And the Oscar for best dramatization of a real life event goes to...................... EdinKent...........woop woop. Hopefully that is exactly how it will go, but somehow I doubt it. I will still keep hassling for now, at the moment the offer is a Garmin Satnav, next could be a Yeti soft toy, the possibilities are endless! -

I have been lead to believe that this would be available to all, not just me. I have told them that this is not good enough and does not solve the core issues. It is not an integrated solution, and feels like a cheap fob off. I have a Sat Nav, why would I need another? It is not an Updated Mirrorlink system as promised - simple as that. Having to offer customers an item from another company is pretty embarrassing, and the longer they carry on with this line of compensation (?!) the more damaging it is for them. I will be talking to her again on Tuesday, she has told me to 'think it over' uuuummmm NO! I needed 3 seconds to come to that conclusion, and told her so, I do not need 4 days. I have come up with 4 possible solutions so far: Retro fit Amundsen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Replace my car with a post week 22 car of equivalent specification. Take my car back - give me my deposit back and I will walk away. Refinance my car at the 0% rate, and refund me any interest paid up until now (not a solution, but compensation for possible residual value loss) I like the car, and don't really want to get rid, but Skoda have really managed to take the shine off of it for me (and others) and have cheapened the brand. We will see what happens on Tuesday. Anyone have any other thoughts? -

I am keeping my response under my hat for the moment, so that I get a true idea of what others feel. Make of that what you will! -

SKODA UK UPDATE: The latest from Skoda seems to be that they want to give us pre week 22 guys a free Garmin Satnav, she did tell me which model, but I was at work and couldn't take the details. This would be available through the dealer network. Please give me your views on this. Is this a good offer as far as YOU would be concerned? What offer would be acceptable to you? I have given her my opinion, which I will keep to myself, so as to not influence anyone. Fire away! -
An A3 Sportback parked next to my Mk3 Estate the other day. From the side profile at the back they are near identical, and I had never noticed it before either. Where the bootlid drops into the number plate area and down is all very very similar. I too am a fan of the new A3, I think it looks really sharp, so by definition so does my Fabia!

So.......... Thursday comes and goes without my promised call from Skoda UK about the conference call with the factory. I can't say that I am that surprised, but even if there was no news, then at least tell me. Skoda's customer service seems to be imploding day by day. The Mirrorlink (Mirrorgate?) saga rumbles on. -

My case has been escalated to a third person at Skoda UK. Skoda UK have a conference call with the factory tomorrow, so I will get a further update sometime after that has finished tomorrow. My dealer has informed me that some phones that were on the Mirrorlink compatibility list have since been removed AFTER customers bought them! The dealers are confident of a resolution, so I am feeling a bit more positive about it at the moment. This shambles rumbles on............. -

Skoda are saying it's hardware, and they can't just drop a new unit in. Make of that what you will. (cough cough rubbish cough cough) -

A deal sweetener maybe, but at least it takes the compatibility question away completely though. That's what Skoda are so scared of, telling people the wrong info, so they jut say "have a look at the Mirrorlink website - it's ace!" Strap on a big pair of man balls Skoda, it's an average system (pre week 22 certainly) that has been rushed into cars, which is why the execution is so damn poor. All other cars manufacturers are launching their systems that are compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay from the start. Hold you hands up, learn your lesson and move on - so that we can all get on with enjoying our cars. -

The limitations were well known about, but if you are promised updates at a later date, then it is somewhat irrelevant. It is Skoda's attitude to it's customers that should have been in the small print. The dealers are very misinformed, Skoda UK had no idea about Mirrorlink when I first raised the issue, and both of them have been kept in the dark by Skoda. Hopefully we are closer to some sort of answer. Incidentally, I would have still have got one knowing what I know now, I just would have waited until now to order one. -

I think it would be a real embarrassment if Skoda had to go the aftermarket route, it should have been pukka from the start. It will teach Skoda for launching a half @rsed effort in the first place, we shouldn't even have to think that way. Plus, if Pioneer can do it, then i'm 99% sure Skoda can, they just don't seem to want to. -

Thanks Mick. We all need some good news on this. (Thanks for the chat!) -
Hi Darnell, I have the 1.4tdi DSG, and it is great. Pulls really well, feels much faster than it is, I do use sport mode for steep hills as it sometimes starts to run out of steam, but this works really well. Some think it is noisy, I personally don't, it actually sounds quite gruff almost sporty when pushed. Economy is generally good, I have had 74.9mpg out of it, but usually get 60-66mpg on most trips. In heavy traffic this can drop to early 50's though. Mine has done about 1600 miles, so economy should be a pretty good indicator now. You will just have to weigh up the extra outlay versus the savings in Diesel and tax etc.

Don't expect any sense out of Skoda. They have now told me that there are no plans to introduce Amundsen as a retro fit for pre week 22 cars, despite telling me they were working on it 2 weeks ago?! I have been passed onto a new person at Skoda UK, which doesn't help continuity. Skoda's stance has not changed with me, it's a flat no for everything, but Auto Express have been told that Skoda are working to find a resolution, YET ANOTHER MIXED MESSAGE! Who knows what's going on, but Skoda need to get their act together and the stories a lot straighter. -

I'm not sure to be honest, I had my dealer add auto lock and alarm beeps before I picked the car up. I thought it was via the VCDS system, but i'm not 100% on that. -

I even requested a meeting with someone from Skoda or Skoda UK at the head office in Milton Keynes which was denied. They refuse the mis-selling angle, and just direct you to Motor codes to complain (which I did, and who were useless) They say that as long as Mirrorlink works, then all is fine - completely missing the point. -

Already used that angle with Skoda UK, and they just don't care. Charming Skoda.
