in a diesel version. However, rare as hens' teeth.
  8. Mmmm - keep looking and anything I fancy is 8-9k. Maybe keeping might be right option.
  9. Don't want to mod the vrs at all TBH. I have a weekend / track car for that sort of thing and this is the workhorse. Also don't want to get to the stage where I'm spending a lot in upkeep / repairs. No indication of that at the moment but turbos / clutch / dmf / gearbox etc. in mind. So partly for a change and partly with an eye on it potentially being the right financial route long term (probably man maths!!!!)
  10. Had the vrs nearly 2 and a half years now. Hasn't missed a beat and been a really great car but fancying a change. Sure this has been asked a thousand times but just wanting suggestions as to the range of replacements that might be attainable. It would be the value in the VRS (05 on 92k) plus £3.5k max. Needs to be able to transport 2 and some gear easily. Probably diesel again (16-18k miles per year), and cheapish to run and maintain. Have looked at focus (snooze but sensible), golfs (veedub history previously) and even alfas (e.g. 147). Or - keep the VRS? Suggestions - however leftfield - please.
  11. how many miles have the springs done?
  12. mmm - car feels awful TBH. Anyone know the cost of standard shocks and springs all round?
  13. Wondering whether to refresh the springs and shocks. Car doesn't feel great (vague handling) and nothing obviously wrong with other suspension components. Have superpro console bushes. Also wondering whether to refresh rear beam bushings? Car is 05 plate on 88k.
  14. cheers guys - for my mate as I already own a VRS. will see what we can do.
  15. As per title of the thread what is the best bet skoda (fabia or other) with a £3k max budget doing a max of 15k per year (but in all probability not that much mileage). Have ruled out the VRS due to potential repair costs should things go wrong (turbo, clutch / DMF) and the likelihood of average mileage. Suggestions please - or even other marques. Many thanks.
  16. Sometimes you just have that urge. Been there done that. You're comparing chalk and cheese there though - R26R one of the best, if not the best performance hot hatch of all time, and a lardy cruiser that understeers like the QE2. I was suggesting the R26 not R26R (still £15k plus for a good example of the latter) - very different cars. Sounds like you're set on the S3. Be warned - map it and it will feel good in a straight line, but that is all - it's a modding pit once you realise how inadequate everything else is (brakes, suspension), maintenance will be expensive and suspension components on these cars if not already renewed will need doing (track rods ends, wishbone bushes, balljoints, shockers etc. etc.). If I had one car decision back it would be my rash purchase of an S3!
  17. p.p.s. when I say 'better' I mean smiles per mile specifically. If you care about badges or other such nonsense look elsewhere. edited to say: you can't care about badges or you wouldn't have a skoda
  18. p.s. if you need a bigger car and can live with the looks my choice would be to chop in for a Megane R26 ideally or 225. Again out of the box these cars are so much better than the offerings from VW / Audi. No modding required.
