  1. To make the front side lights come on when the DRLs light you will have to run a cable into each headlight unit. To make the rear side lights come on you will have to run at least one cable through the car from engine bay to boot. Not to difficult.
  2. Using the drill would be effective but a bit unsightly. After cutting the hole I removed some of the sound deading material to expose the metal roof. I then stuck two wooden blocks to the metal. After that the light can be screwed to the wood. When cutting the hole make sure you are towards the rear of the B pillars as there is a reinforcing bar across the roof.
  3. It was all hard wired using relays. I first started of by making my "blue bulbs" light up and it just went from there. No coding is possible so I had to go outwith the can bus system.
  4. Decided to extensively modify rear lights. When front DRLs come on rear side lights come on. When side lights switched on rear side lights and number plate lights come on. All LEDs Reverse gear engaged two reversing lights. Breaks on now fog lights come on as break lights. Fog lights work as required. when DRLs come on "blue bulbs" in light unit come on. They have been replaced by LEDs.
  5. My biggest problem "was there enough room between roof lining and metal roof" What I did was take a 1mm drill and carefully drill through the lining until it reached the metal roof and from this I knew that there was enough room to fit my light. The drill is so small ae to leave no detectabl ehole in the lining. Next I made a template of the light and stuck it to the lining in the desired place. Again using the drill I made holes over the area of the template to make sure there was no obstructions. After that I cut a hole for the light and fixed it to thr metal roof.
  6. I have tried to add these pics but not very skilled at this. I inserted the light in the roof lining just behind front seats. Light has usual three positions 1 always off 2 comes on when doors open goes off shortly after doors close 3 always on
  7. I have replaced the bulbs in my interior light with leds map reading and central bulb. Despite all this the rear of the passenger compartment still remained very dark So I have fitted a light in the center of the roof lining and now the rear compartment is well lit Rear passengers very happy
  8. Hi folks looking for some information I am considering fitting a Columbus sat nav to my vrs I have read various threads about this but the information is a bit contradictory. Has any one fitted a Columbus to their Fabia? If so does the rear parking sensors work in the same why as intended that is showing the parking picture on the radio Also does the steering controlls work Any likes dislikes recomendation etc
  9. Has anyone had an Amundsen sat nav fitted retrospectively ? I can not get an answer as to "will my rear parking sensors work" "will my steering controls work" Skoda also recommends fitting a Kenwood unit but again can not get an answer regarding parking sensors or steering column controls Anyone any information on this ?
  10. Can anyone tell me how to access the panel lights on a vrs I seem to recall that someone changed the colour of the lights
  11. Very satisfied. I have use the upgraded bulbs, Osram Nightbreaker, but there is no comparison. The light output from HID,s is so much greater. Provided you have your lights set corectly there should be no problems.
  12. Both bulbs are H7 You will definately need a cambus kit. I fitted one to mine but be aware that it might be ilegal.
  13. PIAA supply bulbs rated at 55w but give a output equivalent to 110w These bulbs are E marked so are road legal. Provided your headlights are correctly set up you should not blind other road users. I have used these on my BMW which had very poor headlights.
  14. Do some tests Get a circuit tester and connect to earth. Remove DRL P21w switch on DRL. Insert the probe of the tester into the centre of the bulb holder. If probe lights then that is positive feed and DRL wired correctly. If probe does not light then touch probe against other terminal of bulb holder. Check that the centre connection of the LED is also the positive feed. From this you should be able to work out what the conne4ction are and make any adjustements. Good luck.
  15. My Subaru was fitted with a Turbo Timer. Thus when I switched off the ignition withdrew the key and locked up the engine continued to run for a fixed period of time. Sometimes this was very necessary as after taking the car round the track for a few laps the turbo was glowing red hot.
  16. On my daily journey I regularly have to stop a traffic lights on an uohill section and make a right hand turn. If the road is wet I get lots of flashing and I am not being aggressive with the accelerator.
  17. As owners of vrs's will know the blue bulbs in the main headlight unit act as side lights for all non vrs's and are redundant in the vrs because the DRLs take over the function of side lights. I have asked a few Skoda dealers if it is possible to make these blue bulbs light up but I am told that it is impossible it just can't be done. Not being one to accept no for an answer I set about making my blue bulbs light up. After a lot of wiring an two relays mine now light up. When the DRLs come on (turning on the ignition) my blues light up. When the side light switch is activated DRLs dim and blues light up. I have replaced the blue bulbs with high powered leds. In addition I have arranged for my rear side lights to light up when the DRls come on. The original bulbs have also been replaced with high powered red leds, canbus issues having been overcome.
  18. Sorry not a Fabia but I have a vrs. I was trying to make my image appear on the screen like the ones above. Got this far but don't seem to get the image to open. HELP!!
